A win tomorrow could take us to the dizzy heights of 5th if the Geordies lose - 6th if not.
That would be ..... nearly acceptable.

Genuine question - Where did we all expect to be at this point in the season?
Me, I had us around fifth or sixth, tucked in close to 3rd or 4th, ready to move into the CL places with a with a decent pre-Christmas run. And our fixtures up until the turn of the year suggest that this is now a distinct possibilty again.

Fingers crossed.

Most people had us down for 5th / 6th or worse by the end of the season. Fact is that with both Spurs & Arsenal the epitome of inconsistency and United drawing almost as many matches as they are winning (despite not having lost yet - they did have by far the easiest first 11 games of the top teams) then a CL place could not be considered too remote if we a) buy well in January and b) can slip into a run of games playing as we did against Chelsea.
And a CL place is the only thing that will keep Nando & Pepe at the club IMO.
So we look in half decent position despite us being gash. Sad in a way, cos we couldve been up there near the top with just a few points more, the Premiership has been completely unpredictable this season. If the wheels come off Chelsea we'll see a very competitive season pan out.
No chance we will win the EPL this year. We are 10 points off the top and 8 points off Man U. It is a mountain to climb. Scratch that. It is as impossible as climbing Mt Everest. Depressing thing is that since we beat Chelsea, the Man U fans are snickering like lopsided facial paralysed Cheshire cats!
i wonder what the odds are on us sneaking 4th ahead of city and spurs but being denied a CL spot by spurs winning the trophy itself. the premier league wouldn't be able to hang tottenham out to dry like they did to us in 2005.

Results go our way tonight and we are 5th and possible only 2 points off 4th.
Not bad boys not bad.
What a difference it has made this season anytime Torres has had a partner up front.
Torres has scored 95% of his Liverpool goals without a traditional strike partner.
Happy enough with that side. I was worried Gerrard might be moved up behind Torres and leave us lacking in quality in the middle ala the Everton away game.

Is this at Anfield?
Swap Lucas for Shelvey and that team is probably the best available.
Lucas deserves to play after his performance against Chelsea.
Shelvey deserves to play after all his performances this season.
But anyway, it won't happen, so fuck that.
I'da also rather have some pace in the final third as well as Maxi and Kuyt are too slow for my liking. But Babel is pretty useless, so I guess Maxi it is.

I think its staggering given how cunt we've been that we could go top 5 tmrw and STILL have a negative goal figure.
How shit is our league!
And we have already played against Chelski, Arsenal, Scum and City so our fixtures haven't been that easy. I'm feeling positive, for now.

Last minute tonsilitis/groin pulls aside the team is:
Reina
Kelly
Carragher
Skrtel
Konchesky
Meireles
Lucas
Gerrard
Maxi
Kuyt
Torres.
As expected i guess.

Hopefully that lineup will finally shut up the posters who keep saying "we will go into this negatively because he's a negative coach" blah blah, like before every game.

Yup and two of them have been away from home and we've also played Everton at Goodison.

technically the team has THREE central midfielders and THREE center backs 😉

And the most defensively hardworking forward player in world football.
heh.. who provided a technically excellent pass straight out the top drawer for our first goal against Chelsea on Sunday 😉
Neil - It's still a good, technically able side and there's no need to change it. Playing Johnson might be more adventurous but we've conceded less and looked better defensively since he went out the side and it hasn't really had a baring on our goalscoring either.
