Which Liverpool players would make the Spanish team?

I actually thought you were just kidding.

Dear God......
The thing is I really hope Moron is right. I mean if he could justify his fee, we'll all benefit from it. But as I see it, it's like hoping Traoré would suddenly turn into Maicon.
Of course I'll laugh at that and even ridicule it, which is unfortunate considering that he's entitled to his opinion, but I somehow feel that it's warranted.
That goes for all you Adam lovers as well.

No I am not - I don't think those players would be that effective if you were to take them out and stick them in aother side without one of their Barca colleagues. Think they would struggle.

So alba, ramos, casillas, Arbeloa, Alonso, mata etc are all overhyped, and wouldn't be as good without xavi and iniesta?

I hope so too. I've always stood by Downing. I still think he'll come good. He definitely can "do it" when he wants to. But right now, comparing him to the likes of Alonso, Iniesta and Xavi is fucking laughable.

No - I am not - I think Downing is one of our best players, with a very good technical ability.

I agree on principle, but riera was brilliant technically and He never got a great number of caps really.

I absolutely Loved Riera - but unfortunately not many people on here rated him as is the case with any left winger we have got in the last 12 years. His departure was a real shock to me - but downing has a lot more pace and can take on players. I don't think his performances can be judged based on our inability to do anything good from midfield this season.

The only way he ever takes on players is by flicking the ball to his left and running at pace, with the hope that will beat his man.
That's not the sign of a technically gifted player.

Glenjo ahead of Arbeloa
Agger ahead of Ramos
Suarez up front with Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alonso & Fabregas behind him.

Not sure if Suarez would make it into the side straight away, although he is better than Pedro imo. We've seen so many times when they (barca or spain) bring in/buy new players, regardless of how world class they are they rarely go straight into the side, even Fabregas when he went back was coming off the bench for the first couple of months and he grew up with the style and system. Although the thread asks who's good enough to get into the team, there really should be a 'who's disciplined enough to play the system' attached.

How would Reina make the team when he was already there as 3rd choice?
You could say Suarez but they seem to have players like that ten a penny. Other than that, no chance.

Suarez, Johnson, and both CB's would be in with a shout.

The rest are horribly short. Even Enrique who I rate, but don't believe he stands up to Alba, who was sensational.

thinking about it johnson may have made the team, i dont think he's better than arbeloa (they're probably about even) but he's potent going forwards, which suits their style more

Like who? Villa is aging and is a bit fucked, Torres has never suited them, Llorente doesn't suit them, they played someone else in the tournament who looked well out of place.

Suarez is definitely good enough to get into that side, IMO.

moron- WHAT IN THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL FUCK IS GOING ON IN YOUR HEAD ?!

Go see a physician !

I've tried to see his point. I really have. I've had countless thoughts in my head as to why he could think such things, but I've drawn a blank on all of them.

why does it bother all of you that I think that:

1) The system of football that they (Spain) play is based on a core of Barcalona players which is one of the reasons they have been very successful

2) The fact that I think and have doubts that many of their star players from Barcalona could not fit into other teams because their movement and how they demonstrate their abilities is primarily influenced by the system they play. Also it seems to have passed most of your minds that the major European nations who are expected to win and challenge Spain are going through some sort of transition or are a work in progress where as Spain is fully established as a side.

3) The fact that I highly rate the players I have listed from our LFC team ? - I am pleased with Stewart Downing - and I don't blame him for any of our failings this season - the bad buys for us have been Adam, and Henderson and the fact that Carol has taken a long time to show that maybe he can fit in.

The season that we have just gone through has not been a bad one in terms of the football we played, even our new manager has said we were unlucky on many occasions. - have you all forgotten the numerous chances we created and missed this season ? this is despite the fact that we have had SG out for much of the season (and the fact that he is not the player of 2 seasons ago anymore and never will be again), and Lucas being out too. It's no surpise to me that Rogers has said that there is very little he can do to add to the side - I personally think he only needs another two players - one for up front as Carrol is still an uncertain quantity, and one for the midfield as both Adam and Henderson are not quality or consistent enough. The reason he has said 3-4 is probably becuase he is aware of SG not going to play all games, and uncertainty surrounding Lucas when he gets back into the team.

We are not such a bad team if you think about it - as we showed we can beat the top three on any given day wether it be league or cup competitions. So before you decide to ban me from this thread for believing in the good qualties of our team maybe you need to look at the big picture with Spain and not get overwhelmed with their latest success.
