If you want to be really picky you could say that his brilliant save was literally just inches away from being badly positioned too.

Nah, he has to be a few yards out there in my opinion. Was a fantastic effort by wannabe Ibrahimovic as well

Ox pleased me the most.

We already know our front three are incredible. Robertson is very good. Karius is quietly doing well. Etc.

Ox showed exactly why he's been bought. A few times this season he's played in CM and he's done a Wijnaldum impression of just playing the safe pass. Everton at home was a good example of this, we dominated the game in terms of possession but didn't create too many clear chances and Ox playing safe was one of the reasons why.

Against West Ham, Ox was taking risks. With his passing, his runs and dribbling. The assist for Salah, was due to him taking players on. He created another good chance for Salah from a cut back, due to getting wide. He created the chance for Mane due to a nice run and pass. These are the types of things he's good at and it was pleasing to see as he is very creative. If he's going to succeed at LFC long term, he needs to take those risks and create, as I don't think he's ever going to be someone who thrives in the front three. He doesn't get the goals or make the right types of penetrating runs to do that. He likes to come to have the ball to feet all the time. Where as Mo and Mane will mix their games up and make runs behind the opposition constantly - Ox doesn't do that and his goal record in his career is pretty bleak really. But in CM as a creative player he can thrive and he did vs West Ham.

I think against sides outside the Top 6 at home we should always have two of Ox, Milner or Lallana ahead of one of Can or Henderson. We can't have the no risk, safe passing of Wijnaldum to break own these teams. Man City have had Silva and De Bruyne destroying teams by being their two ahead of Fernandinho - creating so many chances for their front three. We need to do the same and Milner / Ox showed vs West Ham why.

Wijnaldum will still have a place away from home or against the bigger sides when we need more discipline. It annoys me how Wijnaldum has turned into this safe type of player, as he has the skill set to do what Ox does and be a Keita-lite type player. He was a superb dribbler at Newcastle and attacking threat. Even last season at times he showed that for us. But the longer he is here, the less risks and more conservative he is becoming. That's fine against the top sides and that is when we see Wijnaldum's best performances. But against the weaker sides we need more craft than graft.

Hopefully Ox kicks on from this and keeps taking those risks.

Agree with everything you've said re. Ox. Not however with your Wijnaldum assessment. It's pretty clear he's been a much better player at Anfield than away from home and is usually far more attacking, whereas away from home, even versus mediocre opposition, he goes into his shell and takes far fewer risks and makes far fewer attacking runs. I'm not sure if any of that is Klopp's coaching but there is a distinct difference.

True. But taking risks is no guarantee for suceeding. However in games against deeplying teams we need to risk to break them down. Rolling the ball around and keeping it gives them chance to stand their ground. But with risk the error margin also increases. I notice a lot of fans are quick to point out mistakes, but we should accept more mistakes when taking risks.

I think people believe Wijnaldum is better at home, merely because people look at his scoring record and he gets all his goals at home.

I actually think Wijnaldum is one of our most consistent players in terms of performance. He's very unselfish, disciplined, does a lot of the ugly stuff, home and away which gets appreciated more against the top teams.

I don't think Wijnaldum is more attacking at home. Actually he annoys me how he doesn't try to attack much at all at home anymore. He just shifts responsibility onto others.

Taking risks isn't a guarantee for success, I agree. But you have to show the willingness to create or take responsibility to help our chances. He doesn't and what pisses me off is he has the ability to do so, as he's shown us in the past he can.

I'm hoping when Keita comes and takes his place, it might make him step his game up and realise what he needs to do in order to get a regular place in our team from next season onwards.

I do like Wijnaldum, but games against the weaker sides (outside the top four) at Anfield, I would not be starting him over Ox, Milner & Lallana in those two midfield roles ahead of Can / Henderson (whoever is selected in that deeper role).

Surely that's not recommended by dieticians?

I saw a pic of the NBA player Joel Embiid eating a burger before a recent game. You also have the Roy Keane story about some of the Irish lads ordering pizza the night before a big qualifier against Holland. Roy wasn't happy.
