But...

Klarius (4) Weak-wristed, jittery clown cost us yet again. He looks totally shit. I predicted we would be discussing dropping him by Xmas, half in jest. Nobody's laughing now. Apart from our opposition.

I'm not sure, but is your point that Brendan saying:

1) "There's going to be a lot more transfer activity to come, though.

Out of our lot, I'm most confident in Karius."

...is incongruent with today's claim

2) "Klarius (4) Weak-wristed, jittery clown cost us yet again. He looks totally shit. I predicted we would be discussing dropping him by Xmas, half in jest. Nobody's laughing now. Apart from our opposition."

...and all this leads to the conclusion that Brendan, although he has a very high opinion of himself, is in fact a total fucking prick?

Hmmm... Fair enough, he's a pain in the arse. Mostly it's intentional, as I'm sure you both know, and clearly his opinions on Firmino, Henderson, Origi, etc have been rammed down his throat...

But, if we're going to judge someone on the basis of some half-arsed speculative guesses in a 'pre season silly prediction' thread, then we'll be here a while folks.

Did you guys make any predictions in there that haven't materialised?

Heh, my own solitary contribution to that thread was to predict that 'Chelsea don't make top 4'.

That's working out well for me.

We're all pretty shite at predictions, but the big difference is that most of us dont change them half way and dont really care if they're wrong.

"Football supporter predicts something. Turns out wrong. The World/life, strangely, moves on like normal."

There are 1-2 posters/mod on here who are weirdly obsessed with peoples opinions and if they're right or wrong.
Who cares anyway. We're on this site to have some fun, chat about football and some shite.
Not to win a prize for getting things correct.

Changing you views to seem correct is just bizzare.

While we carry on with this 'I was right, you were wrong' yah boo sucks...

How about we revisit a thread in which 99% of the forum bemoaned Rodgers' ability to set up a defence and how if we would just sack him and bring Klopp in he'd sort it out overnight?

Can we find such a thread? Must be able to, there was plenty of 'em.

I made my prediction about Klarius without seeing him play. And I was also one of the few who didn't seems sure about dropping Mignolet quite as early as some, because, again, I had never seen Klarius play.

Of course, it's easy to look at posts made based on never seeing a player play, or wild predictions made based on fuck all before any football had been played, but it really is uncanny in general how many things I do get right

I agree with Ryan. If someone had said we'd be only six points off top spot and four points clear of fifth after fifteen games at the start of the season, we would've happily taken that.

This is exactly right, but it's so hard to accept this when you've seen just how good we can play, and have played for large periods.

There are two teams ahead of us while rest are chasing behind. We must also remember that we have visited those two teams with kind of handy return. The squad is challenged by a few injuries, and we have quite a program ahead. We will see some changes so lets hope some of the injured players make speedy recovery.

The maddening thing is that we are seldom outplayed but have an uncanny knack of shooting ourselves in the foot.

I wouldn't want a Managers job, must be very frustrating to watch your coaching go out of the window for no discernible reason.

Everyone makes errors but with this frequency?

We concede the least shots in the league. The personal mistakes are costing us big time.
That second goal last night was flukey as fuck aswell.

An average keeper and we would have 5 more points from the last two games. Give Manninger the gloves for the next game, I know he's old and shit but he has to be an upgrade on what we have at the moment. We must have loads of cash, Klopp needs to accept Karius is not the answer and sign another top of the range keeper.

Plus Clattenburg, if that was a foul for the West Ham equaliser we should have had two penos, Lallana in the first half and Origi in the second which was a stonewaller. Add to that the handball. He saws us off time and time again - hate the turnip headed cunt

You're a 'world class talent' at predictions.

"Mignolet will get dropped after a "series of high-profile clangers". The new keeper will have a "nervy" debut, but Klopp will persevere. Mignolet will be reinstated after the younger keeper is withdrawn to protect him after a rough adjustment to the "more physical nature of the Premiership" - ie mistakes and dropping crosses".

This is what I said back in May!

It's spooky, really.

I can understand why I am the only poster whose predictions, pronouncements and general statements are so keenly pored over and discussed by the angry, bewildered masses on this forum. So many oddly prescient comments.

Mignolet has his faults, but everybody agrees he pulls off great saves and he is clearly a better keeper than Karius, at least at this stage of Karius' career - because he is only a youngster.

The question is whether Klopp is big enough to admit his mistake and drop Karius. Managers hate to swallow their pride and I suspect Klopp is no exception.

I remember saying that Mignolet had done nothing, this season so far, to deserve a demotion, but then someone said something like "should we just wait for him to make a mistake, better make a switch now", which I thought was a good point.
So yeah this post is pointless.

@manwithnoname

Ha, that could might well be the case with the keeper situation..

However like the Liverpool boom-bust cycle we all have come to know and cherish (kinda) over the past many years this is just another area were we have developed an irritating habit of being amazingly predictable.

You have merely predicted the expected one could argue, it's still a good shout though.. hope and believe you could get Origi wrong still mind.

PS I have never made a wrong predicton on here btw. Just look at Bendtner, almost scoring two for Forest in the weekend. Both in his own net, but who cares.. Targetman.

It was an understandable desire to see Mignolet out of the team as quickly as possible. There was probably not that much obvious reason to do so based on his performances in the early part of the season, but it's been obvious Mignolet wasn't good enough for two years.

Equally, most sensible people had concerns about Karius, either based on his weaknesses that had been documented in Germany, or the fact that few had actually seen him play very often. That concern was obviously brought to the fore when we actually did play for us, and looked like a jittery spastic.

It's weird that such accurate and obvious concerns were so loudly shouted down, with divvies banging on about him being "the second best keeper in Germany" and bollocks like that, as if it had any relevance or impact on how he played here.

I think the fairest assessment, and one I will repeat from a post I made on Oct 1st:

"Klopp has a difficult choice to make. Because they're both fucking shit"

And while I do agree that maybe Klopp's too stubborn to admit he was wrong about Klownius, the other reason he might have for not bringing Mignolet back is that he isn't really much better. It's not like we have Ray Clemence sitting on the fucking bench.

To address the point Ryan made about expectations, I expect & expected to fight for fourth this season.

So in that respect I'm happy where we are in the league. However it's not so simple, because we played great football & looked easily the best side in the league in many games, & having beaten most of the top sides to get first place, we are now throwing away that hard work by dropping points against shite sides.

To add to the negatives the dropped points are avoidable. It's not a case of the team being knackered, or just bad luck, it's stupid, mostly easily fixable reasons.

So yeah, overall, we should be happy, but the manner of the recent dropped points, & who they're dropped against, is tempering any positives in a big way.

Maybe we should move wijnaldum further forward to his Newcastle role when Can is back. That way Firmino can go central.

I don't get why we buy young keepers. Buy 30 odd year olds who've won shit.

Like who?

Claudio Bravo? That fucking mong is worse than Klarius.

There doesn't seem to be that many great ones knocking about. Still annoys me that United bought Van Der Sar from fucking FULHAM and got 6 years out of him.
