West Brom vs Liverpool

That should be a yellow, no? Beautiful skill from Sturridge judiciously fouled at the cost of nothing.

It's the kind of goal we'd once have failed to score, in the kind of game we'd once have failed to win. I like it that we're putting that right these days.

I was about to reply with this.

It was neatly and precisely worked against a defence that was in well placed to deal with the situation and that in previous seasons we would have failed to unlock. I find that even more encouraging that a 30 yard screamer.

Half time.
Don't know what to make of that.
We are in neutral and still winning so can't complain.

We seem to playing in 3rd gear for some reason. Nice footwork and running by Sterling and Coutinho but very little cohesion overall.

I hope Rodgers tells them to stop fucking about in the second half and get the game won early otherwise West Brom will start to get more belief and... well... we've been there before.

Half time thoughts:

* a bit too sloppy for my liking - we need 1-2 to more goals or we'll be very nervous.
* improvement from Aly Cissohoko ... Keep it up ...
* Coutinho again working his behind off, and showing some lovely touches.
* Sterling is playing very well - love his confidence, but I hope he remembers he plays best when people are passing to him in space.
* Toure needs to stop dribbling so much - it's comfortable but it's just asking for problems.
* Overall, solid half and let's get 45 more minutes like this and a 4 pt lead over Everton, 5 over Spurs and 9 over Manure.

Yeah bit of a none event of a game so far, great goal and Coutinho and Cissokho have both found themselves in promising positions, though their final ball has been lacking. We could really take these to the cleaners today if we turned it on.

Gerrard has looked good again in the defensive role, and Skrtel has marshaled the back line well, We look like we could do with Allen to keep hold of the ball better in the middle of the park, or give Alberto a go.

If we play in the same casual way against Arse we'll get hammered

We aren't playing that well but we haven't needed to . But the big concern in a game like this is you wonder can West Brom be as bad in the second half . They may well be but i hope we don't regret not stepping it up a little. All it takes is a poxy goal and we could struggle to get the win .

Gerrard has been good also.
He's seems to be hungrier in the tackle which is always a good thing.

We're not likely to, just like we didn't the other night against Everton. Some games just pan out this way, it's difficult to put it together in every game and slaughter everyone. We might look a bit lax but we're winning and doing what we have to do.

Strangely low-key match. But if we win and don't take much out of the players then that's alright by me .. keep them all fit and fresh for Arsenal.

Ming - 6.5 - nothing much to do but his distribution seems to be improving.
Cisshoko - 7 - some good runs, no fuck-ups but still so-so crossing
Toure - 6 - could've scored, nobody showing in MF has stymied his passing somewhat on 2 occasions.
Skrtel - 7 - as houses
Finnegan - 6.5 - not giving much away
Gerrard - 7 - as houses, some excellent DM work so far. He's more than getting the hang of this lark.
Sterling - 8.5 - our MoM so far
Henderson - 5 - giving the ball away via poor passing and poor control on a few occasions
Coutinho - 7 - nice runs but again lack of options on a couple of his runs ended up with him losing it
Suarez - 6.5 - relatively quiet but sublime pass (or was it a shot) 😉
Sturridge - 6.5 - tap in is pretty much all he's done so far

Attacking has been poor, but our pressing all over the pitch when we don't have the ball has been pretty impressive. Guys are working their asses off to get the ball back when we lose it. Also good to see that at one point, Sturridge was even sliding back to cover for Cissokho when the latter went on a run up front to attack (low cross was intercepted). Good to see Sturridge also crediting Suarez for the assist.
Need to shift up a gear or two on the offensive side to make this game safe.

Gerrard is a little too deep for me....I would like him to take the kind of positions Xabi Alonso used to take.

But he has tracked runs from midfields quite well.

Flannagan with a brilliant block. in the right place.

Coutinho is so poor in front of goal considering his quality.
