It would enhance the UEFA Cup/Europa League if the winners did get a spot on the Champions League. It's not as if the Champs League is reserved for only the league winning team from each country anyway.

I guess from UEFA's point of view, that would be sort of putting the official stamp on the fact that the Europa Cup is an inferior competition to the CL. To make the reward for winning the Europa Cup the fact that you would not have to be in it next season would seem like a put-down.

dont put them straight in the champions league, they would have to go through the qualifying stage, like a team finishing 4th for example

they lose their play off they can defend their title.. 🙂

That seems pretty fair suggestion, actually. I think there should be a significant reward for winning the Europa, and a playoff spot for Champions League would do the ticket. As you said, if they can't pass that, then they can defend the title.

I like.

Even if such a rule change wouldn't benefit us this year, I think it's something that should be implemented for future years.

I said that myself you know the other week. Barcelona would be the only team I'd get enjoyment out of, and at times this season that's been the case too. I think our club is teetering on the brink and I'm not sure we'll come out of it on the right side. I started a thread on it a couple of weeks back. I tink we could be fucked long term.

Obviously I wouldn't stop supporting Liverpool, but I'd end up having to look elsewhere too for some enjoyment in the sport without becoming completely disillusioned with the sport. I can barely cope with it at the moment, it's so fucking depressing.
