I'm sure I've just heard Defoe has done his hammy and will be out for a few weeks. Or I could have been dreaming......?

Yeah, I saw a headline yesterday that he was out injured. However they have that Russian fella on fire now.

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe will be out for a "few weeks" after suffering a tear to his hamstring, according to manager Harry Redknapp.

The news will be a blow for Champions League-chasing Spurs and England boss Fabio Capello, with the Italian naming his World Cup squad on 16 May.

And Redknapp confirmed: "It's a grade-two tear but it will be a few weeks. He is struggling."

Defoe, 27, has netted 23 goals for Spurs in all competitions this season.

And he joins an already lengthy injury list at White Hart Lane with Tom Huddlestone, David Bentley, Aaron Lennon, Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate all on the sidelines.

Tottenham are currently fourth in the Premier League and have a game in hand on Liverpool who are a point behind them in fifth.

But with Manchester City and Aston Villa also breathing down their necks, the injury could not come at a worse time for Redknapp's team who will have to rely on Peter Crouch, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Eidur Gudjohnsen for their striking options.

Let's hope he is back for the big games in April

Defoe will be unavailable for Spurs' trip to Stoke on Saturday and will also miss the FA Cup quarter-final replay against Fulham on Wednesday.

Premier League matches against Portsmouth and Sunderland also look in doubt, while the striker will hope to be fit to face Arsenal on 10 April, before facing Chelsea a week later.

If he is not playing by then, Defoe's biggest concern will be to make Capello's 35-man provisional squad for the World Cup in South Africa this summer.

Defoe started the recent friendly against Egypt but was replaced by Crouch who scored twice in the 3-1 victory.

Villa 2 Wolves 2. Carew with both for Villa, flag could have gone up for both, but the 1st was well offside.

4 points behind Spurs with 8 games left whilst City are level on points with 2 games in hand.

This is looking very ominous.

I wrote off 4th place after the wigan debacle, I'll also add its entirely possible we'll have to win the uefa cup to quality for europe at all.

I'd like a bit of Spurs luck. They've been incredibly lucky and everything seems to be going their way.

Offside goals and red cards. It looks like 4th is theirs to lose.

George was too busy bumming a steward in the toilets.

I had to laugh when Aldridge was bemoaning the fact that the winners of the Europa Cup do not get automatically qualification for the Champions League.

How many times do we need to scam our way in?

We could of course just get a manager who is up to the task.
