I'm 42 now and for all of my mature, football-supporting life, I've been desperate for us to win the league. I've seen top, top players typically let down by dross players surrounding them; the eternal promise of new managers, new philosophies and new Zidanes; and come tantalisingly close only to be denied by cruel twists of fate like Macheda, Gerrard's slip, and Kompany. COVID was just a piss take.
I've endured Man United dominate under Fergie, the nouveau-riche likes of Blackburn, Chelsea and Manchester City catapult themselves to champions. Hell, even Leicester pulled it off. It's always seemed to find a way elude us.
Of course during the time, there's been massive highs and experiences that fans of most other clubs could only wish to have been privileged to have. However, its always been about the title.
No doubt this might have felt different in my 20s or if able to celebrate like pre-COVID, but when the final whistle went on Thursday, I actually felt a weight lift off me rather than, say, the ecstasy of Istanbul. After so long, its done.
As I reflect on finally achieving it after so long, this site and the characters on it have been a major part of the journey towards the title for me, and I just wanted to pay homage to everyone, and particularly everyone behind the site, by saying thanks for your role in it all.
