I thought we won.

Fine, point taken.

Three, actually.

Two thoughts.

Suarez is the bees knees.
£16 Million down the drain.
[/quote]

I thought Downing was £20 million.

You think Henderson had a bad game? I thought it was his first good game on the right.

No coincidence that Downing's only dangerous move came from the right. He was crap on the left. Johnson was crap. We played far too narrow, as usual. But, Henderson was better, Carroll was better, Adam was better, Suarez is brilliant, first clean sheet, very positive overall.

Downing

Downing needs a goal. Shame he didnt get it tonight.
2-0 win. Decent win all around. No point in getting hung up in any negative thoughts today, lets enjoy the 3 points.

Oh, and its about a year ago since Hodgson said Northampton are a formidable side prior to the Carling cup game at Anfield.

Loved the 3 points and beating him.

I agree with Hansern, I haven't given up on Downing yet. I think people are getting to caught up on form and not looking at the big picture. He was very impressive early on and if he gets back to that now with Carroll starting to hit form too they'll both be putting smiles on our faces.

I buy that, but not permanently, especially cause he is probably our best right winger and second best left winger.

-Kelly is the best right back at the club right now.
- Carroll has the touch of Kuyt, occasionally sublime, often shit.
-Downing is low on confidence and is unwilling to take any chances
-Henderson is a player on the up, slowly, but wanders in field way too much for a right mid, exposing his right back.
- Lucas and especially Adam can pass the ball but do so too slowly most of the time
-We have played better than today without winning on more than a couple of occasions this season.
-WBA are shit. Well done Roy.

Zero goals, zero assists is abysmal whichever way you look at it, from £16-20 Million midfielder.

And oh yeah, he's premiership proven whatever that means.

Hindsight is 20/20, problem is, what now?

We need someone who can play on the left or behind the striker(s).

Mata
Hazard
Jovetic

If it's possible I'd even recall Aquaman considering Gerrards recent injury.

zero assists is more a failing of his team mates than lack of ability.

Yeah giving up on Downing after 10 league games is a fool's achievement; oh. Joking Modo, you know I love you but this is a bit tedious. Especially because we have one of the world's best young left wingers in our youth ranks so we are not buying another left winger.

Haven't really given up on him, but his performances aren't even encouraging.
He's not contributing, what's the point in having him on the pitch. It's just annoying that he can't even get passed the fullback and that his crosses often doesn't get passed the first man.
To be honest I expected more from Downing than I did from Hendo and Adam.

Despite Downings poor start I still want another midfielder and Jovetic has currently scored 5 goals in 8 games for Fiorentina and on top of that he has 2 assists. Fiorentina has had a terrible start to the season by their standards.
We should definitely go for this kid.

Last time I mention him for a while.

Regarding Raheem, well he is an exciting prospect but he's still only 16 years old. It's too soon.

He was doing all those things in his first handful of performances though, he's just hit a rough patch. Sterling should be in our team within 2 years MAX, and we have Downing and Bellamy to cover LW till then.

How often have you watched Jovetic? Where does he play and where would he fit into our 442?

Doesn't matter a fuck what he was doing in his first handful of games mate, fact of the matter is he's been poor in the last 4-5 games and on that basis he should be dropped in the next game. Maxi or Bellamy would be a better option for us in my view.

Just because we paid £20 million for Downing, it doesn't mean he can't be dropped.

Yes I have watched Jovetic and you're right he's a Suarez type player but he's also a winger.
He can play on the right and on the left. Tricky player with great vision and ball control.
I'd love to see him together with Suarez. Just as much as I wanted to see Aquilani and Suarez together.
However this season he's mainly played behind the striker and to be honest I don't think a 4-4-2 formation suit him.
He's more of 4-2-3-1 type player.

Thats a huge problem because we aren't getting away from a 4-4-2 with it being Kenny's favored formation and Carroll and Suarez really starting to click. We will build the side around them for as long as Suarez stays here. I'd therefor rather spend the money on someone who compliments them rather then an understudy. It's why I want Ozil, he'd be like our version of Silva cutting in from the right mostly and being able to play behind a striker or on the left when needed. He probably isn't available but I feel young players have to get frustrated at Madrid always getting substituted and never getting a run of 90 minute performances. It seemed that as the 60 minute mark today Ozil started looking to the sideline just wondering when his number would go on the board. You got to figure Hazard compounds the problem.

True, but I wouldn't say that our 4-4-2 formation is set in stone. As soon as Gerrard is back (AGAIN) well have a three man midfield with Suarez playing either on the right or on the left and Carroll upfront.

I don't think Kenny has any intention of playing Suarez on the wings, he hasn't yet. The only games Kenny goes with 3 in the middle are against the top teams. My assumption is that will change if Carroll's improvement causes an increase in trust. He has done a lot of hard work in the past couple games.

Three points. Thats what I wanted. Andy to score was nice aswel as it will do him the world of good.

We won without Gerrard and Carragher in the team and kept a clean sheet. Yeah it was only WBA but still nice to see the players step and get the job done.

I told Andy last week I believe we'd win this game.

I'm glad we did.

I think Kenny will get things right more often than not, and we can still what Dumbledore's army believes we can do. BELIEVE

He did last season.

True, I think that was more a product of how few people were healthy. I think if Carroll and Suarez are healthy we will go 4-4-2. But thats pure speculation and not something to argue over.

True it's a bit off-topic.

Anyway we did well today and I'm expecting 3 points against Swansea next weekend.

Then it's Chelsea.....AWAY!

I think I'll get my hands on the first half sometime this week and re-watch it. Was a nice performance and the 3 points is all that matters.
