Man United (H)

It was at Anfield against a really poor Man U, who barely touched the ball. You can't compare it to losing against Man C away.

Season we won the league we drew 1-1 against a really poor Utd side. Season we won the CL we drew 0-0 against a really poor Utd side. Drew again to Utd 0-0 in the 20/21 season.

We've been poor in the last few games. Same today especially in the last 3rd. No delivery
Our strikers wouldnt score in ...(whatever expressions you want to put there)
Looks like Salah, Diaz and Nunez lost all their ability and confidence to score..

2 were away, 1 was at home. We still dropped points to a poor Utd side in each of those seasons. It's not the be all and end all.

We've had a 100% home record until now, our home form really isn't an issue.

Funnily enough I think Arsenal will suit us better as they’ll play a higher line and try to attack - which means we’re conceding.

Also funnily enough - I think Arsenal suits Darwin better.

So… it’s Diaz I’d drop and play Darwin on the left with Gakpo as a false 9.

I’d start MacA, Jones and Slobbers in midfield - Endo’s going to get targeted by their press (Mac will too).

I got a bad feeling when we lost the toss and had to attack against the Kop in the first half. Fucks up the balance.

The two times Tsimikas made a terrific overlapping run and Mo and Nunez electing to shot instead of making the pass sums up our awful attacking play today

This. That's our season in the forward line summarized in two identical moments...

So often, it's the wrong decision when the right one is so glaringly obvious. Salah does two of those fucking drag to the left and curl it into the top corner jobs a match (but when's the last time he actually scored one?!?!?) and I haven't the words to describe whatever Nunez was trying to do after refusing to play Kostas in.

You'd substitute teenagers for the decisions that our forwards make all too often.

I don't think grav and szob should play together again.

Exactly - start the bring back Jones campaign please.

I kinda expected that today - they were never going to turn up in bad form against us - they defended for their lives, and we dominated possession as expected. A lot of spaces saying if we play like that against Arsenal we will get smashed, but the truth is we will have more space against Arsenal and playing like today may lead to clearer chances for our front men. I expect to win next week against Arsenal, but today I honestly thought there would be a chance we could have lost it.

Im left wondering do people actually watch the games when the are saying endo was motd... The guy isnt great in the tackle and is slow in releasing the ball.. The whole midfield and attack was terrible. Utd were useless and we weren't able to create anything and let's be honest we have been absolutely dog shit over the last 5 or 6 games despite getting the results.
We've rode our luck against some absolutely terrible sides all season so this isn't just an isolated poor preformance, we've gone backwards if anything. It nearly feels like we are house of cards and everything could come tumbling down any second..

I agree with most of the above, but the truth is - I don't think things will come tumbling down, because we have naturally talented midfielders who are young and can run, - this means there is a strong chance in-game recovery from performing badly. We have only lost once this season, and we have an entirely new midfield. The fact that we are playing below par in terms of decision making and still 2nd in the league at this stage - it shows how fucked up the rest of the teams are. I don't know what to expect against Arsenal next game - but I know they will be well up for it.

Was that the Nunez one where you could practically hear his donkey brain cogs beginning to whir when he was presented with options, started to think and seemingly became overwhelmed by thinking, paralysed and unable to do anything.

Also… while we’re on the subject of Darwin - with Utd sitting so deep they were practically on their goal line - I was impressed he still found a way to be offside.

It’s like his superpower.

Trent’s chance was the one.

Had the whole side of that goal to score into as the keeper was a statue.

Close but no cigar.

Good to see the world is caving in again after the first time in forever we didn’t score in a league game.

I thought Gravenberch did well, he drove the ball forward, tried to break through their defence but was so out of sync with our front three that we didn't get anywhere.
Honestly Gakpo should play upfront. He might have not had a great game but he looks the most competent of our attackers atm.

The only thing positive about that performance is that Ali is one step closer to winning keeper of the year.

Jones has done next to nothing to warrant a starting position. Szobo and Graven, even when iffy are much better than him. Even Harvey has stepped up with some crucial cameos.

Ibou's chance was the one where he turned on it.

Also for me the fact Klopp brought on Gomez before Harvey or Jones signals to me he isn't fully happy with the inverted system.

Jones found himself with a shooting opportunity inside the box on his stronger side, does he open his body up create half a yard of space and lash the ball towards goal? No. Jones does what Jones does and looks to take 20 touches before cutting in and before you know it the chance is gone.

I think they'd be fine but it's difficult to judge when Szobo was so off his game yesterday. Passing far too heavy on numerous occasions. No surprise Klopp subbed him.

That was the most incompetent midfield performance for some time, and we’ve had some shockers over the years especially last season. Slow and ponderous, umpteen touches to control the ball, look up (never mind being aware of what’s around you), pass sideways or backwards. Rinse and repeat.

What a cesspit of negativity this place is.

We're one point off the top & about to play the leaders. We have won every match at home and just drawn for the first time against the mancs - reminds me of winning every game and then drawing against the mancs in 2019.

Its fucking Christmas, even if the mods wont acknowledge it

Cheer the fuck up you miserable bastards

This. Although that draw in 2019 cost us the title and we didn’t go for it!

Felt like our front five got swept up in a flood of nerves and emotion, like they spent all night fantasising about the match instead of sleeping. I don't see us winning any finals.

We need more players with blood in their veins, like Jota. Less chest thumping and fist pumping.

What I saw was 'expectation' or overconfidence. Just show up and the goals will flow, hence all the speculative shooting instead of creative invention. This later transformed into desperation. Had we just been patient the goal(s) would have come - United were just awful.

This, so much this. We go again. There is a title that can be won here.

I said before the match I feared this more than Arsenal. Now you see why.

I'm glad we got it out of the way now. Saturday we should see a reaction.
