Look at Can before you blame Ming for that one as well.

I'm sorry but goals change games and Ming far too regularly fucks up in horrific ways... It encourages our opponents and disheartens our own team and fans alike...

He needs replacing. End fucking of.

I don't know what this has to do with anything. He picked the best available players, like I did.

That doesn't mean that at least three of those starting players shouldn't be in the starting XI. Which is my point. We need a new goalkeeper, another CB, another CM and another attacking midfielder.

And my posts yesterday are not designed to denigrate or mock Klopp. He's a brilliant manager and I'm still delighted - and a bit amazed - we got him.

I simply want to discuss and exchange opinion about what I feel are several interesting areas:

(i) His relentless and increasingly tedious "Everything's great!" "All my players are wonderful!" schtick. No, they're fucking not. Quite clearly and obviously they are not. We're 9th in the league. we just drew 2-2 at Anfield vs West Brom and lost 2-0 to fucking Newcastle.
Oh, but no! That's Jurgen being dead clever and cunning and motivational. Right, but I thought it was his "refreshing honesty and direct no bullshit" style everyone liked? Or is it only sometimes that he's honest and direct and doesn't talk bullshit? i.e. when you decide he is. Or isn't.

(ii) The idea - shrinking in popularity now, obviously - that Klopp and his team of football magicians can simply breeze in and FIX all our shit players. Not just fix, actually. MAKE THEM WORLD CLASS. We don't need investment, or at least 5 new players, just sprinkle Klopp's magic pixie dust everywhere and we can be Champions! As if. We need to spend a load more money. Stop pretending.

(iiI) His passion and that weird fan celebration thing at the end. His repeated refusal - until forced - to shake anyone's hand. And the rank hypocrisy when the same people who bark constantly when Mourinho, or Wenger or whoever act "unsportingly" seem to think it's OK when our manager does it, very obviously, because it's Tony Pulis and he's a cunt.

And I'll be clear now. I don't fucking care if he shook Pulis's hand or not. Give a fuck. Equally, I don't care when any other manger does it, or doesn't. I don't make a big deal out of it or affect some kind of irate faux-outrage about it. Because I'm consistent.

That's all really. It's not the start of some Anti-Klopp crusade. I am delighted he is our manager. But he's not magic.

Hmmmmmm, but what is the point in him saying "Ive got some really average footballers", aside from you feeling better because you'd know he agrees with you?

So he goes and says that, then we lose against Palace and Newcastle, and everyone says "well the players cant get themselves up to 100% because they know 5 or 6 are up for the chop, so the dressing room is in pieces"; the pressure increases on him and the team, and the price of the replacements exponentially increases because of our perceived desperation for new recruits. That would just be retarded.

Youre complaining about him not being something that he has never even claimed to be. This whole "no bullshit...lives or dies as a straight talker yadda yadda" schtick comes from the forums. 1) he didnt say it 2) theres a difference between playing straight and being gullible and naive. I'll be glad if we get our transfer business done on the quiet without any of the usual hoopla. I wont get the same chub-on from reading all the links in the papers for months on end before the deal is done, but i'll sacrifice that for not paying 200% value for the players we want.

I agree with you to some degree, I'm just wondering who can was marking during the build up to their second goal.

It's a genuinely transitional season. That ought to be obvious. Klopp is a good manager and he's assessing his squad and planning ahead. That should be obvious, too. But the people who seem to be getting over-excited are the ones monitoring the predictable hype, which is coming as much from non-fans as it is from within the fan base itself. I find the matches very absorbing because they are mini-experiments and case studies. There are all kinds of possibilities suggested by how they develop. But don't get exercised by the results, good or bad. No reliable pattern is going to develop. But the laughable eagerness to start questioning Klopp is ridiculous. As a club we should still be dazed by our good luck to get one of the top managers in Europe, but, no, some are sitting there whining about him not smiling right, not saying the right thing, not being honest, not being dishonest, on and on it goes. Get a picture of Hodgson, gaze at it and count your blessings, you daft sods.

I'm not really questioning him. I'm questioning those who talk bollocks about him.

I get the hype, but his every act and utterance is greeted with the type of giddy awe and hysterical, gushing reverence usually reserved for Papal visits to the Ring Of Kerry. I think some realism would help, in that we need lots of money to buy several top quality players, and expecting some Dortmund-esque league triumph with Lucas, Allen, Mignolet and Lovren anywhere near the first team is NOT going to happen.

I don't like the incessant chat about how good his squad and players are, being interpreted as a sign that we're actually in pretty great shape. Which we aren't.

I have stated several times I am still very happy - and slightly amazed - that we have him as our manager. But we need to stop believing in his magic beans. He doesn't have any.

And that is where I am directing my complaints, quite clearly. I couldn't honestly give a tuppeny fuck what Klopp says or does, as long as he wins football matches.

I suppose it's a more general frustration in that when we lost to Newcastle last week, there seemed to be a genuine sense of bewilderment that we, Liverpool, under Jurgen Klopp, could POSSIBLY have lost that game.

Really? He played Joe Allen and Lucas in the same midfield. I don't care who he is, or how good he is, that team selection was asking for trouble. And the biggest issue is that such a team selection was even possible at Liverpool. Ergo, we need lots of new players. And I don't want this Klopp-mania to distract anyone from that fact.

That's football though, it's likely to happen with most managers and especially at this club. We want to believe in a messiah, really, and the way everything is hyperbolic we'll either be overstating someone's brilliance or overstating their flaws.

I do actually think Klopp has something a lot of the top managers don't have (and something oddly in common with lower league managers) is a mentality of looking to get the best out of what he has. I'm not sure there are many high profile managers (especially in this league) whose first reaction isn't to want to sign new players as a reaction to things going wrong.

Agreed. I much prefer Klopp's approach than van Gaal's. He says that the United supporters shouldn't have high expectations because he has a bunch of shit players.

I agree with manwithnoname that it was a bad tactical error to play Lucas and Allen in the same side against Newcastle, but I am sure that Klopp is a manager who learns from his mistakes and he is still finding out about his players.

I'm getting a little sick of the hype, not the hype from the media in general, but from our own PR team & the nauseatingly poor LFC tv (I thought our new owners would have had that side nailed what with it being their only real area of expertise). All through this game there were adverts on the hoardings for "Klopp to LFC, the story" telling when it aired.

I wouldn't be surprised if they release some dvd of his interviews with players & legends making predictions about his future too.

It's like the kind of shite Everton would do. That's what's pissing me off.

I'm not sure that just because it's a "normal thing to do in the Bundesliga" means we have to do it. Perhaps the Germans have a culture that simply enjoy gathering in large crowds, cheering, chanting and singing in unison, regardless of the message or occasion? Like a good old-fashioned rally?

Don't mention the war.

One day we'll go back to having a manager whom no one else likes or cares about or finds remotely interesting, and it'll be nice and quiet again. Just be patient, peeps.

Some bizarre shite on here...

Personally I ain't getting tired of the motivational positive "shtick" in the slightest, we fucking need to dream and believe or we end up always waiting for the worst. True enough we've had some shabby performances but we've also had a couple or three belters thrown in there, that's progress right there...

We've also been playing in that fucking tedious midweek shit near enough every week since he came in and had truly monumental injury list.

The mans done a cracking job so far IMO, yes he's cheesy a bit but he is also just what we fucking need.

Hopefully with the European break we might be able to gather a little more consistency going... And a equalizing goal in the 95th minute is not to be sniffed at, fucking United would have liked one I bet you.

Now Cmon Leicester!

When was it decided that everyone loved Klopp cos he was brutally honest, as Clint keeps harping on about?

I don't remember signing up to that. I think people like him because he's infectiously enthusiastic and looks like a brilliant manager who should, fingers crossed, do a great job. Pointing out that he's not always honest is a waste of fucking time.

Yes, I know we have that Messiah tendency. I've been party to that myself.

But I think I'm a bit wary of that Klopp mentality you mention, and you've actually got to the very crux of my concerns.

I moan about his comments about how happy he is with his squad, not because I have an issue with mendacity or whatever, but more because I worry that he, his staff, and lots of fans actually, genuinely believe it. He has created amazing teams in the past, often with less expensive or less well-regarded players, but that isn't going to work with this squad. Lucas is not Gundogan. Firmino is not going to magically transform into Aubamayeng. Origi isn't Lewandowski.

And of course when he gets the chance to bring in HIS own choices, and work with them, I'll be more confident. He wasn't always about the unfancied "Money ball" signings either, given he spent £25m on Mkhtaryan (sp), but there is no chance at all that we can win the league even with Klopp, unless he is given a LOT of money to buy a LOT of new players. At least four or five.

Because he's not magic. And that's what is needed to win the title in this country: money.

I'm assuming from that although you think Mingnolet is shit, you also think that Bogdan is shitter.

I have no evidence that Bogdan is better or worse than Mignolet, really, and nothing he has done in his career so far has helped make that decision any easier.

We need to buy a top goalkeeper asap. Everyone knows this, and has done for years.

My theory is that Mignolet is a fucking liability currently & therefore it would be hard to imagine Bogdan doing any worse.

Also, the last time Mignolet was dropped when he returned to the side he improved somewhat, (although he still isn't the answer obv) so worse case scenario we shouldn't be any worse off than we are now by trying Bogdan.

There's been a load of people harping on about his refreshing honesty and open and direct interviews, and how much of a welcome change it has been to the Rodgers brand of middle-management bollocks. Apart from when they decide he isn't being honest on purpose, which is also clever and refreshing and smart.

My thoughts on this are that one of his first priorities was to improve the self-belief of the players, and telling them repeatedly that he's happy with them is part of this. But yes, he's not going to be completely happy with the squad because it isn't good enough to win the league. He would have known this before he turned up. And you're right, money talks arguably more in this league than most.

I do think though that he's concentrating on mentality and getting them to be (slightly) better than the sum of their parts because this is something he feels can help him steal a march on teams that have been spending more and spending better for the last few years, because everyone that's decent above us bar possibly Spurs now, have question marks over their mentality.

We need a Klopp mural like that Moysie one that burnt down. "You don't need trophies to be a winner...but he is a winner!"

That was boss, and so very Everton.

Mignolet is a brilliant keeper when he does not have to use his brain, but when he has time to think about what he is doing, that's when the problems begin. One thing I noticed yesterday is that once he has decided to do something, he does it irrespective of any change in circumstances. For example, when he has decided to throw the ball to a team-mate, he still goes through with it even if an opponent is bearing down on said team-mate.

Maybe Simon's wife needs to have words with him about this. 🙂

Hahahaha! That makes him sound actually mentally ill. Like, not a goalkeeper who needs replacing, but as a person who needs to seek professional, medical help.

Some might have been, others like his celebrations, others his hats, teeth, whatever. It's all just part of the general excitement and positivity - which does have a sound basis. Do you think you're making some interesting point in noting that some of the symptoms are contradictory, or something?

Who cares? It's harmless. Hell, it might even help keep the crowd singing.

I quite like his hats and glasses.

Yeah, I've noticed that. He also seems to follow the reverse, so if he's caught out by coming out & missing the ball he then spends the rest of the match doing the opposite, hence why he barely moved off his line after fucking up yesterday.

He's just not capable of making split second decisions well. Which for a goalie is a huge fucking problem, as it's basically all they need to do.

I'm not sure I want Leicester to win. Which is so weird.
Yeah, logically speaking it would probably be better for Chelsea to win.

I can't being myself to want that though, no matter how hard I try.

Hopefully Leicester win & them being ahead of Arsenal again will make those mentally fragile twats at the Emirates fold like a pack of cards, as they seem to do so often.

Yeah, fuck logic. Chelsea are horrible and I want them to lose. But I do want someone to thrash Leicester soon. They're getting cocky. Hopefully we can batter them .
