I don't think anyone is criticising Klopp, indeed we're all still falling over ourselves to declare our love for him. However, this weekend we saw a different side to the guy...the smile gave way to a little more snarl (no bad thing perhaps) and some of his answers about things he didn't see and couldn't comment on were a bit Wenger for me. We're all right behind Klopp but there's no denying we're liberally applying double standards here.

Too right we are.

If an opposition player did what Suarez did we'd hate him (Costa is very similar in many ways & we hate him). If another manager did some of the shit Rafa did we'd tear him a new one.

Being a footy fan means you're a hypocritical twat a lot of the time!

There's hardly anyone involved in football who can universally unite all fans in the same opinion of them. I bet there's even some fans (probably Senegalse) who actually don't hate Diouf. I can't really think of anyone who is universally liked either...erm.......Zola, maybe? Seems like a decent sort.

Yeah anyways, Benteke was crap, didn't look arsed, but we scored two goals at home against a Pulis side. That should equal a win... Really, the probs are with Ming, and more broadly set pieces. I'm sick of people scoring from them at Anfield. Everyone except us.

I really hope he's lying his arse off about the players, and specifically the keeper situation.

This is the only Diouf fan

That is utterly disgusting, please remove it. I don't care if it's supposed to be funny or whatever, but there's no excuse for anyone in this day and age to actually like El Hadji Diouf enough to black up and do your hair like him. Sickening. Even by Leeds standards.

I think the Mignolet problem & the set piece problem are pretty much one & the same.

He has to be lying about Mignolet, it's impossible for him not to recognise that issue. That infers he's also lying about the rest of them.

'Leeds standards'

Now there's an oxymoron.

Yeah I know it's the same thing. The prob with Ming is, he's a shithouse. No amount of training will fix that.

It really used to wind me up hearing Houllier pronounce "El Hadji Diouf".

Ell Adj Dyoooof.

Yep. I reckon that 35 year old keeper will be coming in to tide us over til we can get a long term goalie.

Even if we stop conceding from set pieces then we also need to start scoring from some.

I'd love to see average conversion rates from corners & free kicks for the top sides in the league versus ours, cos I think ours are very low.

If we could bring that rate up then we'd be doing much better in games, cos we seem to get an awful lot of corners compared to other sides.

Those two things (proper keeper & scoring an average amount from set pieces) would make a massive difference to our game.

.

35 is a perfect age for most keepers. Not Reina coz he was too fat, but when Manure bought Van der Sar you knew he'd be ace for ages. Ditto Cech for Arsenal. Ming might even be half decent by then, if he has some real life trauma to deal with and grows a pair.

Exactly.

Not every keeper has to be a shouter, or a border-line psychotic. Also hes relatively young in keeper terms - they almost universally get better with age. However, Simon is a shithouse and no amount of experience or cajoling is going to get around that.

Maybe he was harshly treated to begin with, perhaps some of the criticism has been over the top (mine included)...whatever... the situation NOW is that the crowd distrust him (which is clearly exacerbating his jitters), and the existing frailties in the defence (whilst not his fault) are magnified by his failings. No fucking LFC TV video montage of every single one of his above average saves is going to get us away from that

We're linked with Diego Lopez. He's 34. Might be a good short term option. He's 6"5 aswell which is a good start for commanding your area and against corners/set pieces.

I'm worried about the big man's poor form. He barely shifted yesterday again.

Good fightback, disappointing not to win at home.

Midfield balance was off.

Are we getting tired already of much gegenpressing?
It seems more half-arsed now, not in a pack, but rather a player or two just too late.

Wa

Watched Napoli at Roma yesterday. Pepe still head and shoulder above Mignolet and not an ounce of fat on him.

Bentekes heat map(s) available anywhere ? Should provide interesting statistical insight

It must be a horrible feeling for our defenders and team in general knowing there's a clown between the sticks liable to undo any of the good work they've produced. Number 1 priority for Klopp as far as new signings goes is to buy a new keeper. Mignolet is awful.

When there was a lot of criticism of Benteke after the Newcastle game, I said it was unfair because he wasn't getting any service. The problem was in the make-up of the midfield.

After the WBA game, I am reluctantly forced to concede that Benteke was shit. He got plenty of chances but presented little threat. I wondered whether this was the same player who monstered Skrtel at Anfield when he was playing for Aston Villa?

He just broke some long standing record for not conceding for over 550 or 600 minutes of football. He has been outstanding for Napoli this season.

I don't know what this has to do with anything. He picked the best available players, like I did.

That doesn't mean that at least three of those starting players shouldn't be in the starting XI. Which is my point. We need a new goalkeeper, another CB, another CM and another attacking midfielder.

And my posts yesterday are not designed to denigrate or mock Klopp. He's a brilliant manager and I'm still delighted - and a bit amazed - we got him.

I simply want to discuss and exchange opinion about what I feel are several interesting areas:

(i) His relentless and increasingly tedious "Everything's great!" "All my players are wonderful!" schtick. No, they're fucking not. Quite clearly and obviously they are not. We're 9th in the league. we just drew 2-2 at Anfield vs West Brom and lost 2-0 to fucking Newcastle.
Oh, but no! That's Jurgen being dead clever and cunning and motivational. Right, but I thought it was his "refreshing honesty and direct no bullshit" style everyone liked? Or is it only sometimes that he's honest and direct and doesn't talk bullshit? i.e. when you decide he is. Or isn't.

(ii) The idea - shrinking in popularity now, obviously - that Klopp and his team of football magicians can simply breeze in and FIX all our shit players. Not just fix, actually. MAKE THEM WORLD CLASS. We don't need investment, or at least 5 new players, just sprinkle Klopp's magic pixie dust everywhere and we can be Champions! As if. We need to spend a load more money. Stop pretending.

(iiI) His passion and that weird fan celebration thing at the end. His repeated refusal - until forced - to shake anyone's hand. And the rank hypocrisy when the same people who bark constantly when Mourinho, or Wenger or whoever act "unsportingly" seem to think it's OK when our manager does it, very obviously, because it's Tony Pulis and he's a cunt.

And I'll be clear now. I don't fucking care if he shook Pulis's hand or not. Give a fuck. Equally, I don't care when any other manger does it, or doesn't. I don't make a big deal out of it or affect some kind of irate faux-outrage about it. Because I'm consistent.

That's all really. It's not the start of some Anti-Klopp crusade. I am delighted he is our manager. But he's not magic.

Most of this is hyperbolic bullshit with a sprinkle of strawmen, but this fact stood out: "His repeated refusal - until forced - to shake anyone's hand"

Have I missed something? Did this actually happen repeatedly?
