vs Man City (A)

Allen SHOULD come in for Lucas. One midfield anchor (Gerrard) with the rest of the midfield hustling and harrying City's playmakers. Lucas doesn't have the athletism for that role. If he is to play then it's in place of Gerrard not alongside.

Nah

I think we'll struggle, and a draw would be a decent result, but we shouldn't get hammered. They were shite against a shite Newcastle last week

They were. And that is the hope I'm clinging to. I am worried we will start Johnson and/or Lucas. If they don't start then I think we'll do well and I could see us nicking a point (or even more if Sterling/Sturridge have their shooting boots on).

Think it will be a tight game and I'm always positive about us, but head says we'll lose with 1 goal, 2-1.
Its the Ethiad and City. Dont get much worse.

According to Tony Barrett

Mignolet, Johnson, Lovren, Skrtel, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge

Not sure about bombing out Manquillo to keep johnson in, but maybe he's worried about the disruption of introducing too many new players too quickly.
Hopefully he's right about dropping out fucking lucas for allen.

Let me guess Hansern will mention Clyne's run.
Ryan will dismiss it as a one off.
Hansen will say that Lucas has been wank for ages.
Pesam will pop in and say that Spearing is better.
Mark will jump in and call me boring for defending Lucas.
Dreamy will add his opinion on Lucas.
Ryan will basically tell him that his opinions are shit.
Etc etc etc

Moreno vs Navas two former Sevilla players who know each other, might be an interesting duel.

Right.

To be clear though; there is no one better in our squad at tracking runners and defending attacking mids. He has his faults Lucas, but he's superb at that role.

Replacing a all the "is" variants with "was" would probably be more accurate.

I'd be surprised if Markovic didn't get at least an extended run off the bench. The way we tore them open at theirs last year attacking from deep tells me Brodge might go at them again that way.

And that's Marko's game; running from deep, hitting them on the counter attack. He'll probably play his best games for us this year away from home.

Well, if he had tracked Clynes run they wouldnt have scored.
Skrtel was at fault with his positioning and the defence bar Lovren didnt push out.

But Lucas should have done a much better job tracking Clyne.
I'm made up he isnt starting tonight.

Since Rodgers took over, there have been an average of 4 goals per game in the league games between City and Liverpool. I think the games between the two clubs have been the most exciting, closely-matched ties in the league the last 2 seasons. Of course, it was great watching us obliterate clubs last season (especially some of the media favourites and pretenders), but in terms of evenly-matched thrilling encounters, City - Liverpool has been the game to watch. So looking forward to it.

isnt that shocking since he is here for almost two years now and we stil havent managed to do that. So when it happens, we will probably rape the goalfest even better
