Not sure what to make of the Solanke situation. Are we giving a decent prospect an opportunity he wouldn't get at Chelsea? Or are we blindly pinning hopes on someone who couldn't get near the first XI for a team we consider a close rival?
Having seen his performances so far, I'd lean towards the former.
So would I. He's not the first good player not to get a fair go there, and not always for good reason. Chelsea fans were not pleased when he was allowed to leave.

Danny Ings is a Danger Zone monster.
All 11 of Ings' league goals came in the Danger Zone – the six-yard box and center of the 18-yard box – and only one was a penalty. They were fairly varied goals as well: four headers, four right-footed, and three left-footed.
54.6% of Ings' shots (including that one penalty) came in the Danger Zone. For comparison, just 35.2% of Liverpool's shots this season came in that area. For further comparison, 31.5% of Suarez's shots and 42.4% of Sturridge's shots in 2013-14 came in that area. And Ings put 49% of those Danger Zone shots on-target.
Aside from Ings' goals totals, those Danger Zone stats aren't entirely dissimilar from what Suarez and Sturridge did in 2013-14.

We can't buy anyone until January at the earliest.
We have Sturridge, who is shot.
We have Woodburn, who is far too young & inexperienced, & doesn't often play as a striker.
We have Ings, who is being bedded in slowly, or something, but anyway, he seems unavailable for the time being.
Solanke, who is also young, but not dangerously so for a striker, & yes, is relatively inexperienced, but was extremely good in pre season & every time he's had longer than a few minutes has looked a better option than any other option we have.
I'm all for dumping Sturridge in January & buying another striker, but the likes of Vardy (an older stopgap solution) is probably the only type of striker we'll be able to get, so if Solanke comes in & performs well it means we aren't spending some valuable funds on a stopgap & can put them towards Getting Keita early, or finally getting VDV or another decent CB.
Does he? He has 67 league goals in 174 games for Leicester. With that one season in 15/16 being the stand out with 24 goals.
If he was available for a low fee we could clearly take a punt on him.
But soon to be 31 and with 2,5-3 years left on his contract, he'd still cost a shitload.
I would stay well clear given what he'll cost and the uncertainty of what he'd bring to the team in terms of goals.
I'd rather pay 20-30 mill more for Aubameyang. He's 2,5 years younger and actually does score a lot of goals.
Does it matter when he scored them? Torres record for us was brilliant and then he went completely off the boil. We should be buying on form, and he's been in form for three years now. He might be a late bloomer, but so what? We can't judge him on what he was doing 5 years ago, if we're thinking that way we may aswell buy Torres.

Because you're using his overall record as a key indicator, what's his record over the last three years? It's pointless talking about overall records when it's blindingly obvious that he's been one of the form players in the league for a few years now. You can see that without stats.
Fine, so age is against him and we have to think logically about it, but don't use goalscoring stats as a stick to beat him with when he's scoring goals regularly in a mediocre team (yes I know they won the league).
And he's well above the previous bracket players, like Downing, Adam, Carroll etc.
Vardy's a cunt for sure. And I think he'd be yet another one of our forward line who struggles when the opposition defends deep and in numbers, which is what happens in pretty much most games.

Well, his career seems to have had some very poor seasons in between which paints a picture of a striker that isnt a natural or a regular goalscorer in my opinion. He scored 13 league goals last season, is that impressive?
The season before that was very impressive, but was that a one off? Could be.
Does he have enough to his game to be the main striker against teams that sit low defensively and deny us space to attack in?
I dont think that he does.
When you add that, his age, transfer fee, goalscoring ability and stability from season to season and suitability to the team, I dont think it warrants paying 40 mill £ for him. In fact, fuck that.
Yeah. There is a lot to like about Vardy's game; workrate, pace, goals etc, but it wasn't that long ago that he managed 5 goals in an entire season, or something like that.
So yeah, he might be better than anyone else we have, but that's not saying much really. And when you factor in all that Hansern's already said about his age, cost, wages, suitability etc, it does make him quite a risky signing.

That is because the player is not able to feature in games that have very loud fans due to a problem with his muscles.
The German goalscorer had to be substituted against Besiktas in the Champions League due to the noise that the home fans were producing.
There are now fears that the same issue will occur at Borussia Dortmund with their famous ‘Yellow Wall’ known for their noise.
Though the player was ridiculed by some football fans for his issue on social media, it has come to light just what the reason behind it is.
When you look into it, it is just an extremely unfortunate condition and there really isn’t much Werner can do about it.
Reports explain that the player suffers from a blockage in the muscles of the cervical spine and the temporomandibular joint.
While that is jibberish to many, the important thing to note is that the stress factor is loud noise which can exacerbate such discomfort.
