UFC

UFC ON FOX 8 tonight. Bit of an underwhelming card. Main event is Johnson (great fighter) vs Moraga who I haven't really paid attention to in the past.
Will be interesting to see if McDonald keeps getting better.
Rest of the card is meh..

Johnson absolutely dominant. Has to be the pound for pound king. Another fighter right up there with him, Aldo, fighting next week.

Was impressed with Barnett and Pettis last night.
Barnett was always going to put Mir up the fence and wrestlefuck him. They both took a lot of heavy shots and looked unfazed, but that knee ruined Mir, and if the ref hadn't have stepped in then Barnett would have ploughed through him. Mir's knees and his neck went limp on that knee, it was defo a correct stoppage.
Pettis showed a lot of heart in that first round, he was getting wrestlefucked by bendo, and that was going to continue for 5 rounds unless he did something, so he came out and slammed about 5 kicks into bendo's ribs to slow him down, then got caught being the prat trying to cartwheel him. But that transition for the armbar was sublime, bendo is no mug on the ground, he's a JJ black belt himself.

Not for me Mr John. I wanted Jones to lose, but he defo won the last 2 rounds and I think round no.3 was the decider and he swung it with the judges. He lost the first two by a mile though.
Nice to see him get beat up and put on his arse for a change though.

A great UFC for a change. None of these poxy cunts like anderson silva just coming to fuck around, these guys wanted to fight. Sanchez and Cain the main men of the night for me.

Really Sanchez?
Cain just looks unbeatable when he's fit. Made Dos Santos look terrible.
He doesn't strike me as the most powerful heavyweight but his conditioning and stamina is out of this world. Don't see anyone taking his belt any time soon. Cormier his training partner should be the next in line.

Yep, I thought Sanchez had great heart in that fight, even though he was out-tagged by Melendez. Warrior spirit and he can take a punch.
Cain's conditioning is awesome even though he doesn't look like it is, probably my favourite fighter in the UFC, he turns up to fight, not piss about, the same can't be said about GSP, Silva, Jones.
It wont be Cormier, they've refused to fight each other. I guess it'll probably be Werdum. Even though I think he's average at best. But the HW div is pretty light for talent. I'm not sure who can get near Cain, they can't have him and JDS just fight each other every 6months. Maybe Barnett if he wins another couple. He'd just stomp Bigfoot (again), overeem, browne, nelson. Poor division, bit like the scotland of MMA - 2 decent teams.

GSP and Hendricks after GSP's controversial win

Dont get me wrong, GSP cuts up very easily, but he did get a beating in that fight, as did Jones in his.
I had Hendricks winning it 3-2, but he noticeably slowed off after the 2nd round. And I guess if you want to be champ, you have to really beat the champ, and doing it on points, by a single round, isn't really counted.

Do it like Weidman

GSP bores my tits off mind.

I'm fucking loving that result

Bet that stings, I've done it myself, and driven home a bike on it

Dana White (cunt)

Q: As you know, we love our hockey here. And it remains the only other pro sport that allows fighting. Curious as to your thoughts on fighting in hockey?
A: I’m not a big hockey fan. But I respect how talented you have to be to play hockey. Soccer? That’s a whole other ball. Can’t stand soccer. It’s the least-talented sport on Earth. There’s a reason three-year-olds can play soccer. When you’re playing a game when the net is that big and the score is 3-1 (and that’s a blowout) are you kidding me? You know how untalented you have to be to score three times when the net is that big? Now back to hockey. You have guys on skates with crooked sticks and you have to hit a puck into a net that’s the same size as the goalie. And at any time someone could take your head right off your shoulders and it’s perfectly legal. That’s a real sport that takes real talent, speed and all the things you need to be a real athlete. Now fighting is a part of hockey and has been since Day 1. It’s part of the game. It is what it is. I think we live in a world now where everything has been so pussy-fied. When I grew up we didn’t wear helmets when we rode our bikes. We didn’t have car seats. We didn’t have all this stuff. Now things are safer and we should be safer but let’s not go overboard. Fighting’s a part of hockey. Period.

Good result for Weidman last night, he's class. I think there's only really Belfort and mayyyybe Rockhold that can challenge him at 185, he'll wipe the floor with the rest of them. But, he's a bit big for 185, I think sooner or later he'll have to go to 205 as the cut must be killing him. But at 205, I think he'd be in trouble.

Well, what a massive anti-climax that 'super-fight' was. I thought that Cormier made a good throw of getting inside and having a scrap for the first couple of rounds, but then whether he was blowing or not, it turned into a poxy grappling-fest and he didn't do anywhere near enough to take the belt. Also rather embarrassing that he got dumped on his arse a few times from a wrestling point of view. I can not stand Jones nor his fighting style, but he is a good champion and seems to have a style that virtually everyone struggles to counter. I really hope Gus can get the belt off him as I'm not sure I can stand his poxy side foot knee strikes and failed jumping knees forever more. That or he goes up a weight and gets battered.
Cormier will need at least another 2-3 more fights and a couple of years before he gets another shot at the title now.

Cormier has never taken as much damage as he did against Jones and during the third round he just gave up. Jones broke him.
I'm no Jon Jones fan but he's a great fighter.
Everyone is pinning their hope on Gustafsson, but I'm not believing that hype. First he needs to beat Johnson and that's not easy.
Jones will most likely be the champion by the end of this year.

Ahhh but because it's Jon Jones, there's no issue. No ban, no overturning the result, no rematch. Just 'silly jon' and a bit of rehab. But when Nick Diaz got busted for weed in his system.......

Yeah he's becoming unbearable, but I'll still be supporting him and the other Irish fighters.

The three that fought last night train in the same gym as me, it gives the place a great buzz

Congratulations. He's your countrymen and of course you should support him.

McGregor is a good fighter, but I don't think he deserves a title shot. Yeah he's close, but it just seems like a money scheme from the UFC. It has happened before, but how can McGregor get a title shot before beating one of the top 3 contenders?

Truth is probably that they didn't want to risk him losing and instead put him in front a beatable opponent. Dennis Siver was never going to beat McGregor.

He's the one drawing interest at the moment, and mainly because he's knocking everyone out.

People want to see if he can continue to do it. Maybe a title shot is a little early but it's got as much to do with Aldo having beaten the others in the top rankings already as it does with anything else
