UFC

I don't mind the shitetalk if he continues to back it up.

If Aldo batters him then he'll look foolish.

Thought Gus looked like shit last night, didn't look like he fancied it and when he was pressured he collapsed. Bit of a bummer that Johnson has now got no.1 spot as Jones will ruin him, where's an on-form Gus I think beats Jones.
As for Hendo's stoppage lol .......

So Anderson Silva is the latest drug cheat.

2 steroids found in a sample from last month - the results of which came two.days after his latest fight.

They were about to do random drug testing in and out of competition, then at the last minute changed their mind.
Silva will make up some bollocks about it being to help his recovery and Dana will applaud him, just like they've cast a blind eye to Jones coke habit. That's 2/3 of their main big ticket stars. Only need Cain to get caught with a needle in him now.
Diaz got caught with weed in his system as usual, he always gets nobbled. They'll probably throw him under the bus though, ban him for a year and take half his purse off him.

Wow lifting a champs belt up in front of your home crowd.

Bit of a dirty dig to say the least.

Surely the most entertaining press conference in UFC history?

Well what a card that was. One of the best I've seen in a long long time. Some great fights, the Arlovski Browne fight was unreal.
Broken jaws, ko's, subs. Great night.

Well it looks like the UFC has deployed some very strict but very good new drug testing rules, most surprisingly for out of competition testing. They'll randomly take blood and urine from fighters 3 times a year, with no notice.
Excellent. But, I'd be surprised if they follow through with it or they could end up with half their fighters banned I'd have thought. Great idea though, should be implemented in football too.

For anyone that likes b-list MMA, there was an excellent (funny) work/fixed fight over the weekend. Kimbo vs Ken Shamrock. Was comedy gold - Ken puts kimbo on his arse a couple of times with the laziest singles/trips, then gets Kimbo's back AND neck, which for even an amateur grappler, vs a non-grappler, is game over. Let alone a master grappler like Ken Shamrock. So he gets Kimbo to tap only using one hand to choke him, the ref 'doesn't see' this tap, then Ken keeps Kimbo's back but seeming 'forgets' that you have to put your hand on your bicep and your other hand on the back of the head. A bloke with 30yrs experience of doing exactly this, seems to 'forget' and lets Kimbo get up, only for him to walk into a right cross with his hands down by his waist. Then falls on his arse, completely conscious, but the ref 'stops it' as he looks done. Brilliant. It was just like the WWE but not as convincing.

So Aldo, who clearly must have been caught on the hop by the UFC drug testers ( when his manager complained about their lack of Brazilian accreditation and got the sample destroyed) now has a sore rib and won't fight our loud mouthed Notorious.

Coincidence?

If a man is scared for his life, we can not force him to step inside and fight me," McGregor said. "Doctors have cleared him to fight -- it's a bruise -- but he still pulled out. Rightfully so, the belt should be taken from him and we will contest for the interim belt or, in my opinion, the real belt."

I think he should fight with a bruised rib, but it would be obvious that Conor would target it, so he'd be on a hiding to nothing when it went public - he should have just kept it quiet and fought with it.
I think if they're both fit, Aldo ruins him though. I like Conor, but he's getting caught up in a hype machine.
Mendes though, much like Conor, hasn't really fought anyone. Should be a good fight they as they both like a scrap.

I didn't realise Aldo has pulled out of so many fights?

Were there legit reasons for them?

He's fought 9 times in the last 5yrs, which is about average, but he doesn't seem to be ducking any of the top 10 so to speak. He's fought Mendes twice and beat him twice, beat Edgar, beat Lamas. Then he's beat others like Faber and Florian.
He does seem to pick up injuries, but nothing serious, and it's not stopped him fighting any top tier opposition.

It remains to be seen if Conor is top tier yet, he's fought no top level fighters so far. He's been served up 5 mickey mouse opponents in the UFC and got them out of the way. Should be a different fight against Mendes though. We'll have a much better idea of what he's made of. Still suspect that Aldo will easily dispose of whoever wins this fight.

It's a fractured rib. Different story now. I've had broken and fractured ribs and they're a bastard. No way he's training and fighting with that unless he's allowed a big bag of pain meds, which is going to put you all over the show. He should have fought with a bruised one, but a fractured one - no chance.

Just noticed this

Dana White confirmed it's not broken

The X-ray Aldo's camp submitted is a year old. And three other doctors have confirmed it's not broken.

Can't wait for this.

Three lads I have no business sharing a gym with fighting in Vegas

Good win for mcgregor, showed heart to come back and win that as he was getting dominated. Surprised Mendes gassed after lying ontop of him for 2 rounds doing not a fat lot, he got up and was fucked, not good for him.
Good win for mcgregor, but I didn't see anything there that Aldo and probably Hendricks wouldn't put away. As for the clowning and playing with his hair....

*edit*
And btw, it's a pity Dana and Lorenzo didn't agree to Conor's purse bet, he said he'd ko him in the 2nd

The minute before that KO Mendes looked like he was getting into a great position before Mcgregor managed to get to his feet.

Aldo can't dodge him for much longer
