Talented footballer but not sufficiently high quality to get excited about.

Hopefully this transfer window is about about adding quality not quantity for Rafa.

I want expensive star players to enhance rather than bolster our squad.

I have no idea where the money is coming from though
.

You've kinda answered yourself there havnt you?
It's a habit I've developed to thwart her indoors doing it for me.

I simply fail to see where Tuncay improves our squad. While adept at many positions, he offers no significant improvement on our backups in any of them. Given the prices quoted, I would sooner see that 8 M quid tacked on to another acquisition and have Voronin return to deputise Torres. Again, if Tuncay was free, perhaps there would be no harm in signing but we are talking about money that will very likely be the difference between us signing a top-class player or not.

So that's now FIVE Middlesbrough players we've been linked to: Downing, Johnson, Wheater, Tuncay and O'Neil.

What. The. Fuck? Are we aiming to catch our rivals off guard next season by mounting a surprise relegation offensive?

it's because they beat us. rafa becomes obsessed with players who score against us, and players from teams who beat us.

Crouch.

So one out of the 100 odd players he's signed?

Quite the obsession...

It's not that he becomes obsessed with teams that beat us, he does though place great emphasis on good individual performances against his team.

Pennant's another.

He's obviously obsessed.

Remember when he bought Kuyt after he scored that hatrick against us...oh wait.

Great point.

Oh.

Tuncay Sanli has admitted he would relish the opportunity to join Liverpool this summer.

The Turkey international was part of the Middlesbrough squad which slipped out of the Premier League at the end of the 2008/09 campaign.

He is expected to form part of a Riverside Stadium exodus this summer, and there are no shortage of potential takers.

Tuncay's selfless running and creative ability marks him out as an ideal foil to a free-scoring centre-forward.

That has attracted the attention of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, among others, who is keen to pair the 27-year-old alongside Spanish superstar Fernando Torres.

Rumours of interest from Anfield have now reached Tuncay and he claims a switch to Merseyside would appeal.

"Yes, I've heard something about that but nothing official has arrived to me," he said.

"Of course I would like to play for a big club

Yup he does. I know he really rated Yossi from his time in Spain, but I also think it was his performance against us in the FA cup final also played an important role in Rafa bidding for him.

He has looked great even when those around him has struggled which says alot about him.

I wouldn't be overly excited by this but wouldn't be disappointed either.

Can he step up to Liverpool's level though.

Ya cunt is an anagram of Tuncay.

That's the nickname sorted then.
Win!

On the basis purely of Ryan's post, I hope we dont sign Tuncay.

Its unbearable the amount of times the word 'cunt' with 'fucking' being a close 2nd.

There's plenty of precedent for this in our history, dating right back to Shanks and Paisley.
