I personally won’t look at him the same, I was just old enough to be let down by McManaman, and now when I see him analyzing or he’s a pundit for our games I feel no affection for him. Owen can get to fuck. I think the worst part of it is they all had the excuse we were shit, Trent doesn’t have that.

I feel less bothered. If Trent was the heartbeat of the team, or the only reason we won games a la Gerrard or Owen, or Torres, I'm sure the prospect would feel much worse. As it is, we'll probably be fine either wat
He's a brilliant footballer whose been instrumental to getting us back to the top, playing in so many massive games for us and being our most constistent creative force for years. Unless he does something stupid like sign for a PL rival when it goes to shit in Spain I'll only have good memories. I haven't even been on his case as he's tried to move more central, it's just his ambition and his desire to progress.
I begrudge him - there is still so much to achieve here - like another PL, another CL, another something else. So much to do - silly boy if he leaves and he also needs to understand - yes he is generational but at the same time he is a RB. RB's are never the highest earners at any club. At this moment in time the highest paid RB in world football is Reece James - so 10-20K above whatever he is earning should be good enough for him.

I know what you mean as a fan but I'm putting myself in his shoes. He's been here for what? Nearly twenty years. How long left at the top? Five or six?
We don't know what his ambition is or has always been. Maybe it's just time for him. Maybe he'll stay here forever, but I don't begrudge him either way. He might not want to look back at his career and think he really wanted to have a go somewhere abroad but didn't. He might look at the trophies on Gerrard and Macca's wiki every night. He might think he'll end up with the baloon doors. It's easy for us to say what we want him to do but it's on him and I get it.
No, fair play, definitely not looking at it through his eyes, just strictly as a fan. He’ll certainly win more trophies there but surely they’ll feel more hollow as he’s clearly a Liverpool supporter.

Reece James isn’t fit to lace Trent’s boots. Have a look at their stats last 3yrs and then their fitness records.
For all this Trent love in, he himself has not been consistent in the last 3 seasons.
