Trent, Salah and VVD

I still don't get why people think that nothing has been happening on the renewal front (for all 3) for 18 months. There were likely stalling factors (for a month or two) when staff left/arrived but the process would have been ongoing.

The club not having come to an agreement (with their respective agents) doesn't mean nothing has happened but it does mean no contract has been offered / put in front of them for the obvious reason they wouldn't sign it.

And then Klopp announced his resignation and everything went into cryo until a new manager was announced/arrived and not only his attitude and use of said players, but also the success and future of this squad, was of major concern to those players. So who would sign a new contract until the dust settled and they could see a successful future for both themselves and the team.?

Q. If it was You (to every poster in this thread) when would you have put your eggs in the Slot basket for the foreseeable future? It would be about now for me.

Do you be talking boring old sense and reality now.

It’s much more fun to get the pitchforks out and rage about inactivity.

Hopefully the 2 year rumours are true. I may have been all for selling him the other year, but ultimately, e've made zero effort it seems in succession planning. Hopefully the extension allows us to do that. Whether it's with Doak, or some random so far unknown beast

So thats very different from "Salah agreeing a 2 year deal". Why has it taken Hughes this long to make an "opening" offer? Fucking unbelievable!
What's unbelievable is people like yourself STILL not using those little grey cells !

As much as I love Trent, clearly there's a priority here (1) Salah (2) VVD (3++) Trent.

Short term I get the argument, but Trent is the one who'll still have a massive cash value in a couple of years. I doubt he'll sign but if he does I'll be as happy as for the other two.

If those comments from Trent about Slot being phenomenal are true, then I think he’s re-signing.

Real are looking like a mess and I think Trent wanting to wait and see how Slot would pan out before committing - we look like we’ll continue to challenge as under Klopp and Slot will definitely improving Trent as a player, which was what he wanted.

2 year deals for the other 2 is good, takes then up to the end of the next World Cup where they can retire from international football and de use whether the want to extend another season at Liverpool take a Saudi payday or hang up their boots completely.

Remember what Beamrider said.

Usually official contracts are offered when there's only T's to cross and I's to dot.

They aren't far apart it seems.
Just to clarify on this, in my view both the sending of an email with outline terms and the sending of a document ready for signature could be described as "offering a contract". I doubt the journos would have access to, or be aware of the significance of, this level of detail. They are puppets in this process.
The club could brief "we've offered a contract", meaning they've sent an email, and that would be true. At the same time, Ramy could brief "Mo has not had a contract offer", meaning he (Ramy) has had the email, but hasn't shared it with Mo, or meaning "we're happy with the numbers but there's no document ready to sign yet". Ramy would arguably be a bit disingenuous in that case, but he wouldn't be lying.
I think the Mirror going bold on this is a good sign - it suggests they are confident it's nearly done.
By contrast, I think Ornstein playing it down is not really that significant. It suggests to me that he isn't really in the loop as he talks about what it "doesn't mean" (rather than saying clearly what it DOES mean).
So for me, the mood, and the source, of the Mirror report are the better indication here, but don't place too much reliance on the words reported.

Actually… if it’s a 2 year extension it gives them both a season after the World Cup, which gives them both a chance to reassess what they want to do - retire at the top or we’re definitely in the sort of Milner space then… when they can get a 1 year extension and a door named after them, before spending a few seasons being injured all the time for Brighton or counting cash in Saudi or the US.

It's obviously because Hughes and Edwards are fucking lazy cunting useless fucking pathetic cunts who just sit about all fucking day on their fucking cunts the fucking dozy fucking cunts.
I don't think they wanted to offer him a new contract but his form and fansvl pressure probably put them in the situation they had to... We don't even know what the offer is or if it's just an offer to say look we tried to claw back a bit of public opinion.. Edwards quit before because he got the hump that Klopp went against him and got new contracts for hendo and Milner so if anything this situation could easily be down to him

Yeh, they're Dutch.

Sound. Specify the region, so I can gauge the probabilities of veraciity based on pop density. 🤣
