I get why lots of players do it, but hypothetically passing up the chance to captain Liverpool to compete for titles to play in the desert or the MLS at this stage of his career deserves plenty of judgement. He's still the best CB in the Premier League.

VVD has never struck me that he wouldn't want to continue playing at the highest level for as long as he can. He could still go to the likes of MLS in a couple of seasons and would still thrive there.
If money is the key motivator for the three then why negotiate with Liverpool?; they're never going to compete with PSG, Madrid, Saudi's etc financially.

Salah and and his guys know they can get a fortune elsewhere and that Liverpool are pretty dependent on him. Liverpool know that Salah is old will decline at some point, and he actually really wants to stay.
My hunch is that Salah will cave in and agree to our terms. I think the risk is that he goes almost by accident, with us having to sign someone like Isak basically as insurance, and then not being able to afford both. Maybe it ultimately comes down to whether a replacement is available this summer. If there is then gambling on Salah maintaining his level another couple of years makes much less sense.
