Trent, Salah and VVD

It's a no brainer for Madrid imo (despite how poor Trents been recently). If his form picks up, they've got some player on their hands for free, if not they'll move him on and probably turn a profit.

Is there a possibility we've promised better deals at the end of the season based on success? Something like "this is our best offer at the current time, but wait it out and win the league and CL this year and we'll agree to your terms".

I know it's fanciful, but is there any chance of something like that at play @Beamrider?
They'll be as creative as they can and nothing is off the table but I doubt it. If there's a load of extra cash going around at the end of the season it'll most likely be ploughed into the transfer budget.
If I were looking to hang something on the outcome of this season then I'd be looking at getting them to sign their new deals asap and including higher bonuses for winning the league and CL - sign now, you get a bigger bonus. Not sure the PL would be up for it though seeing as those bonuses are highly likely to pay off in short order - they have an issue with clubs doing stuff like that to get around the signing on fee rules.
We wouldn't want to go signing on fee as they are due every year, including if the player leaves.

I've been one of his biggest defenders (lol) on here for ages but after this last few months he can fuck off. He's been awful and even when he does something good he makes it all about him. There's a very spoilt bastard vibe about him now, and while he plays some of the best long passes in the world his defending has gone from acceptable to awful over the past year. His giving a shit seems to have done the same. Might be a bit of the Rashford syndrome in there. Highly speculative but I just can't see why someone local on massive money with an adoring crowd has decided he's bigger and better than the best club on the planet.

Tl;dr He's fucking shite, I don't think we'll miss him. At least not this version of him. He's having a terrible season and we're going to win the league despite not because of him.

If his head is already out the door, which I believe it is, then a trophy parade will the perfect sign off for him to close his Liverpool career. But if is there is any lingering doubt, and he hasn't signed a Madrid contract, then the sheer scale of the parade, and the emotions it brings, could swing any scouser and home grown player to stay, IMO. It's a cliche, but the connection to the city is generally broader around these parts than most of the country.

I'm not losing any sleep over it. I was done with him after the United game.

That was probably the best captains performance I’ve seen from Virgil. He looked confident and in control throughout.

Right from the off he was on our players. Look at Ali’s punch from their first corner. He was sold catch them. Second time Ali caught it.

Later on he was instructing Trent rather than screaming or giving him death stares. Pretty much doing it to everyone.

We never let it turn to chaos or become emotional.

I think he’s signed this past week. I also believe he gave the team, including himself, a right bollocking after Villa.
And that's why I made him MotM.

Mo mentioned in an interview that he and Virg met after Villa and discussed what they could do to improve things.

I think it came from that.

I really can't see him succeeding at Madrid. They're not the complete dominant force they once were, and he'll have supporters on his back after just couple of embarrassing defensive errors. Really think he's being advised badly, or his bromance with Bellingham is just that strong.
I would spit me cornflakes laughing if Real decided against giving him a contract.

Amen, brother.

I can't wait to see the back of him.

On Monday morning, Fichajes reported that Salah and Liverpool ‘appear to have found a point of understanding’ in long-running contract negotiations, with the Reds’ number 11 now ‘increasingly close’ to signing a new deal.

It’s added that the LFC hierarchy have ‘worked intensively’ to try and retain the Egypt international, whose renewal is considered a priority not just because of his incredible numbers on the pitch, but also because of his importance within the dressing room.

At present, ‘everything points to’ the 32-year-old agreeing to stay at Anfield beyond the current campaign.

‘appear to have found a point of understanding’

I’d guess that understanding is that no non-Saudi club would offer what his agent wanted and to take the performance based contract we have on the table.

That is based on nothing but gut feeling.
