I know it's all BS but I just want it to happen soooo badly 🙁

Liverpool could soon unleash a new forward pairing of Karim Benzema and Alexandre Lacazette if Brendan Rodgers has his way.

The Reds are looking for more firepower up front this month, following Daniel Sturridge's injury and now talks are underway with two targets.
It was reported earlier in the week that Rodgers was finalising a £38million bid to bring in Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, and joining the Frenchman on Merseyside could well be fellow countryman Lacazette.

The Lyon striker is one of Europe's leading marksmen this term, hitting 23 goals in as many appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit - and his exploits have not gone unnoticed. According to the Daily Express secret talks with Liverpool are underway over a £25million transfer, although Arsenal are also in the race.

So, given Brendan's comments about Ballotelli not getting in the team because he's not been good enough in training and essentially can't press or play with aggression, expect him to leave in this window?

I would't rule out a deadline day switch to Turkey (Gala?) or something. But only if we get the nod for someone else availability.

That said, I still haven't given up on him. If the penny can just drop with him (and I think Rodgers will be more encouraging than many other managers) that he has to press aggressively and he'd be loved for it, he's got so much raw talent still yet to fulfil.

The early signs were that Balotelli and Sturridge could gel too.

Benzema and Lacazette
Brendan Rodgers wants both Alexandre Lacazette and Karim Benzema, according to the Metro.
The duo have been linked with summer moves to Anfield throughout January, with the newspaper believing that both could somehow come this month in a £63m double deal.
If both can be brought in, the Metro say Rodgers is likely to let go one of Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini or Mario Balotelli leave.
Meanwhile, another striker linked with the Reds is Inter Milan marksman Mauro Icardi, who the Daily Star claim is tempting Liverpool, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
The 21-year-old has been hailed as the 'new Ronaldo' in some quarters, and has been in good form for the Serie A side this season.
And finally, Sportsvibe say the Reds have registered an interest in Stoke star Bojan Krkic.
The 24-year-old has impressed during the first half of the campaign scoring four goals in 17 appearances for the Potters.
However, Potters boss Mark Hughes has told prospective clubs to not bother in their interest in the Spaniard.

Delph has signed a new contract at Villa so people can relax about us signing him on a free or otherwise now......

Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph has ended speculation linking him with Liverpool by signing a new four-and-a-half year deal with the Barclays Premier League club.
The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer but the club announced Delph's new deal on Sunday afternoon despite interest from those at Anfield.

Liverpool were reportedly interested in signing Delph as a potential replacement for captain Steven Gerrard but manager Paul Lambert has taken steps to prevent them from doing so in January.

Delph has ended speculation linking him with Liverpool by signing a new contract with Villa
Delph told Villa's official website: 'The club has given me a great platform to perform and a great opportunity to showcase what I can do.
'The fans have been great with me, the chairman has been absolutely fantastic with me and I have a great relationship with the manager and I see the boys here as my brothers, my family and I am delighted to stay here.
'I am a loyal person and committing my future will hopefully show everybody what type of guy I am.
'I feel like this is me - I love the club, I love being here and I want to put 100 per cent into everything I do here. This is my club and I want to be here. That's why I am committing my future.
'Hopefully it will give everyone a bit of a lift and show the fans that we are looking to do big things here and bring excitement back to the club.
'We want to get through this season, do well and I feel the up-and-coming years will be big. There was no way I was going to bail out. I am here for the long run.
'The fans have been the same. I am sure they will stick with us, help us get through this season and then looking into the future, it looks promising to me.'

Liverpool could be set to make a move for the man dubbed the 'new Sergio Aguero' according to reports today.

£12m-rated Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto is said to be interesting Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as he looks for a striker capable of adding goals to his team.
Argentina youth international Vietto has scored 12 goals in 23 games for the 'Yellow Submarine' since a £5m move in the summer transfer window and has attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest names, including Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

The Reds are reportedly ready to steal a march on their rivals by looking to sign the 21-year-old in January.

Available on Free Transfers this Summer (some really really good players in this bunch) :

Dani Alves (Barcelona)
Age: 31
Brazilian right back admits he could leave the Catalan giants this summer and is now free to negotiate with foreign clubs – although he insists he is not interested in negotiating a move yet. Would command big wages but a proven talent.

Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)
Age: 27
Several clubs are said to be interested in signing the German defensive midfielder – Bayern Munich included – but would be a brilliant signing for the Reds. Offers everything including height, power and a real presence in midfield.

Yevhen Konoplyanka (Dnipro)
Age: 25
Wide man who was coveted by the club in January. Has scored four goals in 12 league games so far this season and can play across the front three, but is consistently linked with Spurs.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus)
Age: 30
A mainstay in the Juve side which has dominated Serie A in recent seasons. The right back, signed from Lazio in 2011, can both attack and defend; has also played in two World Cups.

James Milner (Manchester City)
Age: 28
One of the Premier League's most under-rated players. Milner is a workhorse who will always graft for the team – but don't discount his ability on the ball, either. Offers the possibility of playing wide, central midfield or even right back.

Andrea Ranocchia (Inter Milan)
Age: 26
Club captain insists he will sign a new contract soon – but commanding central defender, who reads the game well, is yet to put pen to paper. Very strong in the air and still young enough to learn; would be a brilliant addition to the Reds back-line.

Sergio Romero (Sampdoria)
Age: 27
World Cup goalkeeper heavily linked with the Reds. Quick off his line and agile, the Argentine would be an improvement on the club's current options between the sticks.

Maxi Pereira (Benfica)
Age: 30
Uruguayan right back who has already been linked with the Reds in the Portuguese media. Solid and dependable, he comes with experience at the highest level, having played in the Champions League and World Cup.

Andre Ayew (Marseille)
Age: 24
Ghana international who can both create and score goals. Rapid with and without the ball, he plays predominately on the left and would give the Reds a fine option in attack.

Stefan Reinartz (Bayer Leverkusen)
Age: 25
Versatile defensive player who can play in both defence and midfield, but features more as a holding midfielder. Injury problems dashed hopes of World Cup call-up, but would bring experience of playing in an attacking side.

Ignazio Abate (AC Milan)
Age: 28
A quick, tricky full-back who predominately plays right back – but could also put in a shift on the other side if needs be. Has been with Milan since 1999 but the World Cup defender may want a change, and Anfield could be that change.

Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa)
Age: 29
Still no deal for the big Dutch defender, who helped keep Villa up and was phenomenal at the World Cup. For a team who needs a commanding centre-back with proven Premier League experience, he would be a no-brainer.

Andre-Pierre Gignac (Marseille)
Age: 28
Powerful but slow French striker who has flourished under Marcelo Bielsa's swashbuckling style of football, which would give hope he could adapt to Brendan Rodgers' ideal way of playing.

Fabian Schar (FC Basel)
Age: 22
Swiss centre back who rose to prominence during Basel's fine run to the Europa League semi-final. Good on the ball and a danger from set-pieces with youth on his side. Could be long-term Daniel Agger replacement.

Winston Reid (West Ham)
Age: 26
The New Zealand defender who has been a big part of West Ham's fantastic season would offer a good option as Brendan Rodgers looks to keep his defence fresh. Previously linked with move to Anfield.

Luiz Adriano (Shakhtar)
Age: 27
This season's Champions League top scorer, who hasn't failed to hit 15 in a season since 2008. A proven goalscorer both domestically and in Europe.

Nigel De Jong (AC Milan)
Age: 30
Tough-tackling defensive midfielder who still has plenty to give, despite his advancing years. Won the title with Manchester City in 2012 which would serve him well.

Neto (Fiorentina)
Age: 25
With the goalkeeper situation becoming increasingly uncertain, the Brazilian could be a viable option. His performances last season led to a call-up to the national side this season - although injury denied him of a debut – and has refused to sign a new deal with Serie A side.

Yohann Gourcuff (Lyon)
Age: 28
French talent who has fallen off the radar through injuries and loss of form, making just 51 starts since moving to Lyon in 2010. But if fit and firing, would be a fantastic creative outlet, and Rodgers excels in turning careers around.

Danny Ings (Burnley)
Age: 22
Former Dorchester Town striker who is now one of England's biggest young talents, rising to prominence with 21 goals in Burnley's promotion season. A goalscorer who is figuring out life in the Premier League; a good goal-poacher.

Danny (Zenit St Petersburg)
Age: 31
Ageing but talented Portuguese midfielder who can play across the front three. Managed 13 goals from those positions last season but has scored just three this season. Comes with international and Champions League experience.

Carlos Zambrano (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Age: 25
Peruvian centre back who claimed the Reds were interested in him in 2013. Has been injured for a large part of this season but has been praised for his aerial dominance and strength at the back.

It actually quite a relevant point. 6 years ago there was almost parity between the 2 currencies £1 = €1.02 and now it's worth €1.34 so we're getting a considerable discount (although not as much as 10 years ago when it was €1.50 to the £1).

Obviously it's not just the transfer fee that is under consideration here but wages paid in £'s are worth more now. If the Euro weakness continues there's gonna be a lot more foreigners wanting a move to the EPL.
