Transfer Rumours

Lallana is the central midfielder.

I'd argue RB can wait or is at least down the list of priorities.

We don't need another CB - unless we sell one.

We also arguably don't need a striker - what we need is an attacking midfielder who will operate on the left side.

We do need a left back though.

I think we need a RB and a LB; Flanagan is good enough but I don't think Glen Johnson is up to the demands of the full back role with our approach to games. I'm not sure we don't need a striker, especially if we're persevering with 2 up top; beyond Suarez and Sturridge there's not much depth there, unless we're counting on Borini (I don't really rate him) or there's some young player I don't know about ready to make the step up. I think we'll go for two full backs, a couple of midfielders, a wide attacker and a forward.

Why would saints sell. I hope they try to build not take cash from higher teams. Good club

Because their billionaire owner died and his family are not interested in bankrolling them and they are losing money hand over fist and need to sell to balance the books.

A club like Southampton doesn't happen very often.
I'd feel sad if all their hard work went up in smoke, but if the vultures are circling we should too.

Who was that guy that Pesam rated - Kieran Trippier?
Sounded ideal for us but no rumour sadly.

6 players????

So it'll boil down to should we add 6x$10m players or 3x$20m players.

Borini's not great, but better than Aspas - his time at Sunderland will have helped him & with his work ethic & movement he might do better with more quality around him.

Yep; we need the full backs as a matter of priority, and then you're into needing options for a squad in the European Cup. Agree that Borini is a better player to have than Aspas.

Lallana and Shaw are good players no doubt, but we would be paying around £60m for the pair. At that price you want guaranteed, top level footballers, and there are question marks that they are. I'd like both players, mind.

£15m for Lallana max - but it will be more than that
£20m for Shaw max - but it will be more than that
and £15mish for Kono

That would represent a good summer at those prices, but we would probably need to strengthen other positions, too.

I think it will be wages that stop us signing Shaw, especially if Man Utd are offering him 100k. I doubt we'd offer him more than Sterling is on, considering his age and experience, and that will probably give the upper hand to other clubs willing to pay more.

Of the two, I'd prefer to sign Lallana anyway.

I'm surprised there aren't more of you considering Suarez leaving in the summer.

Wish I could have that much faith in him staying.

I kind of believe the rumours that he'll stay unless one of Real or Barcelona come in for him. I can't see them doing that, but if they do, there's not much we can do but get as good a price as possible, and hopefully sort it as early as possible.

I have a pretty big feeling that Real will come calling. I just hope that the buyout clause Suarez negotiated with his new contract doesn't undervalue him.

I'm calm about the prospect of him leaving.

He scored a shitload of goals, redeemed himself as much as he realistically could in English football (though non-Liverpool fans still hate him), got us into the CL and within touching distance of the title.

We can't really have asked for much more. If he goes, he goes and I'll wish him well.

A couple years ago there didn't seem to much in the way of great young talent coming through but feels like that's changed and we will have the opportunity to buy well given a load of cash.

I agree. Don't want him to go but won't blame him if he does.

I'm just surprised no one is considering the prospect & thinking about how we may bolster the squad to help stem the goals bleeding out of the side if he does.

It's an interesting scenario, spurs experience this season tells us we'll definitely be weaker, but we have a manager who seems to excel in bonding the players & getting the most out of them, unlike that shower of shite.

In my opinion it's 75/25 that he'll stay. He'll only leave for Madrid. If he goes we'll get Bale money.

The problem with Trippier and Ings is that it's gonna be hard to prize them away now that Burnley have got promoted. They would want about £20m for the pair which is very much at the top end of their current value. Also Burnley know that, any chance they have of staying up would disappear if they sold their best 2 players.

I saw an interview recently with Ings and his fellow striker (no idea), and they seemed to loathe each other. So I wouldn't be surprised if he fancies a move. Also, how could anyone put up with Dyche's stupid voice for more than a few times before shouting 'Gah, gnnah, Donkey!' and running off punching people?

On Wikipedia, it says that both contracts run out Summer 2015.
Surely if we made our interest known now there's little Burnley can do.

We can loan or swap them Aspas, Alberto, Tex and whoever else needs games and can do a job in the PL
