Transfer Rumours

Also we want Schmelzer from Dortmund. Decent option. I'd rather have whoever Dortmund replaces him with.

Micah Richards wont go to WH. There is talk of us, Spurs and Arsenal being interested.

Cattermole is a typial Allardyce player. I feel for the West Ham fans if that happens.

The Schmelzer link is from Sport Direct but I'd be happy if thats true. Very good player.

If i had to have one of them from Sunderland I'd probably take fabio back as he's probably okay with a bit pay back up role to sas. Cheap wages too. His movement fits or style too. I like Johnson but he's hardly been consistent over the years. Keep fab and splash the cash for a top left winger or an amazing left attacking full back.

Liverpool are still hoping to land Barcelona forward Cristian Tello - even though the Spanish club are facing a 14-month ban on signings.
Tello, 22, has been on the Reds' radar since before Brendan Rodgers replaced Kenny Dalglish as manager, and Barca may be willing to sell for around £12m.
The La Liga champions have promised to appeal FIFA's decision to deny them any transfers either this summer or next January, and if they are eventually free to do some close-season business then Tello may finally be on his way to Merseyside.
Contacts are still open, and the Anfield giants regard Tello as an exciting young talent who could boost their squad ahead of next season's return to the Champions League.

On Wednesday night David Moyes took it upon himself to go on a little scouting mission to Portugal - with many a player said to be in his viewfinder.
He was taking in Benfica v Porto - with the likes of Ezequiel Garay, Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando on his radar.
But it was another player who reportedly caught his eye.
According to journalist Duncan Castles it was Andre Gomes that impressed him most - and it is easy to see why.
But he would be fighting Liverpool for the player. In January they were said to be after the player to supplement an area of the pitch in which Brendan Rodgers is said to believe extra legs are needed.
The Portuguese midfielder, valued at around £12.4 million by the club, is wanted as an upgrade on Joe Allen and as cover for the injury prone Brazilian Lucas Leiva.
However it seems that Valencia are in pole position for his signature.
It came after he had his economic rights sold to a third party along with team-mate Rodrigo in January - a third party who are owned by Peter Lim - the Singaporean businessman regularly linked with a takeover of the Mestalla club.
However that takeover is becoming a protracted saga - and the availability of Gomes may be called into question this summer.
So it seems that United and Liverpool might be ready to battle it out for the 6ft 2ins technical maestro this summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool have received a massive boost in signing Rodrigo Moreno after Benfica striker expressed his interest in playing in "another league."
The 23-year-old has been a transfer target for the Gunners in recent times, while Liverpool have long been interested in landing the £28m-rated star. The Spaniard has been in impressive form for the Portuguese outfit, which has attracted interest of top clubs in England.
Rodrigo is open to a move away from his current employers in the summer. The striker admitted that he is happy at Benfica, despite claiming that he is unsure of his future beyond this season.
"I do not know what will happen next year. I really like Benfica. Of course there is interest in playing in other leagues, but playing at Benfica, the club that I like, would not be too bad either," talkSPORT quoted Rodrigo as saying.
The striker has featured in the Premier League while he was on loan with Bolton Wanderers during the 2010/11 season. A move for Rodrigo in the summer could bolster Arsenal or Liverpool's strike force for the next campaign.
Rodrigo's agent Adalberto Machado has admitted to holding talks with Benfica regarding the Spaniard's future at the end of the season.
"I expect to meet the club at the end of the season. We want the best for the player and for the club, but at the moment Rodrigo is only concentrating on Benfica and winning titles at the end of the season," Machado told Tutto Mercato Web.
Meanwhile, Benfica manager Jorge Jesus has revealed that Brendan Rodgers's side are interested in signing Rodrigo. He believes Liverpool's interest in the 23-year-old striker is normal.
"It's normal. Every Benfica player is in a big window. The league is full of high quality players so it's normal for other clubs to be interested. Rodrigo is going through a good moment," the Benfica manager said.

Gomes makes it the third midfielder of the type we've been linked with over the last 12 months - Dani Parejo and Jorginho being the others. All are very much in the Joe Allen mode - technically decent, hard-working players who can fit in at DM or as one of the advanced CMs in the inverted triangle, without however excelling in any particular attribute.

I can see Rodgers' idea - he wants competition for Allen and Henderson for the two advanced CM slots (as Lucas really isn't mobile or quick enough to play there). Except, I really think we should be looking at the best talents out there in those positions - the likes of Gomes and Parejo are about the level of Allen and Henderson, and while they'll certainly add depth and competition, I'm not sure they'll provide a huge quality upgrade.

You can argue that the two advanced CMs in Rodgers systems really provide work rate and energy, with the quality and creativity coming from the deep-lying playmaker (Gerrard) and the no. 10 (Coutinho), and so we probably don't need 'world-class' talents there. But I think we'd be so much more an intimidating side to face if we had a Yaya figure in there.

Basically, I want us to look at Pogba or Witsel - they'd cost 30 million or more, but I think that's the position we need to spend the most on in the summer.

LB, LW and back-up ST are of course the other positions to strengthen, but I feel there's enough quality talent out there which can be bought for reasonably cheap money.

You could also argue that we need to spend big on AM - but frankly, we need competition rather than an upgrade in quality there. I'm happy with Coutinho and do believe he can kick on to be in the Silva/Iniesta category.

DM is the other position you could argue we need to change - but I think Gerrard at DM is pretty much here to stay, and despite my very strong initial reservations, Gerrard's done quite well (I still think there are issues but these issues aren't really highlighted in the PL as they would be in Europe). Lucas can provide good cover.

Dream on with Pogba, hes one that is out of our reach, he will cost nearer 50 than 30 or basically whatever Juve can milk out of PSG, wouldn't suprise to see a Cavani type fee for him.

If Barca decide to sell Fabregas, would you be interested?

I guess you'd have to put up mad money to compete with the likes of Utd who would no doubt go all out for him.

Yes, I'd be interested (I think he'd fit very well into Rodgers' football philosophy), but I wouldn't be prepared to splash the whole transfer kitty on him.

Liverpool to make serious offer for €45 million Spanaird
There has been some reports emerge which have claimed Liverpool are seriously considering signing striker Iker Muniain from Spanish side Athletic Bilbao in the summer window.
The highly-rated young man has a buy-out clause of €45 million and many reports in the media claim the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and a few Spanish clubs could make a swoop.
And now, according to the Daily Mail website, his contract ends next summer and Bilbao may be keen to cash in rather than lose him on the cheap

I used to always want us to sign Iker Muniain. Would be happy with that. It's be like having two Sterlings.

Liverpool to land shock target as move edges closer to being done
Reports have claimed Liverpool target Yannick Bolasie could be on his way out of Crystal Palace after talks over a new contract stalled.
The winger has been in superb form this season, making 26 appearances in the Premier League and playing a vital role as Tony Pulis has steered the club away from the relegation zone.
However, he only has one year left on his current deal and the two sides are unable to agree a new contract.
That could alert as whole host of teams in the Premier League according to the TalkSport website.
And one of those clubs could be Liverpool, who have been impressed with some of his performances this season.
Brendan Rodgers is looking to add more width to the squad this summer, and although Bolasie is still a work in progress, many see the potential in him to be a top Premier League winger.

Liverpool keen to bring Frenchman as Spaniards to sell for £20 million
Reports have come out and claimed Liverpool have joined the chase to sign highly-rated Frenchman and Real Sociedad star Antoine Griezmann in the summer window, according to the Daily Mirror website.
Griezmann has excelled for Real Sociedad this season and it is understood that the Spanish club will listen to offers around the £20million mark.
The likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Arsenal have all been linked, but boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to steal a march and sign him up.

how has he done this season? I don't follow la liga that much, but i sensed that he had slightly waned from the early promise he showed?

45 m euros for some 'starlet' who's done sweet fa for 18 months and has 12 months left on his contract?!

They can do one

I would LOVE IT!

2 failed attempts followed by him joining us? Beautiful.

It'd be a double whammy as the gooners cry about it too. Large fee and wages however, so unlikely.

Yes, it is talksport, but I am very excited about this link:

The San Siro has proven to be a fertile hunting ground for Brendan Rodgers in his time at Liverpool.
The signing of Philippe Coutinho from Inter in January 2013 marked the beginning of a turning point for the Reds when, along with fellow winter arrival Daniel Sturridge, the Brazilian sparked some life into the team, helping to complete Rodgers' puzzle at Anfield.
Rodgers could return to the same stadium for some more business this summer, if reports are to be believed. talkSPORT's Transfer Spotlight takes a look at Mateo Kovacic, who is being linked with a move to Merseyside...
Name: Mateo Kovacic
Date of birth: May 6, 1994
Birthplace: Linz, Austria
Position: Midfielder
Club: Inter
International appearances: 8 (Croatia)
Honours: Croatian League (x2)
What's the latest?
Though handed the No.10 shirt at Inter when he arrived at the San Siro in January 2013, Kovacic has struggled to tie down a regular place in the team, starting only 13 games for the Nerazzurri this season. His situation isn't entirely dissimilar to that of Coutinho during his time in Italy, with both considered huge talents but not playing as regularly for Inter as would perhaps be expected. The Italian press claim Liverpool could offer up to €20m for the midfielder, a figure that could be too much for Inter to refuse.
Did you know?
1) Kovacic started playing for LASK Linz in Austria, before moving with his parents to Zagreb at the age of 13, where he joined Dinamo's academy.
2) In November 2010, Kovacic made his professional debut for Dinamo Zagreb, scoring in the same game against Hrvatski Dragovoljac. He would go on to play 73 games for the Croatian side, winning two league titles.
3) The midfielder signed a four-year deal with Inter in January 2013, and was handed Wesley Sneijder's number ten shirt with the club, a sign of the great expectations Inter had for the Croatian. Kovacic has yet to match the Dutchman's brilliance with Inter, however, with manager Walter Mazzarri clearly not considering him a starting player.
4) Though versatile and capable of playing in multiple positions ranging from deep in the midfield to behind the striker, Kovacic prefers to play in front of the back four, driving forward with the ball at his feet in order to spot a killer pass. A good dribbler, there are, however. some doubts over his work-rate off the ball.
5) An experienced youth international with Croatia, Kovacic made his senior debut on March 22, 2013, playing the entirety of a 2-0 home victory over Serbia.
He says
"Italian football is very difficult, you don't get as much space as in England or Spain, but you learn so many things, such as defending and in the tactical sense. Mazzarri talks to me a lot, he knows I'm good with the ball, but I need to figure out how to move without it." Kovacic speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport.
