Transfer Rumours

Cheers. That article is retarded though. It doesn't effect lallana at all. All that it does, if true, is push city's homegrown players agenda to the limit.

All that said, similarly to bony, I think if I were the player being objective, then Arsenal or Everton would offer better long term prospects.

He'd improve our options tenfold

Solid winger, workrate of hendo in the middle, great passing range, can strike with venom.

Yeah. He'd be a solid acquisition

Won't happen though

Think he's probably just looking for an improved contract.
He knows he has City by the balls because of the homegrown rule.

Especially with Barry, Lescott, Sinclair and maybe Rodwell looking to leave.
Fair play to him.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is considering a surprise summer move for Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore, according to reports from TuttoMercato.
The 24-year-old ace spent last season on loan at Hull, establishing himself as a key player in the newly promoted Tigers’ first-team, boosting their safe passage to a second season in the top tier while helping them to the FA Cup Final.
Rumours have indicated that Steve Bruce is already planning to make his stay at the KC Stadium a permanent one, but now he looks set to face competition from the Reds.
Rodgers is believed to be looking to bulk out his midfield options after securing Champions League football, and could use Livermore to replace Lucas Leiva – who has been linked with Inter Milan.
Livermore is viewed by the Northern Irishman as the sort of player that would fit well into his system and provide Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Joe Allen and Philippe Coutinho with cover.
Despite being a graduate of Tottenham’s youth set-up, the versatile central man has only made 11 starts for the Lilywhites, and is thought to be available for around £8m due to the club’s wealth of options in his position and need to fund their next manager’s transfer business.

Only seems to play well when coming off the bench. When he starts games he's not that effective.

Would take Milner all day long. Criminally underrated player.
I was talking to a City fan over the weekend who was pointing out the obvious, that we need more quality players because of our Champions League involvement next season, I replied that we need to find 5 or 6 James Milners i.e. quality players who might not always start games but you can trust them to come in and play very well as and when required.

If we signed 2 x £20m players this summer and then 4 x £10m James Milner-types I'd be more than happy.

Lallana £20m
Shaqiri £20m
Milner £10m
Richards £7m
Lovren £12m
Remy £10m
Cole - FREE

Our squad would be good enough to compete on all fronts.

I think we are linked with every player to get Spurs on the headless chicken runabout

Lovren would be a very good signing. But they bought him for 8 mill. If he doesnt have a release clause or something they'll want top dollar.

@MirrorAnderson: Mark Hughes says he hopes to sign Oussama Assaidi permanently. Stoke prepared to pay between £3m and £4m. Rodgers will take that.

From Diego Costa to Jake Livermore in the space of a week.
Depressing season is a coming.

Depends. If Rodgers' intention is to replace Lucas, not by a dedicated DM but by a more all-round MF who can do his bit defensively with others (Hendo, Allen) also chipping in a bit more, Milner would be excellent IMO. He's also very versatile and Rodgers has defo said he's looking for that.

Milner for me would be a very good squad player but nothing better than what we have right now.

Except that he can effectively play 7 of the 11 positions on the pitch. Not CF or CB or goalie. And, he would give 110% every time regardless of where he played.

He would best the option off the bench for almost all of those positions and a trustworthy starter whenever needed. The perfect 12th man.

This may not interest him, but I also think we could get him 20+ starts next year because of his flexibility.

He wants to start, so whilst he'll get more game time here, he'd hardly get as much as he wants. Spurs would be a perfect match for Milner.

He wants regular games in the centre of midfield if the press are to be believed.

He played 12 times for city last season, I'm not sure we can offer him many more starts than that in the centre of midfield alone.

He's versatile yes, and a great worker no doubt.

I think JJ also mentioned he can do a MF job, but i'd rather have more of a specialist player in that area, i.e kroos/martinez/barkley/ this type of player.

I think it also depends on how much money we are talking...City won't sell him to us for anything less than 16-17m and for me that just means we couldn't justify it.

Like I said, I like his mentality/work ethic/determination, but think he also does lack being VERY good at one thing. He's strong, a good crosser, not an amazing dribbler, doesn't have much power, has okay intelligence...

I'm probably the minority on here, but unless we're getting him for less than 10-12m its just really not worth it, as Brendan said we need better 1st team players.

Rodgers seems to have developed an English fetish. Hope it's not because he's enjoying all the praise he's getting for putting an "English heart" in the team this season.

Benitez tried to do something similar when we went for Keane and Barry

Lallana £20m
Rakitic/Kroos £25-30m
Milner/Kono (FSG policy) £10-15m
Richards/Serge Aurier £7-10m
Cole - FREE

I actually reckon Milner is a very intelligent player. I'd really like him to be honest. He'd definitely start 25-30 games for us and ideally 35 is the most anyone should play.
