[article=http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/Liverpool-looking-talented-Exeter-City-midfielder/story-21115173-detail/story.html?#Yv6PyZ7QiPzJbh0o.99]Premier League runners-up Liverpool have been linked with a move for Exeter City star Matt Grimes.

Highly-rated Grimes, 18, is reportedly a target for fellow top-flight outfit Sunderland and the Reds are the latest to show an interest in the talented midfielder.

Liverpool have a former Grecian in their ranks, with former City manager Alex Inglethorpe now coaching the Merseysiders’ Under-21 side.

The Bristol Post reported that Bristol City are looking for another midfielder after it was revealed Grimes was out of their reach.

It goes on to add that the Robins have been keeping tabs on the teenager for several months and director of football Keith Burt has travelled to St James’s Park on a number of occasions to watch him in action.

But the club have given up on the hunt after it was revealed he has attracted interest from Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Sunderland, and Championship side Norwich City.

It is believed that several clubs had scouts attend Exeter’s final game of the season away at Hartlepool in May, all with their eyes on Grimes.

City would be reluctant to sell the midfielder who won the player of the season award for 2013-14 but, with a number of clubs interested, they could be given an offer too good to turn down.[/article]

I haven't seen Grimes play but have heard lots of good things. I'm just excited that we finally seem to be looking in the lower leagues. It's a no-brainer; if this kid is any good we offer £200,000 with the usual sell-on clauses and then loan him out next season to a Championship club. Worst case scenario we lose a couple of hundred thousand, more than likely we'll at least get our money back and then there's always the chance he'll be the latest in the long line of LFC legends who we plucked from the lower leagues.

Milner is 'mediocre'. Fucking really?!

Hahaha. I wonder if some of you actually know anything about football.

Ok, I got a bit carried away. He's good, but what does he provide that Hendo doesn't?

For the wages and fee he would cost we could do better than arguably a back-up to him and Hendo. A midfield of both of them would be sore on the eyes and not consistent with our philosophy. Otherwise, maybe I am still suffering from the effects of our last foray into the Brit player transfer market (Adam/Carrol/Downing) and mistrustful of Milner.

Either way I think we can and must do better.

does that make him decent? the fact that we are putting him and downing in the same sentence says it all - overpriced and overpaid mediocrity.

Hang on...

Is Milner not just a harder working version of Downing? Hat's not saying much. For the money he would cost (fee/wages) we could probably do better.

You're the one who started putting them in the same sentence and now you're suggesting we all did it.
That's a useful trick I gotta pick up.

I wish I knew who any of these players were!
We've been linked with him earlier as well. He's going to be the starting RB for the Dutch at the World Cup, so I guess we will get to see him play. Van Gaal has dropped van der Wiel for him, so he certainly does have confidence in him.

I'm told by a Dutch friend that he's a very consistent, reliable full-back - in the mould of a Gary Neville.

he certainly does have confidence in him.

I don't think he has that much confidence in any of the Dutch defense but he does not have much choice.

He has changed from the traditional 4-3-3 to a 5-3-2 recently to compensate.

Perhaps - I had a look at the Dutch squad, and I couldn't recognise about half the names.

So how good is this Janmaat character?

[article=http://www.soccernews.com/liverpool-reignite-interest-giovinco/145988/?]Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport has learned that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco.

The highly rated footballer has just over a year left on his contract in Turin and seeing as how he is not currently in the first team plans of boss Antonio Conte, there is every chance the Italy international will be sold in the summer transfer window.

Tuttosport has suggested that Premier League giants Liverpool are ready to take advantage of the situation and lure Giovinco to Anfield.

It is believed the Reds are searching for attacking reinforcements and the 27-year-old is one of the first names on their radar.

Sebastian Giovinco has struggled for regular playing time since returning from Parma and he has started mere six Serie A fixtures this season.

As a result, he was not included in Cesare Prandelli’s provisional World Cup squad. The Azzurri are priced at 6/4 to win their opening game against England.[/article]
Wow, he's already 27. Always remember him being touted as a 'wonder kid'.

We've been linked with him before. Looks a lovely little player, but so did Aquilani before he arrived. Just saying.

There's no way back at Bayern Munich for Mario Mandzukic.
The Croatia striker was dropped by Bayern boss Pep Guardiola for the German Cup final as Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal circle.
BILD says Mandzukic's relationship with Guardiola is at a stage of almost disrepair after clashing in recent weeks.
The pair had a fiery argument after Real Madrid's victory in the Champions League and Mandzukic has since left Guardiola unimpressed with his attitude in training.
Meanwhile, Kicker says Mandzukic expressed his frustration to Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge before the last Bundesliga game against VfB Stuttgart and asked to be allowed to leave.
The striker has since cleared out his locker and said farewell to several Bayern employees as he prepares to quit the German giants this summer.

Konoplyanka's agent is saying that both LFC and Man United are interested in him, and that he would accept an offer from either.
