Transfer Rumours

If we end up spending anywhere near 20M on the LCB position this summer it's a pretty appalling admission of failure on the Sakho front.

We should also do disclaimer that "The thoughts and opinions of posters of 6CM has no bearing on the procedures and processes of Liverpool Football Club. Liverpool Football Club will purchase players and sell players to what sees as fit. With this in mind posters should not get overly worked up at posts by other 6cm members"

True, obviously with posters adhering to not flapping about every player we miss out on who goes elsewhere for £30m, nor accusations of the club being 'amateurs' because of such scenarios, nor pointing at other sides like Arsenal as examples of greatness.

Can someone explain what is wrong on the Sakho front? genuinely interested.

With all our defenders (apart from maybe Flanno, he should get a bit of a pass anyway because hes young and inexperienced unlike the others) i can remember many mistakes, even Skrtel who had a great season, with Sakho its hard to pin the blame on him individually for goals conceded, there wasn't any (was there?) goals where you wondered what the fuck he was doing and had your head in your hands at him.

I know its not all down to individual mistakes but i struggle to see what he does thats so unconvincing and why some fans opinions of him are low, he can struggle a bit when pressed and harried, no more so than many other player really, he can be rash and dive in now and then, not really anything major to worry about as that can be sorted out.

He looks to have all the attributes you want in a CB, strong, quick, good in the air etc... what about his reading of the game? can't say its noticable that hes poor or great in that respect, yet, has he even played 20 games yet?

Its strange why the defensive record with him there isn't good though im not convinced at all its his fault, we were making the same mistakes last season without him here.

I'm not saying there is. There are concerns and I don't think his rashness should be dismissed as teething problems. We've needed a dominant, composed leader at the back. As it is, we've got three centre backs who are roughly the same level, without an obvious cohesive partnership between them. That's as much an issue of the other two (three including Toure), as it is a worry about our £18m man. The fact still remains though, we lack the player who will glue things together, instead of us being a group of quiet, effective individuals, who just aren't that great a unit.

Skrtel must stay. Remember the entire season lads. He was great.

I can we the dodgy Fleet Street headlines when Lovren has some boirds over to his LoveDen

Not necessarily. Before the 2013 summer transfer window it looked like we needed to replace all 4 CBs: Skrtel (out of favor), Agger (who was at that time still in Rodgers' favor, but many of us could see he was on a downward slope), Carra (retiring) and Coates (out of favor). Now with the resurgent Skrtel and Sakho coming in we have two long-term pieces of the defensive puzzle – the problem is, they are not compatible with each other. Each one of the them needs a more cerebral, calm partner alongside them – be it someone like Lovren (who I like) or my personal #1 preference, Vertonghen. Once we have this missing piece (and the good thing about Lovren, he is equally comfortable at RCB and LCB, so he could partner either one of Skrtel or Sakho), we will have a rebuilt CB line with enough quality and depth.

Then Rodgers will just need to make a decision whether to bring Ilori to the team now (in which case Toure will leave) or give him one more season on loan.

Another thought on Sakho: I think we will not see the best of him as long as he is partnered with Skrtel. Martin is at his best when he is allowed to push high up, fight for every high ball and bully strikers with his physicality. Sakho is dying to do the same – but if Skrtel is doing it, Sakho is forced to stay behind and try to anticipate the direction of the attack and find the best position. That's not his strength. If you see Sakho paired up with someone like Lovren or Vertonghen next season, you will see a truly dominant CB – someone who can throw himself into physical battles with confidence, knowing that he is covered by a keen and attentive partner.

Lovren playing as a right footed LCB just highlights his versatility. He's equally good at RCB and it has nothing to do with Sakho but more with replacing Agger if anything.
Dont think we'll be anywhere near this transfer for 20 mill

Liverpool will look to sign up impressive La Liga star this summer

There has been some reports which have claimed Liverpool could look to sign Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis, according to the SportsDirectNews website.

The Reds are in the market for new signings at left-back this summer, that position being a major problem this season.

And the Irish boss reportedly eyes a specialist to come in in that position.

The likes of Alberto Moreno of Sevilla, Luke Shaw of Southampton and Real Madrid’s Marcelo have also been mentioned as possible targets, but Luis’ fine form for Atletico may now have made him Liverpool’s top target.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly plotting a raid on former club Swansea City to sign £20m-rated Wilfried Bony this summer.
Since joining the South Wales side last year from Vitesse Arnhem, the Ivory Coast international has justified his club-record £12m fee, finishing the season as their top scorer.
According to The People Rodgers is keen to add Bony to his already prolific strike force of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge as they contemplate a return to the Champions League next season.
It is thought that Bony is keen to play in Europe's premier club competition and Liverpool believe that their return to the tournament may give them the edge over transfer rivals Everton and Arsenal.

Like hell are we gonna spunk £20m on Bony.

We should look to Ben Arfa and Remy for a couple of decent squad options.

Liverpool target admits he wants summer move to Premier Legaue

Liverpool are on red alert after Marseille star Andre Ayew admitted he’s on the lookout for a summer move.

The Ghana international, who has a year remaining on his current deal, has previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and could be set for a move to Anfield.

The Reds are looking to improve their squad this summer and with wingers on their shopping list, could see Ayew as a decent bargain.

As quoted on the Daily Express website, he said: “It’s a league every player dreams about.

“The English league is the one most followed in Ghana. It’s true that I have a real preference for England.

“I like a bit of everything; the atmosphere, the game, the fans. There is a lot of intensity. It is a beautiful championship.”

[article=http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/inter-milan-chief-confirms-tom-ince-approach-9390716.html]Inter Milan technical director Piero Ausilio has confirmed the club are in for Tom Ince.

The Blackpool winger, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Crystal Palace, is weighing up his options with his current contract set to expire.

Ince scored once in eight appearances during a disappointing stint at Selhurst Park, but Palace are still keen to land the 22 year-old on a permanent basis.

Ausilio understands Inter’s approach is among ‘several’ the player is mulling over, but wants to bring the England u21 international to the club his father, Paul Ince, joined 19 years ago.

"It's definitely not a done deal for Tom Ince," he told a press conference on Saturday.

"He's a young player with an expiring contract. Him coming to Inter is an intriguing possibility because his dad played here, but nothing's been agreed yet. We're waiting for him to give us an answer."[/article]

I used to get hyped up every summer. But the last few summer transfers have been so uninspiring that I'm not expecting anyone great. So yeah I cant be arsed and just waiting for the world cup.

To a point.

I think the fact that we're being linked to so many players just makes you disregard the whole thing because you're just waiting to see who emerge as actual targets.
