Transfer Rumours

Liverpool have got the green light to sign Ezequiel Lavezzi after he turned down a new contract at Paris Saint Germain - and was told to leave. Lavezzi has struggled to cement a regular slot in the PSG team since his arrival from Napoli, but amid growing speculation over his future, the French giants offered him a new contract this week.

But Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio says that Lavezzi's agent Alejandro Mazzoni turned it down during a meeting in Paris and now an angry PSG are ready to offload him, with Liverpool in pole position.

The Reds have already made a £17.9million offer for the player and now look set to conclude a deal with PSG keen for him to go. Juventus and Inter Milan have also been linked with Lavezzi but it's claimed that both clubs only want a loan deal, while PSG want a permanent cash offer, like Liverpool are proposing.

Would he chip in a few goals?

Di Marzio - Sampdoria president Ferrero and sporting director Osti are working on a swap deal involving defender Coates & goalkeeper Romero.

It's above average? Play who season he'll score 10 goals? Hardly prolific, although he's great in the box they say.

The Mail also reports that Liverpool are preparing to offer Raheem Sterling a bumper new contract with Real Madrid thought to be keeping close tabs on the youngster. The deal is likely to represent a hefty increase on his current £30,000 a week.

We should definitely be in there if the Athleti rumours are true. Now's the time than any to make a serious bid for Reus.

They're not true. I'll be veeeery surprised if they are.

Sport says we have made a formal offer for Alex Song and that it can be accepted today.
Replacing Lucas with him would be very good..

Song in and Lucas out would be a fantastic trade. Still need that striker/forward though.

I can't really justify it, but I'd like us to sign Lavezzi. I just have a feeling his pacey directness would suit us. He'll probably not be any more prolific for us than he has been in his career, but you never know.*

*You probably do know.

I agree with this. People who know more than me rate this guy quite highly. I'd prefer him to Cavani, really.

It would, and probably not all that unrealistic given Luis Enrique is going to play Mascherano in midfield this season - it will probably be Mascher and Busquets for the pivot/DM, which leaves Song out of tune with the manager's thinking.

Reus (& Khedira & Cavani) are linked to Arsenal today ...

Something tells me Reus will leave Germany - to keep him away from Bayern ...

Song in and Lucas out I'll be very pleased with.
If Song is our new striker that we need then that's not so good.

Liverpool are confident of finally signing Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony with a new bid set to be lodged in the coming days. The Reds have already seen a £12.5million offer rejected by the Swans, but Brendan Rodgers is not giving up and is planning a new move.

According to the Daily Express, a new bid of about £16million is set to be lodged and Rodgers believes it will be enough to sign the Ivory Coast international.
Bony is said to be keen on moving to Anfield. The 25-year-old scored 17 goals in 34 games last season and has also been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.
