Swansea manager Garry Monk has insisted that star striker Wilfried Bony will not be sold for an 'astronomical fee'.
The Ivorian striker has attracted interest from both Liverpool and Tottenham this summer, with both club's keen on bolstering their attacking options.
Liverpool had been set to sign Loic Remy from QPR, but have since abandoned the £8.5million deal for the France international.

Monk is adamant that he wants Bony to stay, and insists that they are not prepared to sanction a deal at the end of a drawn-out pursuit.
“At the moment nobody has come in for Wilf and he is our player. But it can’t drag on for the whole summer," Monk told the South Wales Evening Post.
“We don’t want one of those scenarios where it’s going on right up until the last day.
“It has to be made loud and clear what is happening at some point – but at the end of the day he is not for sale unless someone comes in with an astronomical offer, which is the same with every club around the world," he added.
“Unless anyone wants to pay an astronomical fee, he will be going nowhere.”
Spurs have already completed business with Swansea this summer; signing Ben Davies and Michel Vorm while Gylfi Sigurdsson moved in the opposite direction, and Monk concedes it's only natural for club's to be interested in their players.
“There will be interest in a number of our players – that’s the way it is – but at the end of the day, Wilf is a Swansea City player,” he continued.
“Everything that has been said about him this summer has been said in the papers. We are not a paper company, so we’ll just deal with the reality.

"Wilf?"

El Mecurcio: Arturo Vidal has a verbal agreement to leave Juventus for Manchester United

I'd take that with a large pinch of salt we seem to be linked with just about everyone these days

I do think he would be a great signing for us but think a midfield of Herrera, Mata and Vidal might be a bit too weak defensively. Maybe it will work with 3 CBs but not sure.

Think Strootman would be perfect for us at the moment.

Liverpool are looking to put the Loic Remy medical behind them and instead make a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Ezequiel Lavezzi, Metro reports. The club decided to not continue negotiations as they try to lure the Argentine star from PSG for a cut-price deal.

The Ligue-1 club are said to be needing to offload a few players in order to balance their books in accordance with the Financial Fair Play sanctioned upon them as well as free up funds for a potential Angel Di Maria bid.

They could offer him up for only £18million, despite the fact that Laurent Blanc signed him only two years ago from Napoli for £24million. Brendan Rodgers still has funds available from the huge sale of Luis Suarez and sees the 29-year-old as the perfect candidate to keep them battling for the title. Lavezzi made 32 appearances for the French club the previous season, scoring nine goals and was part of the Argentina squad that lost to Germany in the World Cup finals.

Yawn.

Liverpool have ruled out making a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku or Swansea's Wilfried Bony after missing out on Loic Remy.
It was suggested they would turn to Lukaku or Bony as Reds boss Brendan Rodgers looks for another striker.
Lukaku is available for transfer with Everton leading the race for his signature after Toffees boss Roberto Martinez was caught on camera saying he was confident of doing a deal.
However Liverpool will not be rivalling them for his signature, nor will they be making a move for Bony, who bagged 25 goals for the Swans last season.
Instead they are planning another raid on Southampton following the captures of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana, and will attempt to lure Jay Rodriquez away from St Mary's.

The advisor of Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri has said all talks with other clubs are "on ice" as they discuss the player's future with Bayern Munich.
Shaqiri, 22, moved to Bayern in 2012, but has played just 43 games, including 17 Bundesliga matches last season, for the club since that switch from Basel. Out of contract in a year, the attacking midfielder has been linked with a transfer with Liverpool and Juventus.

However, the player's advisor and brother, Erdin, told Sport Bild Plus that Bayern would get the first opportunity to dictate where the promising youngster's future lies even if he left the door open to a departure. "There are currently no talks with other clubs. Our main partner in talks is Bayern Munich, and we have put talks with other clubs on ice. "It has been made clear to us that Xherdan has a good standing among the Bayern bosses. However, it remains to be seen how the talks go with Bayern, and whether an optimal solution can be found."

I feel that we are missing a hamann/alonso type player. A person who knows how to slow the game down when necessary when under pressure, or just kill it dead to interrupt the other teams flow. Gerrard for all his talent doesn't know how to do that.

Everton : 24 million fee close to being agreed for Lukaku, Atsu on loan and an announcement at 16.00 unrelated to those 2 signings

Two words.

Lucas
Eerrrrmmmm he's good and slowing down play by giving away stupid fouls outside our box. He's definitely not that hamann/alonso player I was talking about. Lucas will be spending most of this season on the bench next to allen.
