Transfer Rumours

Schneiderlin has put in a written transfer request. Be nice if for once the club told the player to get fucked and told them they're going nowhere even if they go on strike.

Apparently we're going for:

Shaqiri
Bony - plus a loan the other way, we won't go beyond our valuation which is significantly lower than Swansea's
Rodriguez - thought to be a "last resort" option to make up the numbers (not a good state of affairs), probably if Bony falls though.

and we're still on the lookout for a fullback, though Rodgers has been impressed with Robinson's attitude and also Enrique's return to fitness. Moreno is still the number one target but we've all but given up hope on that one, Bertrand is still feasible, unfortunately.

Bony? Argh!

I just don't get it for the prices bandied round.

I really hope so. Energy, stamina, technically superb, excellent passer and crosser, versatile (anywhere across the front) and helps out defensively, and he can score a few too. Seems like a Rodgers' signing.

Last resort?
All the money in the world and our two targets are 164 and 238 miles away from the front door of Anfield.
Thats as deep as the rabbit hole goes is it?

We will sign Remy from Newcastle, Bony from Swansea or as a last resort Rodrigues from all the way down in Southampton.

Penny ante bullshit.

Yep, it's not good enough. I like Bony but we haven't signed a match winner to replace Suarez yet. Fingers crossed it happens soon but I don't think we'll be signing a top tier talent this window.

Why would that be nice?

Because no-one is bigger than the club. Players screw clubs over these days by acting the cunt, look at yaya 'they didn't buy me a birthday cake(veyron), I want out' and Lovren 'oooo my head is in liverpool'. Would be nice for a change for a club to stand it's ground, tell the player that they have a contract, they want/need them, and they need to honour it. It's like getting married, some tart down the pub flashes a bit of tit-so you're off.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it. Fuck signing Rogriguez anyway. He's injured and would be way overpriced. Bony is overpriced too. I would've liked Remy as a squad option, but would like a top tier signing too. We really need to push the boat out to sign a top attacking talent to at least come a small part of the way towards replacing Suarez. It's a real shame we couldn't land Sanchez.

Yeah Sanchez was our dream signing. He was one who was available but unfortunately didn't fancy the move to us. I honestly can't think of many realistic top tier targets.

The apparent lack of interest in Rojo is puzzling. Not just by us, but other clubs as well, judging by the lack of persistent links. Only Southampton seems to be linked a bit more frequently of late.

He's not acting the cunt though.

If we can't get the likes of Cavani, Reus and Benzema, then in the next tier of established goalscorers, the only ones from Europe I can think of as suiting us are these:

Bony
Aubameyang
Firmino
Lacazette
Yarmolenko
Balotelli

There are of course a bunch of younger very talented strikers around - the likes of Icardi, Rodrigo, Insigne, Ocampos, Correa, Zivkovic etc. They're all at the same level at Origi though - just made their breakthrough into the first team, and a few years away from their full potential.

It's not a great situation to be in; so we need to be very smart about it.

My best case scenario would be to try and get one of the few I've listed above, and supplement that with a top of the drawer, on-the-cusp-of-world-class young AM (even though we're sort of loaded in that position) - to me this should be either Isco or Shaqiri. Basically someone whose potential is even more than Coutinho's, and productivity is better than Lallana's.

Aubameyang and Isco would be my choices. I think that's about the best job of replacing Suarez we can do in this window.

In a year's time, the transfer market will throw up more options if required; though I am reasonably confident that if we follow this plan, in a year's time, we'd have at least 2 attacking players at a near world class level.

Isco is great. I can't see us going for him though given that we've signed Lallana. I really hope he doesn't end up at City or in the Prem at all.

And I'm sure I read somewhere he's only going for around €10m ?

I mentioned in another thread that I'd love Aubameyang, seems to have a lot to his game. If we could get Shaqiri too I'd be jissing all over the place.

Yes, Reus is a pipe dream. I'd rather try and pry Aubameyang from Dortmund.

I'd like to think most African players think of the EPL as their mecca, so if we offered about 20 million for Aubameyang, there might be a chance that the player agitates for a move to us.

Agree with dmishra about getting one forward and one attacking mid as replacements for Suarez. My picks are Son Heung-Min and Shaqiri. I think Son has a bit more to his overall game than Aubameyang.
