Transfer Rumours

Would be really surprised to see Can playing LB. Seemed like he played there out of necessity for Leverkusen, but we have two better options in Flanagan/Enrique already.

I can see him playing alongside Hendo to start the season, unless we bring somebody else in.

He seems more of a box to box player, so I don't think we should be deploying him as the anchor. Allen might be better sorted for that role. Remains to be seen though.

I posted his stats at LB here sometime ago, they are very good - he is a very useful back-up. If he has the discipline (and again he has previously played at DM) then I'm happy to see him understudy SG in preference to Lucas who brings very little in an attacking sense and can really slow the game down.

Just a very good all rounder it seems.

It's good to see our squad have some real athletes these days. That was an element that was sorely missing a few seasons back.

From Saturday's Echo : apologies if all this has been posted before. Really really hope these Shaqiri rumours are real and we can get it done.

Liverpool have been handed a deadline by Juventus if they are to move for Arturo Vidal, according to reports in Italy. The Old Lady have told prospective suitors they will only entertain offers up until August 2.

The Reds are the favourites to sign Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri after finally lodging a bid, reports Swiss newspaper Blick .
Brendan Rodgers and Co. are apparently heading the queue despite a long line of suitors and they suggest the Reds have offered £14.2million for the 22-year old which is believed to be close to the Bundesliga champions' valuation. Both Juventus and Roma are also keen but the lure of the Premier League could prove decisive.

Finally, Oussama Assaidi's move to Stoke is in the balance, say the Express. A fee of £4.5million rising to £7m has been agreed but personal terms are proving difficult. The Moroccan spent the season on loan at the Britannia last term and was thought to be keen on a permanent switch, but the 25-year-old's wage demands are apparently proving a stumbling block. The Potters are keen to do a deal ASAP and if an agreement isn't struck soon are prepared to look elsewhere.

I sincerely hope this IS made up. He's a decent enough player but I don't think he's even at our current level, let alone where we want to get to.

I can't see how that is even realistically possible seeing as how we need another striker NOW, and rodriguez isn't due back to even train until around November.

Is he referring to a striker or a LB or both ? Doesn't sound good either way (unless this is a bluff).

Rodgers insists he is ready to wait until the January transfer window to sign a striker.

"There are certain different areas where I want to bring in players, but they have to be the right type," Rodgers said. "There is money to spend, no question, but I won't spend it for the sake of it. It has to be the right type. "If that means I have to wait until January then that's what I will do. "If the right ones become available we would like to do something because I still have a lot to do on that front - but if they're not available, I will wait."

He wants to sign two full backs and a forward. I think this is sending a message to clubs that we aren't prepared to spend more than we believe a player is worth, and aren't desperate to fill positions (ref: Moreno).

Why the hate Leo? Really don't get it.
The only reason he's here checking us out is because we are actually good for the first time in about 5 years.
It also brings diversity to the thread. And he's a respectful poster.
People who curse at him are being bigger twats than he is for supporting United.
Nothing against him but I just don't give a flying fuck who they are selling.
This thread is hard enough to trawl through without reading about Scum rumours.

Hahahahha. I was waiting that.

Same.

Funny thing is that he did actually look a class defender when he first turned up, then he went to shit.

I hope there isn't any truth to it, this summer has been a bit of a head scratcher as it is without this one.

Only an 'astronomical fee' will land Liverpool and Tottenham target Wilfried Bony, says Swansea boss

Striking Fee: Bony will only be sold for an 'astronomical offer' says Monk

Swansea manager Garry Monk has insisted that star striker Wilfried Bony will not be sold for an 'astronomical fee'.
The Ivorian striker has attracted interest from both Liverpool and Tottenham this summer, with both club's keen on bolstering their attacking options.
Liverpool had been set to sign Loic Remy from QPR, but have since abandoned the £8.5million deal for the France international.

Monk is adamant that he wants Bony to stay, and insists that they are not prepared to sanction a deal at the end of a drawn-out pursuit.
“At the moment nobody has come in for Wilf and he is our player. But it can’t drag on for the whole summer," Monk told the South Wales Evening Post.
“We don’t want one of those scenarios where it’s going on right up until the last day.
“It has to be made loud and clear what is happening at some point – but at the end of the day he is not for sale unless someone comes in with an astronomical offer, which is the same with every club around the world," he added.
“Unless anyone wants to pay an astronomical fee, he will be going nowhere.”
Spurs have already completed business with Swansea this summer; signing Ben Davies and Michel Vorm while Gylfi Sigurdsson moved in the opposite direction, and Monk concedes it's only natural for club's to be interested in their players.
“There will be interest in a number of our players – that’s the way it is – but at the end of the day, Wilf is a Swansea City player,” he continued.
“Everything that has been said about him this summer has been said in the papers. We are not a paper company, so we’ll just deal with the reality.
