Yeah there is no point keeping him.
He will cost us 5m just to be sat on the bench.
Take a fee for him if we can or Sep 1 release him.

This napoli loan shite is why I hate to see players over 27 go on loan. The other club just watch the contract run down & hold every fucking card.

Calum Chambers: Arsenal set to sign Southampton defender

Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Southampton defender Calum Chambers for a fee of about £16m.
The England Under-19 international underwent a medical on Friday.
Chambers, 19, has made 25 senior appearances for the Saints and Arsenal see him as an option at right-back, centre-back or in a more advanced role.
Arsenal have also enquired about Saints midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, 24, who played for France at the World Cup.

Chambers would become Arsenal's third summer signing following the arrivals of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez and Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy.
He would be the latest player to leave St Mary's this summer following the departures of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana to Liverpool and Luke Shaw to Manchester United.
Defender Dejan Lovren is also set to undergo a medical with Liverpool after the clubs reached agreement on a £20m move.
And Tottenham have made an enquiry for Saints striker Jay Rodriguez.
Any confirmed Chambers deal is likely to see right-back Carl Jenkinson, 22, leave Arsenal on loan to gain regular first-team football.

They are getting plundered but are well compensated for it.

Pretty sure Chambers will turn out to be a good investment for Arsenal, wouldn't have minded him here really but we can't keep buying their players.

Almost a £100m before any potential Jay Rodriguez or Morgan Schneiderlin deals. A lot of money but they now have to replace 6-7 first team players, they'll probably spend £40-50m doing that. I'd hate to be a Southampton fan, they must be gutted.

@cloggypop - how did Feyenoord play under Koeman? I vaguely recall that he wasn't liked in Valencia, with his team labeled boring I think. His record seems spotty at best outside of the Netherlands, but the Southampton fans seem to come across as being pleased to have landed him and I get the impression that they expect his team to play attractive football.

Yay, Arsenal news!

I was surprised when reading that, that they have only signed Sanchez plus a right back from the Geordies. I thought they'd bought a few top £30m+ European talents, they way the usual suspects have been pouring adoration over their Summer spending again, based on every major link that gets printed. While we actually buy a few players and get called amateurs, or whatever.

They were decent enough to watch. Finished last season with 3 at the back so a bit more defensive than normal and came second to Ajax. They were skint when he took over though. They had nearly gone bust a couple of seasons before and were still selling their best players every year and replacing them with free signings or bringing the youth through. It will be interesting to see if the Southampton board expect the same from him or if they will give him all the cash.

Manchester United and Liverpool have been handed a deadline by Juventus if they are to move for Arturo Vidal.
According to reports in Italy, the Old Lady have told prospective suitors they will only entertain offers up until August 2 - the day before the players depart for their pre-season tour of Asia.
Vidal has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer, with Liverpool also reportedly showing interest. But despite the Chilean international repeatedly stating he is unsure where his future lies, no official offer has yet been made. And now Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims Juve have told United and co. next Saturday is the cut-off date for a deal to go through.
Louis van Gaal is said to be ready to offer £39m for the midfielder, but reports suggest Liverpool are willing to hijack United's move with a £42.5m bid.

Real Madrid have so far sold approximately £20million worth of 'James' replica shirts since the Colombian forward was unveiled at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid are well on their way to recouping the reported £71million paid to Monaco for the signature of Colombia phenomenon James Rodriguez.

Spanish paper Sport have reported that, according to the company Euromericas Sport Marketing, Real Madrid have so far sold approximately 345,000 'James' replica shirts in the 48 hours since the forward was unveiled at the Bernebeu in front of 44,000 fans.

That’s roughly 7,188 shirts sold per hour worldwide and at £60 each equates to about £20.7 million in sales.

I tend to ignore the majority of things the Spanish press print, it's the journalistic equivalent of twitter.

Not sure about those numbers but it probably helps that this is now available for the shirts

Do Adidas not get a cut from the shirt sales?
