Transfer Rumours

Loads of trustworthy people saying we're now focused on Bertrand for LB.

FUCK OFF. Worst signing since Carroll if this happens. Fuck. Rodgers is a fucking disaster area when it comes to transfers.

He would cost less than £7m so cant get too worked up about.

Really cannot see the need for him. We have Enrique, Johnson and Flanno can go over there, Agger can play there. If we but a LB surely we need to buy one better than anything we have already. Baffling.

Exactly. If he comes he'll end up as cover for Enrique, something Flanagan can do easily (and Robinson can improve into).

We should be targeting a top quality left-back to make the position his own over the next 5 years. Not Ryan fucking Bertrand.

Looks ok in that first vid but shite in the second
Agreed. But, the League Cup game was probably his first game in a long while. Defensively he looked good in both, but his distribution was poor in the second.

I am less worried after seeing that Villa video. Handled Sterling well.

Agger cannot play there. It never works out. And, Enrique looked poor last night. Hopefully, he will improve once he has a few games behind him. I would like a top quality left back, but defensively this looks ok to me. And, that is our primary need.

Ok isn't good enough though FreshRed for a team building upon a 2nd place finish and in the Champions league next season. We have a decent budget to spend so lets get 1st team players in important positions, the best possible out there.

He can also play a more defensive style of LM (he did it when they won the CL Final) and versatility of that kind is a big plus point in Brendan's book.

I dont want him at all. Which will result in us signing him.
We got the money and should target someone who will improve our first team.

We've got Flanagan, Enrique as our steady-eddie options / back ups. There's no point in bringing in players who are not going to improve on them two.

I think Flanno may be moving more to RB, his natural position, so GJ can take his rightful place on the bench. Or in the stands. Or at West Ham/QPR/Villa *delete where appropriate

You heard any rumors lately that are interesting and worth sharing? Or is everything pretty hush hush?

If Magic stays, I'd like to see the two of them swap wings. When Magic's played over on the left he's looked more defensively solid and has still got forward well. His attacking has been less spectacular than over on the right, but arguably the total package he offers has been worth more to us.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to push ahead with moves for Marco Reus and Dejan Lovren while also rekindling his long-term interest in Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand.

Rodgers' side finished as runners-up in the Premier League and, according to the Daily Mirror, the former Reading and Swansea City head-coach has isolated Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus as the ideal choice to compliment a strike force which hit the back of the net on 101 occasions last term. Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga champions, are also keen on Reus and are confident on securing his services but Liverpool's reemergence as a force in European football makes them an attractive option also.

The move for Lovren, on the other hand, should be a decidedly less complex affair once a fee is agreed with Southampton. Ronald Koeman, the Saints manager, is holding out for over £20m after already losing Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana to Mersyside.

Rodgers has been an admirer of Bertrand, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, since their time together in the Chelsea academy.
The Kop squad is currently in Boston, where Loic Remy is also set to complete a medical later this week.

Southwark-born Bertrand joined Gillingham at the age of nine. He was snapped up by Chelsea just a few days before his 16th birthday in 2005.

It would be another six years before Bertrand made his full Chelsea debut, in a match against Birmingham in 2011.

With the defender’s progress blocked by the form of Ashley Cole, his early years at Stamford Bridge were spent on loan. He had temporary spells with Oldham, Norwich, Reading and Nottingham Forest before getting a taste of first-team action. He spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 16 Premier League apprearances.

Just over a year after making his Chelsea debut, he became the first ever player to make his first Champions League appearance in the final itself. Bertrand was deployed in a left-wing role ahead of Cole as Chelsea beat Bayern Munich on penalties.

Bertrand has played for England at every level from under 17s to the seniors. He won the first of his two senior caps on August 15, 2012 in a 2-1 win over Italy, making a crucial goal-line clearance before Jermain Defoe struck a late winner.

His second cap was in a World Cup qualifier against Ukraine, a 1-1 draw which saw the Chelsea man earn praise from boss Roy Hogdson.

Bertrand also saw international action as a member of Great Britain’s football squad at the 2012 Olympic Games. He played four times for Stuart Pearce’s men, reaching the quarter-finals.

MrBoywunder ‏@MrBoywunder 7m Bascombe - Reina has a exit clause of €5m (£3.95m), but Napoli want him even cheaper.

Cheapskates.

You cannot be Se-Reus about this independent article.

This would help the Suarez replacement problem (never seen him play, but following the mob on this one)

Mangala and Kompany at the back. If Kompany stays fit, I can't see many getting round them two. Only bonus is that joe hart is a sack of shit if anyone does get in behind.
