We guaranteed need a new midfielder, and competition/replacement for bobby.

Anything less is standard FSG behaviour

They may view Jones as the replacement really for Gini.

I do think we need another midfielder if we are trimming the fringe players down.

I think we need another mid. Wijnaldum was a major asset in that he was always available and put in a huge shift.

Of our present mids, Fabinho, Milner and Jones are the only ones who don't have an injury history.

Thiago, Henderson, Keita and Ox all have had a very injury prone career, and we should plan accordingly. The last thing we need is a fresh injury crisis, this time in midfield.
As I said I'd like to see us get Bissouma in but Klopp (via Pearce & Gorst etc.) has made statements to the contrary. No Bissouma and likely no replacements for Gini. I'm assuming this means that Keita and Ox are staying and that LFC don't believe we'll see an injury crisis similar to last season's.

That means we'll have 7 senior midfielders for 3 spots, could we see Bobby dropping back, or TAA moving into midfield too? Klopp could add in the likes of Cain or Clarkson, maybe even Musialowski, Jaide Gordon or Frauendorf for cup games, emergencies or from the bench in some games.

Still, I agree, it looks one senior player light.

Sell Shaq, Wilson, Origi, Ayonyi, Minamino, Kieta & Gruijic.

Sign Camavinga, Patson Daka and Bissouma.

Job done.
This season we will have more sellers than buyers am not sure how many we can sell without giving them away.
Camavinga price tag is £86m... No thanks
Daka £17m is the release clause
Bissouma is said to be available at £40m
Daichi Kamada and Michael Olise. Daichi Kamadas advantage over other Japanese players is that he is over 6ft tall whilst being very technically gifted. He has 15 assists to his name in the bunderliga

I like the Daka link.

He's a relentess worker, has very good vision/link up and is a very good finisher off both feet.

He can probably also play on the right and left; he certainly drifts there in games and looks comfortable.

At a 17m release clause, it feels like an absolute no brainer.

As for the Gini replacement, Camavinga would be the perfect replacement/upgrade. At 18, he's already top, top, class.

He's 1.85m.

Bobby is 1.81m.

He's more in the Aubameyamg mould. Can play wide, but also pretty clinical as a CF.

I was thinking in terms of playing style and role, but it depends if we want to get a more like for like competitor for Firmino.

Well my point was also that he was a bit like Auba too in terms of playing role and flexibility.

In terms of style, I think he looks a better a link-up player than Auba, which is important in our set up of other goalscorers (Mane/Salah).

That's actually what made/makes Cavani special, in that he managed to score an absurd amount of goals, even when Mbappe/Neymar came and he had to give up penalties and adjust his game.

I kind of see that similar quality in Daka, in that he's managed to get a lot of goals of RBS but also a lot of assists too.

Is Daka's link up play good? Can't make out much from his clips other than he's pacy and knows how to finish.

I have to say I really like the look of Dusan Vlahovic. Very good chance that he's the next Kane or Lewandowski. Not just a proper no. 9, but also very mobile and good at link-up play.

We simply have to buy someone this summer and ship Origi our. Criminal if we don’t.

If Daka is available for 18m I’d sign him even if it’s just to sit on the bench / loan him out.

I don't think it's just about link up play though; that can be worked on as Klopp did with Lewa. It's also about vision and the right balance of selfishness and greed.

Not seen much of Dusan Vlahovic. I'll check him out!

Agreed.

If this season has shown anything, it's the amount PASSENGERS we have in the squad that aren't contributing anything and Jurgen Klopp doesn't/can't trust.

Origi will always be a cult hero substitute. But perhaps we wouldn't need his one-off games, late minute winners or sub appearances if Jurgen could actually rest the front 3 and play a CF when Firmino isn't on form, instead of flogging him when he's clearly knackered. Simply because he trust Origi from the start. That Burnley miss/poor performance was the start of our home downfall this season. Almost cost us the CL.

Well, from what Pearce & Co have been saying, an attacker is our top priority this window. So I suspect that will happen.

First Kabak, now Daka. What is with you and buying folks for 18m and loaning them out, 😉.

Daka looks great on youtube compilation. My concern with him is can he make the transition from the Austrian league to our squad immiediately. Everyone was excited about Minamino when he joined. It looks now that he cannot hack it here. We cannot afford (both from money as well as competing for top prizes perspective) to have another player come in and take 1 year to acclimatize. Any attacking player we bring in should have a Jota-level impact as in start putting pressure on the big three from day one.

A legit concern. But when you look at the two; the physical profiles of Daka Vs Minamimo, you kind of see why one would struggle more than another in the PL.

Agreed about Dusan Vlahovic. Looks a proper striker in the making. 6’3 but quite pacey and mobile.
Will cost a shitload.

I think we have to assume that with more than a full complement of CBs it is highly unlikely (even more unlikely than last season !) that he'll be needed in the back 4 and that with Hendo and Thiago we have enough cover for emergencies. For the record I'd like to see us sign Bissouma though.

Yeah but we can't guarantee Fab would stay fit for an entire season. We can't trust Keita or Ox anyway so I am not sure what's the point of keeping them. I will sell one of them and bring in someone like Bissouma or Ndidi.

Just look at how Kante dominated the midfield by himself in the CL finals. Without Fab we have nobody else to win the ball back.

As a back up to our front 3-4 we should be looking at Depay again. His style of play really suits us. 34 games, 20 goals and 14 assists this season in L1 and 42 goals/assists in total, I think that topped M'Bappe in L1?

On top of that he's a free agent again? Unless someone snapped him up and I missed it. The latest I read was : "Depay: Barca made their proposal, waiting for Memphis final answer." although he said they were not his only option and there were links to us.

There’ll be serious wages involved, but he’s certainly got the scope to cover right across the front three.
