Transfer Rumours 21/22

I’m keen to see how Elliott gets on. I’m quite worried he’s going to become one of those fabulously talented players without a natural position in our formation.

Mo and Sadio do a good job filling in at #9 but if we’re definitely keeping them both I think Jota covers both positions well and a replacement/backup to Bobby is more important than a Sancho type signing

From when have we in SCM started thinking about resale value and age of a palyer. Coutinho is a player who understands Klopp's system pretty well although it has evolved a lot over after he has left. Second point, he knows almost the whole current team, our team is filled with Brazillians, he has lived in Liverpool before so should be pretty easy to get adjusted to Souse life, he has few times terrorized opposition defences. The best possibility is to get him on loan but that wouldn't happen this time unless Barca are stupid. But I would not mind spending 40m on Coutinho if we are not spending on Mbappe or Haaland.

It's not about resale value. It's about getting a player with his best years ahead of him.

I loved Coutinho and was sorry to see him go but even I wouldn't want him back.

He's had a troubled few years and gambling 40M on a 29 year old rediscovering his best form (and for how long) doesn't make any kind of sense for a club such as ours.

We need the next Coutinho.

Lyon is in financial trouble. They had financial issues before the pandemic itself. They did not qualify for the CL this season and next season. They were planning to sell Aouar last summer but the CL semifinal run provided enough cash to avoid panic selling. They wanted 50-60 million euros last summer. This year, there are rumors that he is available for substantially less. He also apparently had a not-so-good year in terms of form. I haven't watched him play a lot other than the CL quarter-final against City last year. My guess is he would be cheaper than Coutinho both in transfer fees and wages.

@dmishra, I think first pointed him out on SCM. He might know more about him.
I think while he started out as a Coutinho style AM, he's transitioned into a more traditional deeper CM, Wijnaldum style. That would explain the lower scoring numbers. Again, I don't watch that much football anymore to be honest, but the stats here https://1xbet.whoscored.com/Players/322096/Show/Houssem-Aouar also indicate that he plays in a deeper CM role for the majority of the time.

Fernabache want Div out on loan. I say see if there is buyer for him. Knowing the Turkish club it will be a £1m fee is all they'll want to pay

Give him plus £5m to RB Salzburg in exchange for Patson Daka.

Reading about him online, I think there is an element of Torres at Atletico about him also. A talented youngster who has stayed one too many seasons in a setup that is not functioning that well.

The only way Coutinho comes back is on Gareth Bale style loan deal where Barca still pay some of his wages. I can't see any one putting up 40m for him especially at his age, and we would have to take in the issue of his delicate fragile back.

From article:

"Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (25) - Staying in England, but less expensive, Liverpool could look at Fulham's Anguissa. A rare consistent performer for Scott Parker's side, the Cameroon international (surprisingly) completed more dribbles than anyone in the Premier League in 2020/21 bar Adama Traore. Reports say he could be available for just £20m."

This is a great article actually a few players I've never heard about from UK and abroad.

Fulham's Anguissa a midfielder who completed more dribbles than Grealsih available for 20m, sign him up!

Ryan Gravenberch is a fan, apparently

Here is what I would like:

1) We need to get rid of Origi - as Klopp don't use him,
2) We need to get rid of one of Ox, and Keita (I have forgotten now why we signed Keita), I think Ox can give us a few games.
3) Need to decide what if anything we want to do with Shaq, - he seems to be at another level when playing for his national team, and we don't use him in the same capacity so I don't see the point of him either anymore.
3) That means with:
a) We need to sign two midfielders to compensate for Gini, Shaq, and Ox/Nabi going - I say we bring that kid Elliot into the team now to replace Shaq - who seems at best to be played when Salah not available for his RW position. Therefore two mids to replace Gini + replacement for Ox/Nabi.
b) So for Gini - we need someone versatile both defensive and attacking abilities, - is there a midfielder out there who can do that ? - plus ball recycling job.
c) Nabi/Xo - we need someone who can attack/dribble/create somewhat.
d) Another attacker up front - that can score goals is clever that we can rely on.
e) Lets also not forget we have Curtis Jones (whom I like to think of as the Lallana replacement).
4) Definitely keep Nat - he is fully blooded into the team now and has shown more than enough to even start games if need be.

Next season - I really want us to to be able to compete properly in all competitions, I think we have been very kind to Klopp by giving him all the excuses in the world to have early exits in the league/FA cups. Just for once lets try and compete on all fronts like all the other top teams try.

Now what's this bollox about FSG being broke ? 325M issue or something ? - honestly - CL footy again, we need to invest, this season with at least two quality midfielders and get rid of the players whom we hardly use even when they are fit and our main players only have one testicle to play with.

Pretty much agree with all of that Moron but would add that we have to give Klopp a squad he has faith in and will use.

Bringing in Jota & Thiago last year and Kounate now are good examples of players who can immediately challenge for a starting place without weakening the side.

Too many of our squad players do not fall into that category.

That should mean a big churn this window and the events of our disappointing season when the squad was so stretched should give the club the motivation to make changes.

Move out a significant number of the 1st team squad who barely contribute and replace them with fewer heads but with real quality who the manager will regularly use. Show some ambition and make a statement that last year was a blip and we are back on track for the major honours.

Signing Gravenberch would be fucking ace. Could prob get him for 25mil if we acted before the euros - classy player who can run the engine room and also score at important moments. A loose comparison is a cross between Gini and Gerrard from what I've seen

Interesting article but I'm surprised no mention of Aouar especially since he's so highly rated by many (and not just on SCM but all over Europe).

these days I'd be a little bit dubious buying from Ajax unless they are a 'long-term project', which isn't what we need. I'd like someone with a little more proven pedigree than the Dutch league that's ready to step into the 1st team immediately, or at the very least challenge for a starting place.

Haven't delved through this thread yet, but are we seeing any links to Origi? Surely he is a done deal as a transfer out. I wonder if we are hoping to use him as a make-weight in a deal for whoever we next bring in.

We value him at 20 million apparently. Given that he's barely played for a year, that seems very ambitious. Who do we think will be in for him? Somebody like Fenerbahce or a German or French club? Maybe a Sevilla or Villarreal or a mid-table Serie A club at best? None of them will be able to fork out 20 million. The best chance is someone like Wolves or Burnley get interested.

I wonder if 20 mill.is quite that ambitious though. He does have ability and his history of scoring vital big occasion goals for us will stick in some clubs' minds.

It was admittedly a while ago but I do remember hearing that Wolves might be interested. If he's a player Nuno likes, Nuno may want to fetch him in for his next gig.

Unfortunately I think we've waited a couple years too long to move on some of the undesirables and we're not going to get the fees we were hoping for. Hard to know to what extent it's been down to Klopp and his team in some cases (e.g. Origi) but it's time to cut these guys loose regardless.

If we were savvy about wanting a price for him we probably shouldn't have left him on the bench for so much of the season. Best case scenario I can see is getting about £10-£12m as part exchange. There shouldn't be a shortage of suitors, with a run of games and confidence he's a good striker, but just doesn't fit out system that well. He scored some important goals at the start of our PL winning season.

We're basing his value off Brewster's.

Brewster scored zero goals and had zero assists in 30 appearances last year. Origi will get you at least one more goal than that and will cost around the same.

Brewster was 20 when he was sold and was coming off a very successful loan spell where he had scored 11 goals in half a season. Young, English and full of potential. That always fetches a good price.

Origi is 26 and has barely played any football in a year. That's generally not the kind of player who has a host of suitors. If anything, that's the sort of player teams will be hoping to get for a bargain with the hope of resuscitating his career.

We got 23 million for Brewster because Sheffield United are idiots. I pity any fool who buys from Liverpool at our asking prices

We're not getting more than 10 mill + for Origi. Sadly, after missing the window of selling him after the CL final in 2019 our best chance now is probably a loan with an optional fee and a decent loan fee. Then hope he has a good loan spell by playing more regularly.
For some reason there seems to be some interest for him, so lets hope Edwards can make a decent deal.
I'd take 10 mill £ and run if it was offered for him.

Personally I'd have said so, but the problem is that he hasn't been getting selected and the management don't seem to think it's worth holding out for the difference.
