Transfer Rumours 21/22

yes we will be considering we let go of Taki, Divok, and Mane, and replaced with just Nunez. But if selling Bobby means getting a midfielder like the one that is being talked about (not the over-priced young lad from Klopp's old team), then I am all for it. I think Klopp can turn that new Carvalho kid into the next Bobby type role if he needs to. I am all for moving Bobby on. Served his purpose:

1) Was useless when we bought him.
2) Became key once he had fast runners on both sides of him in Salah, and Mane
3) Looks fucked now - and Serie A is about the right pace for him.
Bobby is in the last year of his contract, and he has been a great servant. Considering the restrictions the club places on Klopp, where net spend is about £20m-30m per season, I'd hate for Bobby to leave for free. So if Bobby doesn't resign I'd sell for £20m, and reinvest that in a CM as Thiago, Hendo, Naby and OX all have the propensity to be out of action for months due to injury.
My dream outcome would be Bobby signs a 2 year extension and we sell Naby and Ox in order to raise funds for a CM

You’re actually beyond obsessed with signing a new midfielder.

Given we look like dropping a load on Bellingham next summer - who do you propose we sign that’s realistic, available, would improve the squad, would accept being rotated and wouldn’t act like a diva or impact team harmony.

Considering in my scenario we are losing 2 MF to gain 1, and with Hendo and Thiago prone to injury and Milner hitting 37, I don't expect who ever we get to moan about game time, there will be plenty of game time.
As to next summer signings, well thats next summer, I want us to win the title this season and besides Jude isn't nailed onto sign for us. Nunes, Konrad Laimer, even Ward-Prowse though he is 28. If the budget extended to £60m, maybe Jacob Ramsey.

No idea who he is, but at £42m for a winger who has scored 0 goals and had 0 assists in the league despite playing 34 games at an average of 38 minutes per game is way over priced

LIVERPOOL PLANNING FUTURE MOVE FOR £42M ACE WHO SAYS ‘I’M LIKE MBAPPE’

Premier League giants Liverpool are tracking Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams but have no intention of triggering the forward’s £42 million release clause this summer, according to Spanish publication AS.
Goodbye Neco Williams, hello, erm, Nico Williams?

After selling the versatile full-back to Nottingham Forest in a £17 million deal, Liverpool have reportedly added the Welsh international’s near-namesake to their watch-list. But the similarities between the two Williams’ begin and end at their identical surnames.
It feels rather fitting, given he was born in the town of Pamplona, that Nico is at his most devastating when barging through defenders like the proverbial bull in a China shop. The 20-year-old possesses the same raw pace as his older brother Inaki, but with added finesse and guile.
“I think he is a player with great qualities,” former Athletic coach Marcelino Garcia Toral says of the Spain U21 international. “And then he is daring.”
LIVERPOOL LIKE ATHLETIC BILBAO STARLET NICO WILLIAMS

Daring indeed.
Nico loves nothing more than slamming his foot down onto the accelerator and cruising through the gears. End product is still required – he scored just three times in 39 games last season – but he possesses the raw minerals of a top-quality forward.
According to AS, a Liverpool side renowned for turning potential into greatness are keeping a close eye on Williams. Jurgen Klopp’s side will not be triggering the 50 million euro release clause in his contract this summer.
But Williams is exactly the sort of exciting, technically-gifted youngster that have become the backbone of Liverpool’s success during the Klopp era; A la Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz.
“My brother (Inaki) is more physical. He has a lot of pace. I’m a dribbler, like Neymar, (Ousmane Dembele) and Kylian Mbappe,” Nico told TV3 a couple of weeks ago before insisting that he is not thinking about life away from San Mames just yet.
“I love Athletic. I want to be there with my brother and all my teammates. It’s like a family for me. I want to stay in Bilbao.”

Whilst I agree with keeping Bobby for another season, or even a 2 year renewal on lower wages, whilst Carvalho & Elliott (and maybe Gordon, though in a different position of course) fully integrate themselves, I don't see the point in any reversion to an older system, we have to move forward.

I meant it as a plan B during games when plan A isnt working. Nil-Nil, 55 minutes, opposition defense holding well - we now have the option of bringing out Bobby and trying out the classics. We know have variety in our attack.

I’d imagine the key phrase here is we “have no intention of triggering the forward’s £42 million release clause”.

I’d imagine there are a hole host of players out there that we’re not going to sign.

I can think of at least one other player that goes “barging through defenders like the proverbial bull in a China shop”, yet doesn’t score or create assists very often that we won’t be signing either.

He’s also Spanish.

Henderson featured in 35 League games last season.

Nunes feels like agent or club talk rather than actual interest.

Ramsey would likely make the bench (at best) although could be a great option for next year.

No idea if Laimer is good enough, but Ward-Prowse definitely isn’t good enough to warrant signing for a top team - he’s a good mid-tier team player at best.

Keita, despite the likelihood of getting injured in a challenge with a blade of grass, is better than all of them.

Have to agree with the reasoning , but I would go further and say that none of our best midfielders are worthy of being trusted to stay fit. That's why we need someone of quality with a good availability record. To be honest I am not gonna pin my hopes on a youngster like Jude coming in next season. If they Juventus want Bobby then sell I say, and use the funds plus whatever to get a MF in, I think Carvalho can offer any missing creativity that we would miss if Bobby leaves. But we need a seasoned MF.

I was surprised as anyone, but you know what they say, "lightening never strikes the same place twice". So I am relatively sure he will miss games due to injury

Nunes feels like agent or club talk rather than actual interest.
Klopp went for that French kid, but the kid chose Real Madrid, so he is interested in a MF player. Klopp will not tell us his target, but if it is Nunes, I would be happy

Ramsey would likely make the bench (at best) although could be a great option for next year.
If he is a squad player this season thats fine, he is coming on when our main 3 need a break

No idea if Laimer is good enough, but Ward-Prowse definitely isn’t good enough to warrant signing for a top team - he’s a good mid-tier team player at best.
Ward-Prowse is a decent squad player, a level above CJ (who too is a squad player) but at 28 he is not the type of player the club goes for. Bayern want Laimer, and they usually don't go for dross

Keita, despite [bcolor=#ff0000]the likelihood of getting injured in a challenge with a blade of grass,[/bcolor] is better than all of them.
If he is injured constantly and needs a couple of games to get into the rhythm and then gets injured again, how do you then get value out of him?

In his 11 Seasons, Henderson has failed to play at least 40 games in a season, 3 times - so I don’t know what this lightening strikes twice nonsense is your talking about.

Last season was the mist games Henderson played for us in a season - 57.

The entire point about Tchouameni is v that he’s top quality and we only appear to be going for top targets - if we don’t get them, we don’t just work our way down the list till we find someone available - like, if we can’t sign Tchouameni, we’re not going to go out and sign a Ward-Prowse, just because… reasons (whatever they are).

We quite clearly have a methodology and a plan that we’re sticking to.

I’ve said this many times before - but we don’t tend to miss out on targets very often - if we want someone, we generally get them or they don’t end up moving. Tchouameni is the first player in a long time that we look like we really made an effort to sign but didn’t.

Gone are the days when we sign random players.

My point about Ramsey is - he’d be better staying at Villa and getting another season under his belt - a move to a top team will come, but it makes better sense if it’s when he’s ready to start rather than be a squad player - or he runs the risk of facing the same problem Jones is - he’ll need games to improve.

I also wonder whether other youngsters would fare any better than Jones - Jones would likely do well at a team like Villa were he can get regular football with the pressure of having to be one of the best midfielders in the world to avoid being dropped (Thiago).

We’ve also changed our approach to conditioning and managing injuries to avoid past problems - it was much better last season.

I also don’t think we should be judging whether we should go for a player based on whether another team wants him (in Laimers case). Either we have a gap that can’t be filled from our current squad or we don’t - Klopp seems to think we don’t - and I figure he’d have more of an idea what he needs than us.

Again - I love transfer speculation - it’s great fun, but we don’t NEED to be signing lots of players every season - we only need to be signing a couple of really good ones - we got one of the best squads in the world - there isn’t much that needs fixing.

Yes I agree with that but we now have a Plan A, PLan B and a Plan C ! Diaz-Nunez-Mo / Diaz - Jota - Mo / Diaz or Jota - Bobby - Mo. Spot the weakness.

Keita is a flat track bully..

There is none.

There is a plan D with Harvey replacing Mo and a plan E with Carvalho replacing anyone on the left though..,

Not to mention plan F where we go 4321 and plan G where Trent plays in midfield and scores all the goals.

There’s the Mourinho Plan - where we put Big Virg up front and lump long balls up to him.

Hopefully we don’t get to plan Zzzzz - that involves chucking Adama Traore on to have zero impact.

Haha well the weakness is we have no real backup to playing Mo (and no Elliott isn't). Hopefully Gordon comes on a bomb this year because he's the nearest we have.

And what about Sarr from Watford?

Throw some names in @moron

Traore is a cross between Flash and Hulk, the only thing missing is Green Arrow (for accuracy). Some might say cross between Beast and Flash would have been a better combo.

Gordon is still young, and I am not going to write him off, he needs to go out on loan but I am not seeing anything more than a squad player at the moment. Another Jay Spearing

Sarr has gone off the boil - something not right there with him last year at Watford. I think any chance he plays at a top tier club has gone - Villa, Leicester, Crystal Palace - that’s it for him.

Besides - he’s a forward - thought you wanted a midfielder.

Don’t go looking for Moron - you’ve been banging on about a new midfielder for weeks - if you list consists of Nunes (because he popped up on a Twitter feed), Laimer, Ward-Prowse l, Ramsey and Sarr, then you’re answering the question why we’re not signing another midfielder.

James Ward-Prowse? WTF?

I know, right.

Imagine the sort of mind you have to possess where you take a team that won both domestic cups, lost the league by a point and reached the champions league final and decide that the way to improve it is to sign Adama Traore & James Ward-Prowse.

What next????

Shall we sign Tyrone Mings to give Van Dijk some competition.

The mind truly boggles.

JWP batters most of our midfield stats wise. More goals, more winning the ball off opposition, more passes into the box, he's top five in Europe for most of that shit from midfield in a crap side that we usually do well buying from, and he'd start ahead of keita all fucking day.
