Transfer Rumours 21/22

JWP batters most of our midfield stats wise. More goals, more winning the ball off opposition, more passes into the box, he's top five in Europe for most of that shit from midfield in a crap side that we usually do well buying from, and he'd start ahead of keita all fucking day.

He gets his stats from set plays, does he not, rather than open play.

Aren't like 99% of his goals either free kicks or pens?

Absolute no chance he gets in ahead of a fit Naby...English Charlie Adam can fuck off.

I think you're falling into the trap of using our midfielders (and particularly Naby Keita) as a benchmark. It's not been the most productive area for us since Coutinho left, but if we're looking for improvements then we should absolutely be setting the bar higher. Personally, I would much rather give minutes to Fabio and Harvey than spend a fortune on JWP (let's face it, he's 28, English, and Southampton's talisman - it would take a hefty fee for them to let him go). If you take out penalties, JWP had 6 goals and 6 assists last season. And 5 goals and 7 assists the season before that. Appreciate he's in a poor Southampton side, but I think both Fabio and Harvey would deliver better numbers given the same game time, and have a much higher ceiling to boot.

Funnily enough, when you compare JWP's and Keita's contributions per minutes played last season (given that JWP is an automatic starter and played nearly three times as many minutes as Keita), there's not a great deal in it. https://www.squawka.com/en/comparison-matrix/?compare=mL3Ec-q8v2SLhP7zdOnlr

Why is this not surprising? He's like 5' 2" and other players don't even need to jump.
Short, not really fast and gets injured too often. Can't even rely on him to stay fit when not playing as there is a good chance he will get injured in training.
I think it's time he moves on, and we get someone else

You’re going to be well pissed off when he signs a 4 year extension.

If we were selling and replacing, we would, even should, have done it a month ago.

Maybe we would have if Tchouameni had signed m.

Balls to doing it now unless we really have someone cracking lined up.

Can’t see it happening.

Does anyone know where the Off Switch is for this broken record?

Gerrard dropped Mings as captain of Villa in favour of McGinn. A bold decision - let’s see how this plays out.

Nice to see Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth give lower league players a chance (O'Brien, Toffolo and now Tavernier). West Ham brough in Flynn Downes from Swansea too. In recent seasons, Leicester seems to be the one doing it.

Anyone thinking Leicester could struggle this year? No signings so far, Brendan supposedly wants half a new team of signings. Last years signings stunk the place out Boubacare, Saka, Vestergard. Looking to sell Schmeichel, Forfana linked with Chelsea, Tielemens in his last year of his deal. Brenda about to get fired again?
