"Would you start them against Manchester City/Real Madrid away" should be the measuring stick to any signing.

If Tsmikas is a NO then he should be sold. If Williams is a NO, then he should be loaned out.

We don't have that big a squad to begin with, so the players we do have need to be good enough to step in and do a job in any game they're called upon.

In my opinion, we've been the best team in Europe at least 2, if not 3, out the last 5 years. And we've only got 1 UCL and 1 PL title to show for it.

Why? Because we cheaped out on a 2nd GK and cheaped out on a first GK which limited our chances in Europe.

And we didn't have sufficient cover at FB, CB and CF that have cost us a PL title in 2019 and 2021.

Our squad isn't getting any younger either. We've had a 5 year window to win stuff, and I don't think we've won enough. Mainly because of the shite back up players.

Interesting point about Neco, isn't it better if he goes out on loan? Won't get a lot of opportunities to play with the club.
I guess the problem is that we have no real backup right back then, except Milner and Gomez.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has Klopp sold anyone he also bought since he joined the club?

Off the top of my head, Dom Solanke. Also he did try to sell Karius, Origi.
Oh right, Solanke. Totally slipped my mind. I thought he joined for free.

Not sure how much of a "Klopp signing" he was though, considering that he basically was a reserve.

Klopp didn't start Thiago against Real Madrid...

[article]Liverpool have taken Hibs youngster Ethan Laidlaw on trial.

The 16-year-old striker has gone down to train with the Anfield side’s development team.

Hibs have given permission for Laidlaw to train on Merseyside this week at the club's sparkling new Kirkby base.

The teenager has already attracted interest from top English clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea while he also had a training stint at Leeds United earlier in the season.

Hibs only handed Laidlaw his first professional contract back in February amid the hype from sides down south.

The Leith club have big hopes for Laidlaw but are aware of increasing interest.[/article]

Maybe in the context of comparison with Konate? Besides, he was really high in our list (given the other targets we tried for during the last min rush during the Jan window). The main attraction for signing him seems to be the £18m fee.

@Modo or anyone else that watches Bundersliga. What's your view on Daichi Kamada? Only 24 with 12 assists this year. Unusually for a Japanese he is very tall but from what I have seen on youtube technically gifted

Eh...sorry dude. I'm strictly premier league nowadays and European cups nowadays.

lack of pace is harsh - he wasn't slow!
Konate is reportedly the fastest player in the RBL squad. So that's your benchmark for Kabak. Still a bit unlucky but it's clear Klopp is keeping Gomez and Matip so there's your 5 (VvD & Phillips) and none of them are slow (well Nat maybe but he is way better than Kabak at almost everything else).

I think it’s a case of cash flow and priorities.
We have a tight budget so with that in mind, it’s unlikely we were going to make any wise investments for additional squad players in this transfer window anyway presumably.
Hopefully a CM is next...

Donnarumma on a free transfer 😱

He'll have a whole lot of options but if I'm a Lille fan, I'd still be disappointed he isn't staying longer.

Neves available for 35 million. He had a lot of hype in Wolves first season, didn't he? Did he live up to that? Whenever I have seen him play, I felt he was a bit on the slower side and lacked the dynamism needed for a top club. But I have only seen him in the games against us.

Hasn't the been 29 years of age for the last three years?

Probably no longer an area where we are looking, but if Lille is in trouble does that mean Botman is available?

And did someone say Camavinga? Aouar? Malen?
