Doku would be the perfect signing for our attack in many ways:
- He's only 19, so doesn't need to take up a foreign player quota for another 3 years. I believe he might be considered home-grown after that - not sure about this
Sounds like Origi when we bought him.I'd like to believe there's something to this
Doku is 19 and therefore wouldn't take a non-homegrown spot. That's surely important.
He's quick, can play either side, and has big game experience for Belgium
Lots of boxes ticked right there.

- Frightening pace and built like a tank, so he's ready physically for English football already. Exactly the kind of young player Klopp would love working with
- Not yet old or experienced enough that he'd kick up a fuss about wanting to start every game, which a 24 year old might do. Perfect age for us to have him play off the bench for a couple of years, and then be ready to take over for Salah / Mane.
- Ideal to throw off the bench when we want someone to absolutely run at a defence for 15 mins. I'd also be quite content with a Jota-Firmino-Doku front line when Salah and Mane are off playing in the AFCON. That attack would still have a hell of a lot of pace and goals.
Doku would be the perfect signing for our attack in many ways:
- He's got a cool name.
Damn Fabio's right. I didn't even check before getting on board Dmishra's train !Doku has borderline zero end product. Now we could coach that in to him, but I'm sceptical. Least mane/Salah had end product, albeit inconsistently
Is Jonathan David out of our reach price wise now?

I have the attention span & memory of a goldfish, so I'll go with Squiggles versionDoku would be the perfect signing for our attack in many ways:

Teenagers rarely have end product in the first year of first team football. Take Sterling for example. He broke into the team in 12/13 when he scored just 2 goals in 24 appearances. The couple of seasons after that - 10 and 11 goals respectively. Couple of years after that, he really exploded, and started hitting the 20 goal mark.Damn Fabio's right. I didn't even check before getting on board Dmishra's train !
Last season just 2 goals and 3 assists in 2,317 mins in Ligue 1 (he did better in just 7 games in Belgium before his transfer). 0 goals + 0 assists in 4 CL starts and 2 subs on. 0 goals + 0 assists in two games during the Euros.
Read that you don't count as above 21 unless you're 21 at on 1st of January for the relevant year. By that metric, Doku would be over 21 only by the 24-25 season. Would that mean he's spent 3 years here? Not sure how the FA would interpret that.Na, don't think so. He has to spend 3 years in England before the age of 21 to be considered home-grown, so he's too old.
Like Suarez, right? No fan of Doku. Would like a more central, creative forward.
Sterling still has a conversation rate of 0.25%Teenagers rarely have end product in the first year of first team football. Take Sterling for example. I wouldn't hold lack of end product against a 19 year old at all. Chances are he's due for an explosion in end product very soon.
He said central. 😛Like Suarez, right?
Sigh...He said central. 😛
The gaffer on potential transfers
“It is summer and the transfer window is open, then everyone expects some player signings. We will see what happens.”
“You have to make changes from time to time, but then there must be room to do it. We do not want more players. If something happens somewhere, something can happen somewhere else, but it makes no sense to add more players.”
“Let’s go through the squad. Do you want to buy a new fullback? A new goalkeeper? We already have good players there…I’ve definitely forgotten someone… If you want to buy such players, you have to spend a lot of money. We do not have to do that, because the players are already here.”
“We are a good football team, that’s all I know. I do not know who will be the best. But some clubs have the opportunity to join it, and we’re going to do ours to join the race for the league title.
“When you see what the other teams are doing on the transfer market, it is clear that they also have big ambitions. But we are still here and should do our best.”

Basically we need to sell in order to buy.

Nah, we need more than that. Unless we're getting some kind of favour from them. Maybe first dibs on Aouar.
"Liverpool and Lyon are close to agreeing a deal for Xherdan Shaqiri. Lyon have made a €6M offer, Liverpool are holding out for €8M."

We do. Elliott.I think after a few seasons, Edwards has accepted that maaaaaybe we can't shift an aging bench warmer for what we paid for him. I'd take 6m, providing we had someone lined up to replace
We do. Elliott.
