Transfer Policy & Summer 2025

Nobody really knows what’s going on in his head, or his family’s. We know he’s open to a move to Spain, so if Barcelona came calling, I’d expect him to push for it. As for Saudi, Diaz grew up in a very impoverished, underdeveloped part of Colombia, and it’s always going to be difficult for a player to turn down £400k a week tax-free, or whatever the offer might be. Duran, also from Colombia, has already shown his hand. Personally, I don’t have any ill will over it. We can debate the sporting integrity and the impact on their reputation in the game all day long, but there is something satisfying about the richest oil barons on earth throwing vast sums of money at players who couldn’t even afford boots as kid, especially if some of that money finds its way back to their communities. In some ways, it might be the most realistic form of wealth redistribution that exists.

I’d like to think Diaz recognises what he has here. People complain about his numbers and output, but I believe he’s one of those players fans will miss more than they realise. He’s someone who would run through walls for you. I’d need to be properly convinced that any replacement would bring the same level of commitment, skill and drive before even considering letting him go. Personally I think we have enough to be getting on with before messing with LW, which is probably the best stacked position in the Premier League for quality, but it will depend where his head is at and what offers come forward.

Ultimately we need better than Diaz but, as you say, his work rate and commitment are undeniable, and we have other positions that are higher priority this summer.

I'd push back that, if Lucho is our worst player, we're a fucking good team... We'd all LIKE better, but I don't think we NEED better - And, as you say, there's far more pressing needs elsewhere. We really need to improve elsewhere first.

Certainly don't think he's our worst player. But we do need more goals out of our frontline than don't come from one Moseph Salami.

If we didnt have so many needs to fill, we should look to upgrade on him. But no question I'd be more inclined to find a new 9 before Diaz, for sure.

It all boils down to what it always does - if the player wants to go, see ya later and if it’s Saudi then we’ll demand a fee that’s enough to sign a high caliber replacement.

Fortunately we also have Gakpo, so we could choose to go for ann emerging talent or someone who could cover multiple positions.

Selling Diaz and Harvey, for example, could fund a move for Florian Wirtz who could rotate among the front 3 or 4 with Gakpo, Jota, Dom & Mo in the same way that Dom, Mac and CJ rotate in midfield.

Just a thought.

No chance we'll go for wirtz.

Selling Diaz and going for Gittens however....

A 9 is unquestionably the priority this summer. Followed by LB, followed by RB.

If Diaz goes then arguably LW becomes much more vital, as we could easily get a young backup who's strong on LW, but can also play RW

I honestly have no idea who gittens is - but I’m sure he’s cuddly.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. Left Winger for Dortmund. English. Very direct

Could be a Sancho, but I'd like to be getting him while we have adequate cover incase it doesn't work out

Not sure about him. Talented but very pricey. Not to many attacking returns this season either.
I think at 20 he's where he needs to be development-wise. Stories say he actively wants to leave Dortmund, and has a reasonably short length left in his contract.

It screams "market opportunity" to me, especially if Diaz goes.

Honestly I was so hoping that we'd buy Kvara. I'm sure that we were scouting him. I mean we don't get a Georgian keeper without knowing about his teammate.
No clue who replaces Diaz.

I think we might try going for Gordon again

They want 80 mill though.

Thats the release clause, but there's some reports they'd accept less due to missing out on any Europe. Certainly worth monitoring for me

He looks really good, maybe a bit raw but expected at his age. Top class potential based on YT comps (yeah I know). Looks like a good option to backup Gakpo if Diaz leaves.

I personally believe it would be more of us wanting to sell Diaz, than Diaz wanting a move. Obviously RM/Barca are the big draw for South Americans but RM are stocked up and Barca, could they afford him and even register him?
Diaz’s output has improved massively this season and he has arguably been one of our best players. He is a constant menace and i like the contrast in styles that he and Gapko provide from the left.

Nunez will be moved on, Diaz only if we get a really good offer and it may sound mad but I have a feeling we will have interest from Utd. Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa (if Watkins moves) maybe even Spurs for Jota. I really hope Chiesa stays and gets a good crack next season, but feel he is not part of our plans.

So….i expect something like below.

Out
Kelleher
Gomez - shame as I rate him, I just feel a move would rejuvenate his career.
Endo - was brought as a stop game and has largely been reliable.
Nunez - like most fans, I have wanted him to come good and have defended him. However, he just gives us so very little now with Slots style. A PSG moment every 15 games. Almost on the same ratio as a Villa moment every 15 games. I still hold hope that it will just click for him, I just don’t see it happening.
Jota or Diaz, maybe both.
Elliott if we receive a good offer
The Greek if we sign a LB. Economically, it would make more sense to sell Robbo and keep him.
Morton - just because he has value
Doak - same as above although I would like to see him given a season.
Phillips if he has any value
Williams if he has any value

In
LB - Kerkees (sp)
CB - willing to play back up
RB - the level depends on whether Slot views Bradley to be a reliable replacement for TAA.
CM - big signing with Bajetic/McConnell to get more game time.
CF - although I would like us to go big for Isaak, I don’t expect us to sign an out and out CF. Maybe Cunha/seymenyo a versatile forward.

I will more than likely be miles off. However, I am intrigued, as it will be Slots first proper transfer window and will give us an indication on how he sees us progressing.

I want to be surprised, I want FSG to make an investment based on non player sales for the position of LB, Defender and a physical Skilled CM and a RB. Then based on the sales of Diaz/Jotta/Nunez to surprise is with a new striker and whatever.

I'm thinking of trying something new this summer. I'm thinking that I'll take a break from the forum and avoid all things football related on the net and just log back on in August to see how our squad looks.
If Nunez is still in it, I'll log off again.
