Torres gone. Scum gone to more scum

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

The fact that he was speaking with them to set this up just reaLly bothers me. He was an idol - a real McCoy. Now he's just another ranker. And it makes me EVEN more annoyed at Roy being appointed by those footballibg nincompoops back in June. Looks like roys legacy will have been the unsettling and departure of our best player after sg. if I ever hear the term steady hands on these boards again the poster should be banned for life.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Ps-Im working under the assumption that we have already agreed a fee but wont announce it untill we secure our targets to avoid a bum raping over price from clubs that know we have 40m quid burning a hole in our pocket.

Contrarywise if this window sees Babel and Torres leave with only Suarez as a replacement i think we are fooked.

The thing about Nando, is whilst he is world class, he only contributes positively to maybe 20 games a season nowadays?

Because:

1) He's injured half the time.

2) He's a moany, whiney git on the field who seems to have stopped working for the team especially if it isn't a big game.

40m can get us 2 fully fit, committed players.. and it's that commitment on the field and in his displays which made Fernando indispensable a few seasons ago.

Now, like I've said all year, I just don't see it in his displays anymore. He sulks his way through games and selling him for a big fee would probably be good for both parties.

This is exactly the way I view it, we've got a massive opportunity to improve our team here.

Talent wise we won't find many better than Torres but we can find loads who will contribute more over the course of a season, and if we want a league title that's what we need.

That's what i'd like to believe..

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If we are worse after this transfer window, I don't mind as long as we have acted in the correct manner. Yes football's about winning, but I'm not that arsed any more.

I just want some decency from our club. We will continue, and we will be back.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Stop saying £40m, £60 million minimum if they want him now.

If this clause exists about the £50m in the summer, why should we accept a penny less? If anything we should be asking for a premium now for him to go in this window. £60m and Anelka please. Thank you. Cunts.

He's clearly been tapped up, Chelsea make a fake bid that they know will be rejected allowing Torres to turn around and ask for a transfer as though this is the first he's hearing of it. What a cunt.

I can't believe it. So many have summed it up perfectly already in this thread. I didn't think anyone could be so treacherous, let alone Torres.

I dont think we have agreed but think we know we'll take a bid only marginally higher than what they're offering, so are frantically trying to tie up deals in the background to avoid a hike in prices.

Good post.

This is exactly how I feel. I expected so much more from Torres.

Excellent post from Mark; but I think the issue is that few players share that kind of loyalty anymore.

I think only a handful of the local players might feel that, but even Gerrard nearly left.

Mcmoneyman did leave, and he's from Bootle.

Rush,Souness, Keegan all left and they were locals even if they werent Scouse.

At the same time I think there is some loyalty from some of our foreign players, though at the moment I only hold Reina in that category.

It's our own fault, I guess..we imbue so much in these 'men' to the extent that we get our children and families in this mess like we are and when we're let down as we always are they share our pain.

Why should they?

Fuck Torres.

that's how I see it as well. how team is ridculously unbalanced at this moment time and this is an oppertunity to address that.

What?

Torres only began moaning once Roy got in?

This has been coming for some time; we (me at least) were just too blind to see it.

Anita got this one right.

Straw camels back. If we were in CL or in contention for - this wouldn't be surfacing now

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If we was the Torres of his 1st season with us i would be devestated about him going, but let's be serious he hasn't played well for a while now and that's another thing WHEN he plays !

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

In all seriousness I actually am stuck on the kitchen all day today, preparing dinner for 21 people that are coming round tonight, so no time to read the whole thread. Anything of not happening? Can someone summarise the last ten pages or so?

Nothing's really happened since last night Anita, the only murmur is that Arsenal are apparently interested aswell.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Not much has changed Anita, people are just going through the 'change cycle' at different speeds 🙂

I feel gutted completely. And every time we have to sit through stuff like this, my love for the game is diminished just that little bit more.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, there's nothing better than seeing your team win, regardless of all the bullshit that goes with it, but this is the downside of it. For all the beauty we've brought into the game from overseas in the last two decades, there's a distinct lack of loyalty left, and even the things that make this club great and our ability to embrace our foreign players as adoptive sons, it starts to gradually wear thin every time someone kicks us in the teeth like this.

Robbie and Carragher started out supporting our most fierce rivals, the kind of embedded rivalry you'd expect to breed a wavering of loyalty somewhere down the line. So it's ironic that they have become pillars of loyalty and love to the club. They are the perfect expression of what this club is about, how we take players and even if their allegiances are elsewhere, we enamour ourselves so well with people that we make them our own.

This is why I feel so sick to the stomach about this. 'Nando' felt like one of our own. A player to cherish but also be proud of. A big fuck you in the face of relative failure, a small thread of hope clinging us on to the fringe of success. Our hope, our saviour.

He won't ever feel that anywhere else, ever. He won't ever experience the adulation he's had at Atletico and now here. When Gerrard was on the verge of going I thought, you know what, even if he wins the title with Chelsea, he'll never be truly satisfied for as long as he lives, because nothing would ever come close to lifting that trophy with this club. Nothing would come close to being greeted by millions of scousers as you parade the trophy on a double decker bus around the City.

Because no one does it quite like us, and I hope that becomes inbedded in his consciousness for years to come.

If this is fairwell, then thanks for the memories, enjoy the hollow victories and remember the smiles you brought to the faces of us reds, when you look into the eyes of your new fans, what will you see staring back? Will it be the same?

Will it fuck.

Completely and utterly fucking agree.

That post nails it on the head for me.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If he's going and Arsenal can match Chelsea that would preferable destination.

Idiothole move by Torres though.

United have been winning everything in sight for the least decade, so him and Giggs sticking around through the good times doesn't exactly prove their loyalty to me.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

The only other thing Anita is a few people have expressed admiration for your fine judgment on Torres's character.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

61 years ago with Liverpool in a roughly similar position as they are now, Billy Liddell got offered a ten-fold (feel free to correct me on that) increase in his wage to move to Colombia.

He stayed at Liverpool.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

And rightly so Gene.

So since people now trust my judgement, do they all accept Sergio Ramos is a great man? 🙂
