Excellent post from Mark; but I think the issue is that few players share that kind of loyalty anymore.

I think only a handful of the local players might feel that, but even Gerrard nearly left.

Mcmoneyman did leave, and he's from Bootle.

Rush,Souness, Keegan all left and they were locals even if they werent Scouse.

At the same time I think there is some loyalty from some of our foreign players, though at the moment I only hold Reina in that category.

It's our own fault, I guess..we imbue so much in these 'men' to the extent that we get our children and families in this mess like we are and when we're let down as we always are they share our pain.

Why should they?

Fuck Torres.

In which case you shouldn't be saying 'Fuck Torres' but 'Fuck modern footballers'.

I expected Torres to be different because he's always given across the vibe that he understands Liverpool and what it means to the fans.

I'm saddened that he would ask to leave at this specific moment in time; 3 days before the transfer window closes.

I feel betrayed by one I used to defend and argue was special and not like the fucking Adebayors of the world.

Turns out I was wrong.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Someone no one's heard of on Twitter is saying there's a joint statement from LFC & CFC between 7 & 8pm tonight.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Ha, why would we have a joint statement? Kenny would tell them to fuck off, and Cotton couldn't keep up.

Agreement for the end of the season?

Was just thinking it's been really quiet today, in light of everything, but then Chelsea have had a game, so..

That's it Chan, I feel like a right mug. Falling for all that shit. His line in BS was so much more seductive and convincing than the usual mindless badge kissers. It makes me more angry and disappointed to have been so duped.

Vredesbyrd Vredesbyrd
Torres wants to stay at Liverpool and the club now wants the money. There was exchange of views. #LFC

Haha, hope that's true!

And rightly so Gene.

So since people now trust my judgement, do they all accept Sergio Ramos is a great man? 🙂

I would trust him to carry me across barren, arid and sandy terrain. Let's leave it at that.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Much as I'd prefer the cunt to rot on our benches, it was quite a wise move for the club to state categorically that Torres had put in a request. It forces Chelsea's hand as City and the likes will come sniffing. A bidding war might just be what we need to bolster the squad.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

SO Torres's position at the club, beyond next summer, is untenable. We have six months to go around all the biggest clubs in Europe to try to get a Ronaldo, Ibra type fee for the fucker.

Start next season with a good 6 or 7 top notch $20 million+ players in our team.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

I would fucking love it if he didn't end up at Chelsea, cunts singing Torres song at goodison.

Chelsea look set to improve on their bid for Liverpool's Fernando Torres with a sum of £60 million, according to The Mirror.
The record-breaking bid comes after the Spanish striker told his current team that he wants to leave via a written transfer request.

His representatives have also apparently written to the club's new American owners stating all the reasons why the player should be allowed to leave, including the fact that the forward has been let down over promises made last summer to keep him at the club after Rafa Benitez's departure.

The West London club are also prepared to throw in young striker Daniel Sturridge, a player Liverpool wanted to take on loan earlier this season, and the Reds look to have an offer they can't refuse.

Any completed deal will probably see Torres become Chelsea's highest ever earner, but the negotiations will need to gather momentum quickly given that there are only three days left for such a big transfer to go through before deadline

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If a deal is concluded, Sturridge should under NO CIRCUMSTANCES be part of it.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If the 60m bid is true someone needs to photoshop a pic of John Henry bending Abramovich over

60 million and Sturridge for free.

Bite their fucking hand off
OK that's it. Torres can now officially fuck off.
£60 Million and Sturridge, that's a great deal.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

So they've wrote to us telling us he should be allowed to leave because our previous owners are cunts?

What a strategy.

This is apparently the last window to get any big deals in before the new pay as you earn thing comes into effect. They could be desperate.

I believe the nobody who speaks terrible English on twitter more than that 60 mill report.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

For £60million i'd even consider wishing him well in the future.

I hadn't considered that, I hope they do get desperate

£60m is the minimum I'd sell for. I'd be disappointed if it was less.

This thread is classic stages of emotion at a break up.
Denial
Anger
Acceptance
Positive spin
? ? ? ?

I've gone through all of those. And now I'm back to denial, I don't think it's going to happen this window anyway.
