Torres gone. Scum gone to more scum

We can hold him to the contract, but it's the practicalities rather than the legalities that dictate the outcome. Why keep him if he's going to be a problem for us ?
Just to spite the suitor and give a message that nobody does us in and expect us to roll over. We can keep him and expect to be professional enough to play for another six months. Otherwise we sue him?

Neil - would you not rather get a striker and a winger instead of just 2 wingers?
2 wingers. kuyt should be played up front or fucked off and n'gog isn't nearly as bad as people are making out.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Now is the time for City to come in for him, they won't get a better chance. Sell the fucker and be done with it. There's no way back from this, even a public apology to the fans isn't good enough. If he really did not take any of KK's calls then he is a cunt and he deserves to go them showers of shit. The pair are a perfect match.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

1. The last world class striker to pressure us into letting him leave was Michael Owen...... look what happended to that little midget

and...

2. Suarez is going to be the new Jimmy Greaves (minus the "social" drinking)!

Torres is great; but fuck him. The club was, is, and always will be bigger than the individual. If it suits Kenny to take 50m & Anelka now so be it; if it suits us to keep him until the summer, so be it.

He'll never feel as loved anywhere else as he did here, and by the time he realises that, it'll be too late. His loss.

The reds are coming up the hill boys....

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Wingers
High line
Attacking full backs
N'gog up front

= Premiership title

We would have difficulty suing him once he turns up for training and is available for matches. We can't sue him for playing in a half arsed way, which is inevitably what he will do.

I would not put it past FSG to keep him until it suits them to let him go, they have previous - any Red Sox fan can tell you about what they did with Manny Ramirez. I think we'll get the best out of this deal ultimately.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Call me silly but I wouldn't agree to sell him to any Premier League club. Even if we were to earn lesser from transfer fee, as long as its not too huge a difference or a decent player is added into the mix to level the valuation, I'll prefer that to strengthening a domestic rival.

That's my view too,

Tevez
Defoe
Benzema
Higuain

Let the twat rot in the reserves.
I was thinking of that, but given he'd have an easier time there - wouldn't it be the rest period he desperately needs and then we'd sell him on fresh to Chelsea in the summer ?

I'd rather agree a deal now with Chelsea, which they can't back out of (unlikely) and play him for 90 mins every week.

I meant until his contract ended.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Couldn't sleep last night after such a great bit of news earlier in the day. I didn't even mind when my Manc friend at work texted me a photoshop of Suarez biting Evander Holyfield's ear. But this? Kick in the teeth.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Anybody reckon he's doing a Rooney for more money?

I don't like, but if he's just after more money then at least that makes sense, because nothing else about this does.

Same problem as Mascherano though; can we afford to let him rot in the reserves for that long until he goes for free?

Granted our financial position is stronger now but it still makes econoimic sense for him to fuck off sooner rather than later at a price we're happy with.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

I feel gutted completely. And every time we have to sit through stuff like this, my love for the game is diminished just that little bit more.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, there's nothing better than seeing your team win, regardless of all the bullshit that goes with it, but this is the downside of it. For all the beauty we've brought into the game from overseas in the last two decades, there's a distinct lack of loyalty left, and even the things that make this club great and our ability to embrace our foreign players as adoptive sons, it starts to gradually wear thin every time someone kicks us in the teeth like this.

Robbie and Carragher started out supporting our most fierce rivals, the kind of embedded rivalry you'd expect to breed a wavering of loyalty somewhere down the line. So it's ironic that they have become pillars of loyalty and love to the club. They are the perfect expression of what this club is about, how we take players and even if their allegiances are elsewhere, we enamour ourselves so well with people that we make them our own.

This is why I feel so sick to the stomach about this. 'Nando' felt like one of our own. A player to cherish but also be proud of. A big fuck you in the face of relative failure, a small thread of hope clinging us on to the fringe of success. Our hope, our saviour.

He won't ever feel that anywhere else, ever. He won't ever experience the adulation he's had at Atletico and now here. When Gerrard was on the verge of going I thought, you know what, even if he wins the title with Chelsea, he'll never be truly satisfied for as long as he lives, because nothing would ever come close to lifting that trophy with this club. Nothing would come close to being greeted by millions of scousers as you parade the trophy on a double decker bus around the City.

Because no one does it quite like us, and I hope that becomes inbedded in his consciousness for years to come.

If this is fairwell, then thanks for the memories, enjoy the hollow victories and remember the smiles you brought to the faces of us reds, when you look into the eyes of your new fans, what will you see staring back? Will it be the same?

Will it fuck.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

This thread is classic stages of emotion at a break up.
Denial
Anger
Acceptance
Positive spin
? ? ? ?

Me im not arsed. Hes played a cunts trick, thasfosho but thats the way it is with the modern player, there is no loyalty left.
I dont think hes worth the huge fees being bandied around, i think he's not the player he was the same as most players whos primary asset is pace are after a number of injuries (Owen, Kewell, Henry, Giggs) and i think weve had the best of him, so sell him for whatever fee Kenny thinks is acceptable and move on.
I just dont care about him anymore.
I think 40m is an unbelievable piece of business and if we can quicksharp snap up Adam, Young, N'zogbia and any other targets weve been pondering, we will still be balls deep in this 'write off' season anyway but with a better squad and players hungry to play for us.
So yeah. Meh Torres, thats all i got left for ya.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

The way i see it is, On Thursday we turned down a bid form Chelsea for 35m, and on friday after seeing us not accepting it, he hands a transfer request in, now the problem for me is, Chelsea have obviously been told from someone on Torres's side to bid for him so Torres must of been setting the move up himself before the Thursday bid, thats why Chelsea bid because they knew he wanted to leave

And he had the cheek to pull on our shirt on Wednesday and play for us when he didn't even wanna be there

Good post.

This is exactly how I feel. I expected so much more from Torres.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

The thing about Nando, is whilst he is world class, he only contributes positively to maybe 20 games a season nowadays?

Because:

1) He's injured half the time.

2) He's a moany, whiney git on the field who seems to have stopped working for the team especially if it isn't a big game.

40m can get us 2 fully fit, committed players.. and it's that commitment on the field and in his displays which made Fernando indispensable a few seasons ago.

Now, like I've said all year, I just don't see it in his displays anymore. He sulks his way through games and selling him for a big fee would probably be good for both parties.
