Torres Disenchanted with Roy

Yeah, I sympathise with Anita's stance on principle, but I do think there's a bit of exaggeration going on here about how crap he's supposedly been, for how long. I'm also not entirely convinced that it's due to him not giving a shit or wanting to leave.

Despite being injured or unfit for about half of last season, he was still our top scorer with 22 goals in 32 games. Even this season, when he's been given barely any service at all, he's responsible for our only league win - with a beautiful instinctive strike, his only chance of the game, against West Brom.

He's clearly unhappy with the football we're playing, but he's hardly alone there, is he? I think the main reason he goes round with that sulky look on his face is that his confidence is very low and the kind of football we're playing is unlikely to provide him with the chances to start scoring and thus increasing his confidence again. Plus, as peter says, he can feel his career ebbing uselessly away while Roy Hodgson tries manfully to guide us to a vewy cweditable 17th place finish.

We've now sorted out the ownership situation, which must give him hope for Liverpool's future. If we can sort out our team and manager so we actually play good football and give ourselves the chance to win trophies again, I think and hope we'll see the Torres of last season, if not the Torres of his debut season. Because that season, he wasn't injured, and since then, he's been almost nothing but. If we can actually keep him fit as well, we might well have the world's best striker on our books.

Truth is we need Torres more than we need anyone apart from Gerrard. Pride needs to stay well out of it.

I think its quite clear that Torres loves the club and the city and just gets it. I also think its clear that if he decides to leave it will not be a decision taken lightly. It's also patently clear we need Nando, more then Hodgson.

That's fair enough KopDiv, but much as we all want Budgie gone, surely you must have a *slight* issue with a player whose form and attitude has plummeted whenever he gets the arse?

I'm not saying I believe all this Torres bullshit, but he was one of the players rumoured to have a massive problem with Benitez, and now it's a problem with Budgie?

The people he needs to play for are the *fans*, ie every one of us.

It's not good to have a player whose gob is affected by the manager and then sulks and moans and bitches about so much that it has a deleterious effect on the pitch.

Agreed Brenda.

Agreed Brenda.

Great!

It's clear things aren't ace, but these "player anarchy" rumours - while they may get the result we want (Budgie out) - still feel a bit wrong to me.

And that isn't me assuming Torres deffo is doing what we think he might be.

That said, it is important that players' voices are heard, but this is getting ridiculous

You have a good point which hopefully will be addressed when we get a new manager. I dislike player power, it's the sign of a weak club and is not the Liverpool Way. In Hodgson's case though, I'd be inclined to make an exception.

Alonso - Aquilani
Mascherano - Poulsen
Torres - ?

Nobody is asskissing Torres. In fact I think everyone is pissed off with him, but it's perfectly understandable why many do not want to lose what would be our third world-class player in three seasons. Enough is enough.

We have a bad habit of getting rid of the world class players we have. And Torres and Reina are next on that list. If Torres leaves in January and we shall measure by Roy purchase so far we will end up with Crouchie or Zamora to replace him, and they will walk straight into our team.

Reina... Hmm how easy is it to replace him? Ask Arsene Wenger!

NESV are not stupid. We can't sell Torres and Reina and expect to win anything. Roy will be gone, and prett soon aswell imho. Losing the dressing room and having 2 of the players NESV want onboard for the future unhappy will only result in this.

Roy should never have been appointed, and we can all se the mess he's gotten us into.
