Starts today with the Mancs visiting Villa. Villa put me to sleep in the first half of their game away to Bournemouth, but the Mancs seem to have done the same to those watching the Spurs game (I missed it, thankfully).

So, hopefully these two teams will lull each other to sleep in a goalless snore fest. I probably wouldn't mind Gestede scoring a winner for Villa, even if that means Sherwood strutting like a peacock post-game talking up his own greatness. They'll be at the wrong end of the table come May anyway.

Why?

I might agree if United turn out to be as vulnerable as I think they are tonight

It might not be fashionable to say it but I love Friday night football.
They should let the lower league teams have Friday night football to help generate some revenue.

That's just my opinion, what do I know?

Why do I like Friday night football?

First it's an option in case I turn down all of the invites I get for crazy nights out with crowds of trendy friends. Second...dunno really.

I think premier Friday night football doesn't start until next season. Tonight's match is due to some demonstration somewhere tomorrow.

Is the demonstration the 'excuse' to move the fixture? The cynic is me sees this an opportunity for Sky or whoever to roll out a Friday game and see what the ratings are like.

I'm inclined to agree with you cynicism. From what I read the demonstration is in Walsall and there will be around 200 marchers.

United jammy fucking cunts again.
Villa had a stonewall penalty waved away - and the ref was looking right at it.
Plus Januzaj was lucky with the deflection for the goal. He didn't even strike the ball particularly well. It was the only shot on target they had all game.

Rooney was absolutely awful too.
There's no cohesion in their attacking play at all.
2 jammy goals and six points though.
Devil's fucking spawn.

More points than shots on goal after two games. They look very solide defensively though, the cunts.
Rooney looks horribly unfit and not at all suited for that lone striker role.

Villa should've had a penalty but rarly threathned Utd at all. Awful game.

I'd wait until they play some good teams before coming out with that statement.

I feel physically sick when they score/win. Massive cunts.

United look very solid and passed the ball well throughout. By yeah, I struggle to see them competing for the league with their strike force. They're fortunate to have 6 points at this stage.

A win is a win. They've been shite twice and won twice. Fair enough to them.

People forget that we were fucking awful last week but got 3 points. Who gives a fuck how you get them.

They've spent the guts of a quarter of a billion so you'd expect them to beat Spurs at home, and Villa away.
I know it's not as straightforward as that, and fair play they've got the results but I wouldn't be getting carried away if I was a United fan.

Neither would I, but I don't see any of them doing that to be fair.

They've won 2 tough games to start the season. They've got the money to spend. Can't fault them. Shit innit.

Honestly mate, this isn't being bitter but I wouldn't have Spurs at home and Villa away as overly tough games to win...not the easiest yes, but certainly games that a top 4 or 5 side should be taking maximum points.

They do have the money to spend, they're one of the biggest Clubs in the world so that's obvious but I don't think they're all that far from it. There's 2 or 3 better sides than them in the League, but as we know ourselves, momentum can carry a team a long way and I certainly wouldn't rule the cunts out of the Title race.

I said it last week and I will say it again, Villa have an awful team and look like a certainty for relegation. I think it's between Villa, Bournemouth, and Norwich for the least talented squads in the league.

Should've known. Old Trafford South.

United have now gone 20 matches without losing in the league at Villa – increasing what was already the longest unbeaten away run in any fixture in top-flight history

Bloody stayed up to watch this .. what a waste of time. United were no more than average at any stage in the match, got a bit lucky with the deflection for the goal but it was easily the best move of the match. Villa were simply awful going forward, Agbonlahor is done, Bacara gave the ball away a gazillion times and their best tactic seemed to be to lump the ball forward ... almost always way in front of their strikers. Blind had a good game and Darmian was very strong at RB again, however we'll see how that defence does against a better team .. and I think that is going to be us in a week or two.

Van Gaal on a name and shame crusade.

“We had too many unnecessary ball losses, that was not only Adnan Januzaj, also Memphis Depay and also Wayne Rooney, So we have to improve that,” he said.

... the Dutchman, who was similarly critical of Memphis Depay for giving the ball away, warned his scorer that the game consists of much more than just putting the ball in the back of the net.
"He had also a lot of ball losses and in my opinion [they were] unnecessary," Van Gaal told Sky Sports.
"Memphis Depay, a different player, has a lot of unnecessary ball losses. That is why we don't create many chances and we have to improve."
Van Gaal said in his news conference on Thursday that Januzaj is not for sale and the young forward stated he wanted to stay and fight for his place.
"Yes, but it he also has to show that," Van Gaal said. "He scored a wonderful goal but in all the other aspects of football you have to show it. I am very pleased of course because we have won on this goal but there is more than making a goal."

And then this:

[article]Pedro rethinks Manchester United move over fears about Louis van Gaal
• Barcelona forward had been keen to move to Old Trafford
• Pedro concerned by Dutchman’s handling of other Spaniards

Manchester United’s potential move for Pedro has stalled as he considers the managerial style of Louis van Gaal, with the Dutchman having fallen out with Víctor Valdés, the Spanish goalkeeper who is a good friend of the Barcelona forward.

Van Gaal’s recent handling of David de Gea’s future is also a factor in Pedro taking stock of his options. The United No1 has been dropped from the side – with Sergio Romero keeping his place in goal in the 1-0 victory at Villa Park on Friday night – and the manager this week claimed De Gea told the club he did not wish to play as he is distracted due to Real Madrid’s interest. However, De Gea is bemused by Van Gaal’s handling of the situation and Pedro has noted the manager’s stance in relation to another of his compatriots.[/article]
