The reported Inter double bid for Masher/Kuyt

we would lose a huge amount of tenacity with these two going. it should be considered when people ponder replacements.

We should ask for at least £40M for them...
They've got a contract and its about time other clubs pay the right price for our players.
How much are Arsenal asking for Fabregas?

Skully's point is a very good one and should also be kept in mind in considering the cost of replacements, if they're to be good enough.

We should charge not a penny less than £45 mill.for these two IMO - Masher £35 mill, Deadly £10 mill. I'd sooner keep them anyway.

Yes we are talking about two very proven international players.

But as I said earlier we are not in position to replace them with the same calibre. However we could spend 30-40 mill pounds well if we had them.

the point is the blood and sweat they leave on the pitch; it's essential to have it coming from a few players in any top side and we will be massively lacking that if they leave. replacing them with flair players will not help us, as much as we want them.

It's not in our interest to sell key players as the money will only be used to pay the banks. For what its worth, Kuyt is worth £20m in todays market. so 40m is too cheap. The only deal I'd consider is exchange for Eto'o.

he's 30 this year. he's worth about 13/14 mill max, i reckon.

Deadly must realise that he get much less airtime under another manager & it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he went to Juve. It's a win/win situation really.

Especially when you consider that Inter might also bid for him. 😉

How do we win exactly by losing a key player of the squad without a replacement? To pay H&G's debt? I support Liverpool Football Club not H&G's business. Kuyt stays. Win/win my arse.

I actually don't really want to sell anyone until we see what the new manager can get out of them. Except Insua.

iConcur. A new manager could breath a new lease of life into some of our more "average" players. Not that Kuyt and Mascher are average.

But they'll be bargains about, as always.
[/quote]

Never a truer word spoken - for every Berbatov @ £32m and Ibrahimovic @ £60m there are Robben's @ £18m and, most unbelievably from last season, Sneijder's @ £15m.

A fair price for Mascher is £35m and Kuyt £12m - so anything under £45m and they can fuck right off.

*punches Kokring in the nose*

' the entire squad was called for a meeting by the newly appointed manager. i had resolved to inform him of my intention to leave the club at this meeting and entered anfield that day knowing it would be my last visit as a liverpool player. but, as is so often the case, the invisible order of happenstance, which adumbrates the wisdom of hindsight, had other intentions. woy entered the room and a presence, born of some godly largesse, suffused through the aggregation. i was awestricken by the man before me. several playes wept - roy's ambience facillitating a rarefaction of knotted sufferings - and, unbeknownst to myself at that very moment, i was not to leave that summer; nor any other time, for that matter; i was to walk in the shadow of greatness; i was to advance under the aegis of a man called roy hodgson.'

Here's the reality:

"Who's this old fucker? Adios"

To be honest, I'm not sure Mascherano will have been raised in Argentina on stories of Kenny's greatness. Neither will Torres for that matter. Certainly not in Argentina, because he was born and raised in Spain. As we all know.

To be fair, it's doubtful they were raised on Rafa's greatness either. They may recognise Kenny from the 100's of pictures around the club and Melwood with all those trophies, however.

Great point, they may recognise him now because they're actually at the club. I never thought of that. Maybe because I wasn't talking about that.

Hahahaha. Love it

I agree with the opening post on Ozil.

He is going to be mega. But i fear he might have a good world cup for Germany, and go well beyond our reach. We should be looking to get one of Ozil/Marin.

If Rafa makes a combined bid for 33 million for Kuyt and Masher, he is being a bit cheeky. This is two of his better signings we are talking about and he himself has said that their values have increased after he brought them to Anfield. He has even said Masher is worth double what he paid for when questioned about his other failed transfers.

Masher was bought at 18 million pounds and Kuyt at 11 million pounds. I think we should be trying to get 33 million pounds for Masher alone. That should be the going rate for the captain of Argentina and probably the best defensive midfielder in the world at this point in time. I don't see why we should be bending over to Rafa or Barca, just because Masher is unhappy.
