Having been turned down by Mauricio Pochettino, Sampdoria are reportedly offering the job to ex-Inter Coach Rafa Benitez.

The Blucerchiati were promoted from Serie B by winning the play-offs and that automatically extended Beppe Iachini’s contract, but the club seems determined to find a big name.

This week Pochettino was asked about the position, but the Espanyol tactician turned it down.

According to the latest reports in Italy, Sampdoria will meet with former Liverpool boss Benitez on Monday to present their plans.

Benitez has been out of work since he was split from Inter in December 2010, just six months into his troubled stay at San Siro.

It has been reported he rejected the chance to join Atletico Madrid.

Sebastian Giovinco’s future could be decided in a blind auction, admit Parma and his agent, as talks with Juventus are delayed again.

The Atomic Ant is co-owned by the two clubs and the deadline for either extending that agreement or one of the sides buying him outright is at the end of the month.

“There was no meeting with the Bianconeri and there are no negotiations going on between the two clubs,” agent Andrea D’Amico told Sportitalia.

“It is all put back to next week. Parma have confirmed to me that Inter are also interested in the player.”

The plan would be for Parma to buy Giovinco outright and then sell him on to the Nerazzurri.

If the Ducali and Juventus do not agree on what to do next, then it will go to a ‘blind auction’ – both clubs put a figure in a sealed envelope and the highest bid wins the remaining 50 per cent of the player.

“There was no meeting and no agreement with the Bianconeri,” added Parma general manager Pietro Leonardi.

“There will be no summit before next week and we might have to go to a blind auction for the player.”

It has been reported Juventus are hoping to buy out the remaining 50 per cent of Giovinco’s contract for around €13m.

LIVERPOOL are keen to sign Birmingham City youngster Foday Nabay but no deal is yet in place.

The Reds have been tracking the highly-rated 14-year-old’s progress but face competition from Manchester City and Arsenal for his signature.

Sierra Leone-born Nabay, who can play up front or on the wing, has represented England at under-16 level.

LIVERPOOL will be watching with interest how Nick Powell does at Manchester United following his £3million switch from Crewe. The 18-year-old England youth international signed a four-year contract at OId Trafford this week.

The Reds came close to signing Powell for £250,000 two years ago but Dario Gradi vetoed the deal.

Contrary to reports elsewhere, Liverpool didn’t submit a bid this around as United beat off competition from Arsenal.

According to Wikipedia, Pohjanpalo scored 3000 goals last season.

Equally impressive was that he did it in 4000 games.

So stamina & goal scoring ability.

Now who is this Finnish team Liverpool FC he plays for?????

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has revealed that the club’s Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has a €20m buy-out clause in his contract.

Since Huntelaar joined the German club he has hit the goalscoring form that first put him on the map with Ajax.

After disappointing spells at Real Madrid and AC Milan, Huntelaar has found the net 29 times in 32 Bundesliga appearances this season.

This scintillating form has reignited the interest of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United, all of whom have pursued him before.

Of his club's star striker Heldt told Bild: "Huntelaar does have a €20m buyout clause, and a rich club can afford it.

"But, Klaas-Jan has always stressed that he wants to be a champion. This he can be only with Real or Barcelona in Spain.

"I do not think he wants to go there. What would he do there? Since nothing more than the weather is better."

Interest in the striker is sure to increase following today's revelation. Despite Heldt's optimism that he will stay the German club will be concerned they will lose their star player this summer.

Any truth to the Walcott rumours? I'm starting to think that could be a decent transfer.

Liverpool are preparing a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Raul Garcia, with the Reds convinced the Spaniard can be snapped up for £6.5m.
The 25-year-old is believed to have been told he is free to leave Los Rojiblancos after five years in the Spanish capital.
Raul appears to have fallen out-of-favour with manager Diego Simeone after spending last season on loan with former club Osasuna.
New manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to strengthen his Reds squad this summer after the club underachieved last season, finishing eighth.
With a lack of goals from midfield last year, Rodgers is keen to address the problem sooner rather than later.
And with Alberto Aquilani seemingly set to depart the club this summer, the Reds will be keen on recruiting Raul for the new campaign.

Brendan Rodgers has begun his Liverpool reign by looking to sure up the midfield and back line.
Perhaps drawing a page from the manual of Manchester City’s Roberto Mancini, Rodgers seems to be keen to build from behind.
According to reports in the British press today, Gylfi Sigurdsson is close to joining Liverpool for £8million from Hoffenheim.
Sigurdsson was to join Swansea, but when Brendan Rodgers joined the Reds from there, Sigurdsson seems set to move as well..
Montpellier left-back Henri Bedimo is said to be next on Rodgers shopping list.
The £5million-rated Cameroon star, 29, was quoted as saying: “I’m going to play in England next season. I’ll announce where next week.”
With Andy Carroll looking on fire at the Euros, having scored the opening goal against the Swedes, perhaps Rodgers forward worries are not that big.
Most interesting of all is the lifeline Rodgers has thrown Joe Cole.
The 30-year-old could be back in a Liverpool shirt next term having spent last season out on loan at Lille.
Rodgers said: “I met up with Joe Cole when I was in Spain.
“I certainly know he’s looking to come back. I’ve got to assess all the players.
“For me it’s fresh for everyone — I’ll be new into the club.”

Can't see us spending £5m on an unknown twenty nine year old left back.
At least I hope we don't.

At one point he was quite promising but hasn't really progressed at A.Madrid. Last season he loaned back to Osasuna.

The goals problem is rather lazily referenced as well because Raul Garcia won't be helping us in that department.

Hmmmm.. he got 9 last season, but besides that he hasn't really been a big goalscorer in his career (4 goals overall in the three years prior to that).

I remember him being promising in his earlier days but that's about it.

I've never seen him play, is he that bad mate?

He was on loan last season. Bit of a nothing midfielder while at Athletico if you ask me but he did increase his goals to games ratio to 1 in 3 last season while at Ossasuna. I don't really think he ad anything to us. I'd prefer to see Aqua back and as many know I'm not too keen on that happening either.

He's not good enough.
