Whelan strikes... again

Chelsea have been told they must dramatically raise their offer for Victor Moses if they want to sign him.

The Blues have offered around £4million for the Wigan star but that was rejected on Monday night.

They will now consider a second bid for the winger but chairman Dave Whelan will attempt to hold out for close to £10m.

Chelsea are attempting to beat Arsenal and Tottenham to land Moses, who is entering the final year of his contract.

Whelan told ESPN: 'Chelsea would need to get realistic before we would even listen to them. They made a bid at 6pm last night and we turned it down flat.

'Roberto Martinez has brought this player on and he needs at least another year with Roberto to become a top player.

'We have offered him a new contract but it seems the agent, more than the player, wants to move him on, at least that is the impression we are getting.

'It cannot be for the player's good. Victor Moses needs another year or two before moving to a club like Chelsea. He needs games and he won't be first choice at Chelsea, I wouldn't have thought.

'We don't need to sell him with 12 months to go on his contract because he is under 24 so wouldn't be going on a free transfer.

'Ideally we would like him to sign a new contract, or a club like Chelsea would have to be realistic. At the moment, they are taking the Mickey with the bid they've made.'

Moses has impressed for Wigan since joining them from Crystal Palace in 2010.

He fits the bill for Chelsea, who are currently scouring for young talent to reduce the average age of their squad under Roberto Di Matteo.

They also need reinforcements after the departure of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou.

I don't know how 4M for Victor Moses is undervaluing him.

I have seen Wigan play a few games and the kid looks decent but hasn't really done much in my eyes to warrant a big money transfer.

Although being English alone seems make your value at least 15M these days.

Get Pepe! Italian giants AC Milan weigh up move for Liverpool star Reina

AC Milan are considering a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
The Italian giants are looking to rebuild their squad after losing their Serie A title to Juventus last month.
Having rejected a £37million bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Thiago Silva they want to strengthen their defence further and 29-year-old Reina is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Incumbent Milan No 1 Christian Abbiati turns 35 this summer and although he enjoys cult status at the club, Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri was not convinced by his performances last season.
Reina is settled on Merseyside but a club of Milan's stature may prove persuasive with Liverpool in another stage of transition.
The former Barcelona and Villarreal goalkeeper is currently away at Euro 2012 with Spain and has not yet met new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

I'm surprised they haven't put in a piss-ant bid like £2m just as they did for Aquilani.

Fabio Borini and Henri Bedimo along with Sigurdson are the big noises at the minute.
Anyone heard anything on these?
I dont even know who the fuck Bedimo is!

I suspect he is going to Everton, probably as a replacement for Baines when he goes to Man U

I hate this argument.

Wigan don't want to sell him and he is under contract; Wigan can ask for whatever they want. Maybe Chelsea might think the offer is fair, but they don't own the player and Wigan do, so it is Wigan not Chelsea that decides what is fair.

Just because Chelsea put in a bid, doesn't mean Wigan have to sell him.

Bit shocked Chelsea are going for Moses, yeah he had a good enough season but is he really top 4 quality? strange one.

Don't know much about them but borini was on loan at swansea last season i think and picked tram injury which prevented him playing too much. He's a creative midfielder i think. The other dude is a left back as already mentioned, probably replacement for aurelio if rumours are true

Yeah Borini was at on loan at Swansea last season, at Rome before that(loan as well). Chelsea signed him when he was 16 and played loads for the Reserves but only played a few times for the first team.

Only see him a few times, he's more of a forward but he plays off the main striker. He's got plenty of skill, good touch but he's a litle lightweight.

Can't say i've even heard of the other guy.

I wasn't implying that just because Chelsea put in a bid that Wigan should sell him.

I'm just saying .... what do you honestly think he is value is? Regardless of his contract status.

I personally don't think he's worth as much as Wigan think he is ... but I can understand Wigan wanting to get the most they can for him.

Sigurdsson, Caulker and Borini. Yes, we've been linked with the only swansea players Rodgers can apparently touch for 12 months. The sigurdsson one I believe, the other 2 sound just like lazy journos!

AC Milan have confirmed that they have ended negotiations with Mathieu Flamini and he has now left the club

anyone interested in flamini ? he's been pants these last few years hasn't he ? I might still be tempted as cover

Nope. We've got Spearing happy enough to play the 'cover' role.

There's no point in bringing in players on a free that'll demand decent wages if they're not really going to improve the squad that significantly.

He played the 'cover' role last season and look how much of a liability he was.

If Lucas is fit this year, Jay will do well to make the bench each week.

We have more pressing concerns than a replacement for a replacement.

This. Some young, talented, hungry additions this summer please.

They signed that Sidwell ginger from Reading a few years ago so it's not really that shocking

Flamini was one of the top 5 DMs in the world is his last year with Arsenal. Couldn't replicate this form in Milan though. I would definitrly take a chance on him if I can pinpoint the cause of his struggles in Milan and if I think he will fare better here. He certainly has talent. Have no idea why he couldn't get a game in Milan.

Yup - I don't get it. It's far wiser to spend MORE money on one good player, than find the need to replace the end of our bench (Spearing etc)
