Xabi was seriously underrated by many (including myself) and it was only on his departure that the huge hole he left made apparent how important he was for us. He is simply superb, would walk into any team in the world and a part of me crys every time I see him play.

Doing a KHL (sorry K.) I would have to say that I think Richard Dunne is another player well underrated. He has been a very very good no nonsense cente half for a long time now and deserved a spot in a champions league team at least.

Im not sure wether hes underrated or not, but the Elmander lad at Bolton after a first tricky season has 7 goals and 5 assists so far.
I think generally offensive players shouldnt be judged too much on their first season in the league. Nani, Pires, Malouda being the first three that spring to mind as the most high profile.
Elmander is certainly doing everything right right now.

Elmander's contract is up at the end of the season and some bloke on the radio (cant remember who) was saying that he is possibly one who Bolton will cash in on in January as they are very heavily in debt and need some cash.
He was a record signing for Bolton I think.

Elmander was fucking gash for the first 2 seasons at Bolton. I'd be hesitant to sign him as one good third of a season out of three whole seasons doesn't bode too well. However, he is looking good at the moment.

I think Ryan Nelsen is a good defender. A lot of the Everton players are good and underrated too. Baines, Pienaar et al.

Whilst I don't think he is underrated, I do think Parker should have been successful for a top four club.

Kompany is good too, and not mentioned very often.

Kompany is a superb player, and I like that yard-dog De Jong too.

[/quote]I didnt underrate Alonso? I thought he was amazing in his first and last season with us. I just dont subscribe to the revisionist history that he was amazing from start to finish.
I didnt want us to sell him and its clear weve missed him badly.

Danny Guthrie for sure. It's just astounding he hasn't been called up by England yet.

On a serious note though:

Darren Fletcher, still.
Alexandre Song - I fucking love him.
Zabaleta
Ahmed el Muhammadi (Sunderland right-back/right winger)
Stilyian Petrov
Hendry Thomas and Mohamed Diame at Wigan

Anyway, the thread only asked for one so I'll go for Song. Quality player, and criminally underrated.
