The Merseyside Derby

On xG they actually sit 7th in the table, & they proved against Leicester they can defend pretty well.

Silva has never been easy for us to best even before he went to Everton.

This could be a fucking dog of a game this, don't expect otherwise.
Yep. That's how I see it. I'd grab a dirty 1-0 with both hands.

Not liking the BBC article that asks if it’s the most one sided derby ever!!

Last time they started this shit Utd almost beat us and got a point,

I think we'll be lucky to win, but I also don't care if we are. Wish I wasn't so busy so I could actually enjoy this.

That said, winter Xmas games against Everton last few seasons have been that mad 1-0 last minute, I'd bet on it again.

I read on here and it seems to me that people forget how much better we actually are.
Of course they will fight, but it doesn't seem to be the massive brawl it used to be anymore.
We can outplay them.

Any win will do. Fuck how we manage it.

easy win. they're awful, and they know how good we are. they'll be bricking it and we will win by at least a couple.
I get that it's a derby etc etc, but they are about as poor as they have been in living memory, while we...

So was last year a fluke?

0-0
1-0 (in stoppage time)
2-1

And they were shite last year too

This is the first Anfield derby I'm missing in a billion years and it's all my bird's dad's fault. Anyways, I have a bad feeling that tonight is when the chickens come home to roost. We don't get the lucky breaks, the decisions, and they get a stupid fucking pen and win 1-0.

Don't listen to me, I thought Burnley would get something last night. It's just hmmm. I HATE watching derbies on the telly.

Stranger things have happened.

Burnley were never getting anything though 🙁

If we played Watford fifty times, chances are, they’d win a couple, but i think it’s fair to say they before most games it would be an easy win.
Since last year we’ve bagged the champs league and are ELEVEN points clear of city.
They, are worse than last season and probably about to sack their manager.
Does it guarantee a win? Well, no. Should we be confident? Yes, of course.
The mentality of the team has changed in that its consistently confident. Im starting to feel the same way about this team and manager

Watford aren’t Everton. It’s a derby and totally different. Hopefully we smash them but I won’t be even a little surprised if it’s a horrible scrappy game

We're due one where we twat them then. Hopefully this is the one where the front 3 run riot.

That new lad Kean looked sharp for them the other day though.

Kean was actually one of 10 nominee for Young player of the year at Ballon d'Or. Trent was not.

If Calwert Lewin is playing, then their bound to get a dodgy pen from the VAR room and Mr Atkinson.

Expected Everton team now Walcott is fit and returning to 4-3-3 to match us (abandoning 5 at the back).

that's a pretty attacking team - if we can get salah or mane on either of their FBs, we'll cause them tons of headaches.

Ironically probably more pressure on them than us to get a result.

I think they'll choke. I'm rarely this optimistic, and hope I'm not jinxing us, but they're riding above the relegation zone (no they won't get relegated... But the pressure is on)... A derby game, they haven't had a good record... I think there is a lot of pressure on Everton and it's going to be too much for them.

Usually the pressure is on the team at the top with expectations in a derby. Not this time.

No there isn't.

I think they'll stick with the 5 at the back that stifled Leicester so well. If this is the case I seriously hope we go for the jugular the intensity we killed Spurs with earlier in the season. The emotional derbies (Everton & United) are the only two fixtures I feel Klopp has yet to nail approach wise, we always seem to give too much respect to the opposition and not play them for what they are (mid table strugglers).

Given we are likely to be throwing lots of balls into the box I wonder whether we should consider Divock leading the line and having Bobby dropping deeper, although maybe this is too attacking

I've thought about this for a long time. I can't see how he could be anything other than brilliant at the point of a midfield triangle. The stamina, chasing, tackling, runs, passing and vision with three ahead. Aptos dolce the creativity conundrum in an instant.

Note : I'm leaving the Apple auto correct of 'Aptos dolce ' in the above because it's ace. It should have been ' Would solve' of course but that's just boring by comparison.

Given our recent performances a draw would not surprise me. We haven't played well since the Man City game and we haven't dominated a game since Newcastle in early September! We played well in the home wins against Leicester and Spurs but we haven't really dominated a game since our first 4 or 5 league games......we are definitely due a bloody nose in this game.
